  1. I guess it' having some effect, because I found myself sitting through the most trifling romance movie, I guess in the way of antidote. lol.
  2. I dunno, the baddies just don't seem that scary design wise, it's just too much, had they looked more human on the other hand... Although there was this one time where I had no ammo left and had to get to an elevator with only a few shots in the 'time warp gun'. they were blocking my path so I had to beat them to death, one swing that misses and one of them would have latched on to me. That was pretty intense. By the way, is there any way you can break free once one of them has clasped onto you and is chewing your arms off. I kept pressing the mele button, but it didn't seem to do anything.
  3. The problem is the non aiming navigational mouse, what you use to look around, versus the aiming mouse. If you want half decent aiming you have to crank the sensitivity up so high the slightest twist of the mouse will send you on a 180 degree spin.
  4. Yes, that is a bit strange. What would you need flies for.
  5. In any case An Associated Press journalist at the funerals in the village cemetery saw the bodies of seven men - none of them children. The discrepancy could not immediately be explained. The Syrian press is not exactly a beacon on neutrality.
  6. I think he's mistaking terrorism with the usual eggs that get broken when governments make omelets. Human rights go out the window as soon as we are talking about the national interests of a major power. I'm sure the US would have preferred no 'collateral damage', but it's not like that was ever a deal breaker.
  7. Well there are obvious dangers to spreading the conflict further. Whats next, a raid into Iran, we all know they wholeheartedly support the insurgents.
  8. The Syrian govt is a bit of a joke, considering the amount of leverage wielded by Hezbollah. However, going in and assassinating people on foreign soil, that's the kinda thing you would expect of Israel, not the US.
  9. There is no level system, instead you find upgrade canisters a la Deus Ex and upgrade your suits or your weapons, the weapons all have special abilities, overall it's much the same effect as a leveling system, albeit more primitive. There's no jumping except in zero grav where you get to walk on the walls, which is pretty cool. Otherwise you get the same feeling of wishing you could do more with the environment as in the witcher. There is no quicksave, but save stations, and a ATMs where you buy upgrades a la System Shock. The baddies are like something out of a Warhammer Chaos army. If you have seen the movie Event Horizon, it captures the mood pretty well, so far not that much character interaction.
  10. So after downloading a logitech applet for my mouse, I was able to boost the mouse speed even further, so now I can actually aim without slowdowns, it's a mite choppy though probably because it wasn't intended for actual 'real time aiming'. Now I have another problem, just the smallest touch of the mouse will turn me 180 degrees, which can be a problem when a nasty pops up and you turn your back to him.
  11. This falls into the category of bad PC port. You can't aim properly either. I had to turn mouse sensitivity all the way up in both the mouse applet in windows and in the game, just to get it so I could look around at the turn of the wrist instead of requiring several feet of free space. The superior aiming operation of a mouse seems to have been deliberately sabotaged as well. Whenever you enter aim mode, pointing slows down so much you can either flail the mouse spastically to try to bring your gun to bear faster, or simply contend with a constant speed handicap. I realise this gap between intention and finding your aim on a console is larger, but it's not supposed to be a factor on a pc. I can't recommend this at all unless you use a controller, and it's not really the kind of game that benefits from a controller either. Well, possible maneuvering in space, I haven't gotten that far yet. What keeps me at it is the sound mixing and the atmosphere. The baddies themselves look, I dunno, a little too over the top to be scary.
  12. First thing I've noticed is that I can't reassign movement keys to the arrow keys. FFS, I mean, I'm not an expert but how ****ing hard can it be to implement proper remapping. I can't stand WASD, it's just a thing I've always suffered from. Enter, Arrow keys, Numerical keyboard, can only be mapped to certain seemingly arbitrary functions, The rest it seems must me either letters, numbers or F-keys. You can move with F1 through 10, but not the arrow keys. Just brilliant.
  13. Ok so I bought it, at a games store chain I hate no less so I had to pay more. I'm collecting heads if it sucks donkey balls, just so you know. Installing now.
  14. The suit looks a bit silly, everything else looks well thought out. 'Necromorphs' lols. gimme a break. Also, it's EA, that means the game is not a keeper, right, you can only use it for 3 installs or hardware changes.
  15. So can I get a solid recommendation out of anyone. I love sci fi, I hated Doom3.
  16. Demos cost production time, and if your game stinks it's only going to make things worse. The smoke and mirrors approach probably works better.
  17. I think i'm going with seagate too next time around, they have a pretty solid reputation
  18. I just know its going to suck and break my heart.
  19. Your own fault for not having proper backup >_ Whatever is important to you can't just be on one physical drive.
  20. Most people who get a job writing game reviews are positive. That's how they continue to get work. I'm just curious, so you prefer positive reviewers to neutral or negative ones.
  21. I still have my old beat up 22' CRT. I got used to it I guess. Still beats any LCD for color reproduction. CRTs benefit from 32 bit color, but get this, LCDs aren't even true 16 bit, they cheat and use interpolation. Friend of mine was able to turn the firmware off his mac screen and it was plain as day how sucky they were without it. Gradients had visible borders. Prolly gonna get one anyway though, costs less in power, doesn't take up half a desk, easier on the eyes etc.
  22. That baloney with the package being intact don't fly with danish legislation. If you have a receipt and you had to break the wrapping to get to it, they have to return it. That don't stop them from forgetting to tell you that bit of information when you take it back though. I guess there is just something fundamentally amoral and shifty about sales clarks.
