  1. Tried everything. Even tried an ad hoc fix bundle from techies who couldn't get it to run on win 7. Now it's gone from the device manager, I don't even have an unidentified entry. Bahh. I'm getting a real sound card with win 7 support tomorrow.
  2. Scandinavian quisine is pretty lame if the criteria is that it has to be some god awful homespun dish that farmers used to eat 100 years ago. We are well aware of this and what we actually eat is the best world quisine has to offer.
  3. Well you killed the butterflies in my stomach
  4. Always the same when re installing. I can't for the life of me remember where I got the drivers for the integrated audio. MB manufacturer's drivers are a no go, they think I have the wrong OS installed ?. And yet I got it to work in my other win 7 installation. I don't suppose anyone knows where windows keeps its driver archive. Probably all encrypted and impossible to get to. grrr.
  5. Get one. Everything is right there the second you log on. No more twiddling your thumbs while the HDDs churn along for ages.
  6. Councils said fraud cases were rising because the current economic climate was putting pressure on people's personal finances and "tempting" them to commit fraud. They also said a reduction in staff numbers due to cutbacks was weakening internal fraud controls. Transparency in budgets is done out of consideration for the taxpayer who is supposedly interested in where his money goes and that there is not too much waste. I don't see the link to politically charged leaks and Wikileaks.
  7. It's been up and down for me. It got pretty stable towards the end of the DLC cycle though.
  8. What we need is a user rating as widespread as IMDB. They get it wrong on occasion, but I have never seen a good movie with a user rating of 4 or less. All this pre-launch Mumbo jumbo that is the life-bread of game sites. I don't trust it at all.
  9. Those are opinions from someone whose paycheck exists largely because of ad revenue from game publishers. Whatever remains of impartiality is in the last 10%. ei. a sucky game gets 90%, something potentially good gets 100%
  10. He is doing the usual song and dance about deregulation and small government. I don't think there is a nuanced layer hidden anywhere here.
  11. Finally got around to ordering the SSD. 96 gb drive, cost about a third more than a good 1 tb mechanical drive and had gone up 1/8 in price over the last two months. In my experience mechanical drives break with alarming regularity so if SSDs are worse I had better figure out a practical backup system. Maybe one of those USB docks for hard drives.
  12. They harvest a whole race in each cycle of the Matrix in order to create a ship two kilometers in length. I thought a ship needed to be metal, not flesh and bone, although that would be kinda cool I suppose. Pretty poorly though out otherwise. This is backgroundish stuff and not even confirmed, I think we can dispense with the spoiler tags.
  13. That's no knife, it's clearly a partial schematic of a mineshaft.
  14. Have you talked to any stammerers lately. My brother used to infect me with sympathetic stammering whenever I talked to him on the phone. Try starting your sentence singing, yes, singing, and then return to a normal speech pattern. It has to do with how language is processed in the brain and can snap you out of it if you are not a 'real' stammerer. You might want to do the singing in front of the mirror and the talking on the phone though.
  15. I hope that doesn't mean you are effectively glued to the ground like in the Witcher series.
  16. Yup, this alone makes the game worth trying. It can't possibly do anything but improve gameplay by a huge amount. ohh good. Now you are allowed to use the best tactic for the job without being penalized at level up.
  17. I don't think you need a moral anchor to keep from being an annoying prick on the internet, you just just need the resolve not be an annoying prick even when you can get away with it. That comes from growing up.
  18. If the goal is just to make the OS run smoother and maybe install a game or two. 32 or 64 gb drives will do. They are quite cheap.
  19. I find earplugs disgusting, you can't share anything with those anyway without sharing your ear-g.ook too and they tend to either fall out or hurt with extended use. No, a real man greets the world with a large headset around his neck and several meters of surplus cord in his pocket.
  20. Looks like botched plastic surgery
  21. On the one hand you have companies who want to set prices regionally, and on the other free trade. I think free trade has the moral high ground here.
  22. I'm sure game companies don't like it anymore than resellers of used games, but transfer of activation keys which are one use only is perfectly legal despite whatever the EULA on the game says. It's within fair use parameters.

Haven't people been living more or less full time on the international space station and MIR before that.
