  1. I'm probably too late and I haven't read the previous, but I'd say being a customer means a psychological expectation that the party you are engaging will try his utmost to make the exchange pleasant. You want to be wooed, but not too clumsily. The seller is there to give you a small taste of the satisfaction you are supposed to get out of your purchase. More broadly an expectation of customer care.
  2. The Romans had a good take on distribution, they knew that mobs in the street had to be paid off for their support, otherwise all that wealth could cease to matter rather quickly. The worse the economy the more insistent the realisation that money is just something we made up to keep us from eating each others' children
  3. It's the natural development of the privatisation craze isn't it. If people feel like they are getting more for their taxes they will feel less miserable about paying them.
  4. Making something look human is always harder than drawing patina on a box. In most 3d applications you wrap a 2d drawing around your 3d model which has to take complex movements into consideration. You probably know all this already.
  5. So why couldn't she remember either...
  6. If you say so. I pride myself in being somewhat of a Luddite in that regard. I mean, an open mind is the best way to live, but art is often much like the emperors new clothes, it's decided by committee, not by appealing to the end user.
  7. As always there is the worry that the PC controls are going to suck. They might decide to jack up the mouse speed to 'impossible to do anything with speed' just for the inventory and journal (Rage). there might be a quick targeting system that works reasonably well when keyed to a controller, but on PC makes you throw knives at random pedestrians when trying to fight guards (AssCreed). There might be leftover hardwired controller aim assistance that translates to unpredictable mouse behavior (Dead Space.. others)
  8. It's really hard to believe that the same studio made Caine and Lynch.
  9. Easy fix solutions like 'just go out and have some fun', they kinda miss the point. That said it would be helpful if you could force yourself do to these things anyway, it's better than lone introspection.
  10. Looked very Black Hawk Downish, like ever other military shooter the last 10 years. What makes it better ?
  11. Don't think there will be load times between invisible map borders like in Oblivion, well there might be on console.
  12. It's still very high end with the speed things are moving at right now. It will be sufficient for anything but ultra or experimental settings like those in Withcer2. Ram will be an issue since it draws almost the whole world in one go.
  13. The game kinda sucks without augs and silenced upgraded weapons. You completely lack options once you have been discovered. It becomes a cover based shooter, and a bad one.
  14. DXHR DLC I hate being level 1 again. Why did they have to do this to me.
  15. Is borderlands worth 8E ?
  16. I always found these ethnographic survival guides about Japan pretty funny, must be that 'strange factor' that makes people think they wouldn't survive a minute without knowing how to bow correctly in every conceivable situation.
  17. What's best value CPU wise now. Thinking about finally ditching my duo for a quad.
  18. Still looks better than WoW
  19. 1) As we've seen with Wikileaks "airing" is exactly what these leak sites amount to - hot air. Malfeasance in government has to be known about to be fixed, but merely being known is insufficient. There have to be robust accountable bodies in place to tackle the corruption. 2) Most free states have parliamentary committees of elected persons, appointed legally to deal with leaks. 3) The public press handle leaked material all the time, and generally pursue the story, not just air it. What if 2 and 3 fail? Then you're ****ed sideways anyway. At that point the engine of government is so badly twisted that leaking material won't help. Internal oversight is nice when it works. It doesn't all the time. The press can be more worried about the bottom line, lawsuits, etc. and often times don't feel particularly adventurous about being the first to stick their necks out. Ideally whistle blowing entities like Wikileaks hold themselves to a high standard and consider whether the material is in the public interest and in doing so build up a reputation for integrity. It's not a perfect word.
  20. I dunno, if I can't play with you lot on account of ping considerations and not being able to choose server freely... not that interested.
  21. Guild Wars was the only MMO i ever played an extended period. It's probably true that it's not as good as the other offerings out there, but I had fun collecting all the skills and prestige gear and basking in the adoration of noobs at my ludicrously expensive tattoos.
  22. I don't care for Assange personally, but there definitely needs to be someplace to air the dirty laundry of governments considering all the sick twisted things that have been done in the name of national interests.
  23. Didn't the Swedish office of Wikileaks split some time ago to create their own operation because they were fed up with Assange and his top down management style and too much focus on one person. Well, just leak there when you feel the urge folks. I don't like to leak with so much public attention anyway, it spoils my concentration.
  24. Rage has impressive production value, and the shooter mechanics are pretty solid but it lacks that intangible something that makes you care about the world. It feels empthy and MMOish. The made for console inventory and journal fights you constantly so you make an effort to use it as little as possible.
  25. Programs should have some sense of wheter they are nag screen worthy or not. Every time I log into my work computer Adobe acrobat and Flash want me to know that there is a new version. I can't update because of security settings I don't control, but boy am I aware... Can't turn the notifiers off. Ohh joy. I am slowly starting to hate them. Well acrobat I hated already, PDF is a steaming pile of crap, although sometimes necessary.
