  1. Well the protesters last time around were very much trying to overthrow the government. Maybe revolutionaries everywhere have been energized by the success of Maidan. I must admit I'm not sure if the position of the thai army, as in taking power every time the political situation is reaching boiling point, is a good thing or a bad thing long term. It might actually be preventing changes that will move the country forward long term.
  2. This story really has everything. Even Phil 'it's lonely at the top' Fish. It's kinda funny watching dev nerds go at it like Paris Hilton.
  3. So I'm gay ?
  4. 'Hi fellas, long time no see'
  5. My thinking is that writing for CRPGs is usually so rubbish that it doesn't really matter that the PC is a 'blank slate' rather than someone with a past that the player is aware of.
  6. I dunno, I'm mostly annoyed that he has two swords with two different build trees that are mostly idientical. Steel is more crowd control at higher levels but it's irrelevant since there is no choice in what to use, it's decided by what you are facing. One tree with more choices for both swords, or just one sword - cannon be damned. The voice acting is pretty good. Not bothered by being Geralt although I always prefer being able to create my own protagonist.
  7. The hammer is called miau miau ?
  8. Classes aren't supposed to exist in the US, but when 'the blacks' riot it's hard not to see it in those terms, that among other things the cops exist to protect the privileged from the disenfranchised. Guess what movie I just saw.
  9. Trying to get one for my mother but I have no idea what's good. Battery life is important. She would use it for digital camera stuff, web and reading.
  10. Clearly he thought the charges were part of a conspiracy against him, and given the active interest from a whole lot of intelligence agencies that he is likely to have recieved who could blame him. It's like that saying 'It's not paranoia if they are really after you'. Did he do this to himself or was he successfully sidetracked and discredited through other agency. I'm pretty confident in the quality and impartiality of the Swedish courts. He will get a fair shake there.
  11. Ohh come on, what does it matter if it was in Israel. They had to learn crowd control somewhere.
  12. I think there probably still is some remaining institutionalized racism in the US and that is what triggers protests. It's unfortunate that it always seems to center around individual cases which might after all be indicative of nothing. It's all pretty fishy though. Smells like cops covering eachother.
  13. I pretty much always forgo lasers for mechs instead and maybe a shiv or two. It's a dead end after all once you start on gauss. I think there should be some kind of reward for doing laser, like a bonus scope. It did help a bit that long war made lasers more accurate like in the original game so they still have their uses for soldiers with very low aim.
  14. I'm playing classic and I find I'm forced to reload a lot. Before I got power armor it was practically every round. Normal ironman is probably the better choice. I'm down to four remaing council countries largely because there have been no spare resources to develop better interceptors so I get terror attacks which always cost panic. If I cant build the firestorm in time I will lose. Countires come back with an almost full panic bar so I can't do very many base missions. This is due to a bug where after 20 messages of a country leaving the council the game will crash on message nr 21.
  15. He got his back injury lifting. You could say it killed him because the painkiller overdose was definately related. I'm guessing it looked good on camera and gave him a boost to do the shoot if he pumped rigth before.
  16. If you are not a confused teenager who doesn't know anything about life, if you dont have 5 children who are going to starve without you you get to check out whenever you want with no recriminations. Just my opinion.
  17. The way I heard it they have a puddle on the top of their heads and if it dries out, they die. Got to the the most useless mythical creature ever.
  18. Both Tom Hardy and Charlze Theron have major 'serious actor' creds. Interesting to see if they are going to try and flex some of those muscles for this.
  19. Useless information. Unless you're blind of course in which case it's too little information. I got a text today from the workers making parking lines on the street asking everyone to pay attention to the temporary signs. I got a text about a sign. In my street. Felt like strangulating something.
  20. I'm just pissed that I didn't make that game.
  21. I dunno. Israel was kept out of both gulf wars because there was a real fear that the US would lose all it's other ME allies if she was invited to the party. Sadam even launched SCUD missiles hoping that Israel would take the bait. That was a long time ago but it would not be an underestimation to say that Israel is culturally completely isolated in the ME. She has tried for a strategic relationship with Turkey, but Islamism (I don't mean militant Islam as such) is in the ascendancy there. Remember the PM and his ludicrous twitter and FB crackdown.
  22. I hope Israel does not retreat entirely into the 'us against the world' stance that has been kinda guiding its self image since the 6 day war and Yom Kippur war. In a sense it's true that it has to look for its own defense, but I'm just not convinced that Hamas poses any kind of real threat for the existence of Israel. Both sides have stared themselves blind to solutions ensuring that the conflict will last for generations more.
  23. Unconditional surrender mattered because it meant no negotiations with the Axis of any kind. The same stance taken against Napoleon. Stalin was worried Germany would give up enough to ensure peace on the western front. The invasion of China was what made the Japanese position completely untenable, not the bombs, at least not to Japanese leadership, the full scale of the bombs were not apparent right away. They served two purposes, ensuring a Japanese surrender with no ground campaign in Japan, and a message to Stalin that the US was ready to use it. was it necessary in the sense that there would have been no surrender without the bombs, probably not. Starvation would have done the job just as effectively. Considerations for the lives of Japanese civilians was pretty far down the line.
