  1. Are there any devs willing (brave enough) to go in to the depths of hell (the forum threads) and discuss some of the things that are popular right now? Like inventory, xp system, attributes, UI, etc.
  2. The most important question, does it have per kill xp?
  3. Devs here usually avoid topics where the discussion is heated, because it usually means they have to chose a side and that is not in their interest. They will chime in when someone is factually wrong, or they have some new info that will shed light on the matter. To be honest the devs post more on other forums then here, or at least that was the case in the recent past.
  4. Now that you mention it the experience thread in the gameplay discussion forum is missing a lot of people from the previous thread who where very active in the thread before the beta.
  5. There are great threads that deserve some kind of response, also it would be foolish for them to expect everyone to be nice on the internet. They shouldn't wait for anything and respond to the constructive criticism of which there is plenty.
  6. The best thing to do with people like him is to ignore them. Notice how almost everyone is doing it. How are you forced? You keep saying that, but that was simply never the case in IE games.
  7. But this is false, the Kickstarter was started on the premise of "By the Infinity Engine gamers, for the Infinity Engine gamers", so I don't really know where you are coming from with that statement.
  8. You are being deprived of any character progression for a days worth of playing a game, as to why that is bad, well it railroads you in to doing quest to have character progression at all, ie. it removes choice from you. Everything is pretty much explained and discussed in this thread already: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/67140-experience-point-system-in-the-beta-and-onwards/
  9. No, no Stun, you see he was trying to helpful there, it wasn't meant to be a snarky reply. /s
  10. Kill xp doesn't stop you from doing that, it never did.
  11. No, the person I was talking to equated per kill xp with Diablo, then proceeded to tell OP that this is not a game for him if he is primarily interested in combat. I then showed that person that he is wrong, and told him the same thing he said to op. Did you understand now, or do you need more help? Feel free to ask.
  12. Hey, why are you guy defacing soviet monuments?
  13. What does kill xp have to do with what you said?
  14. I didn't play the beta, I saw it in the video from gamescon. I think you get might constitution and some other attribute buff for the most expensive room. I remember the second cheapest giving dexterity, while the cheapest one just lets you rest.
  15. Different rooms give different buffs, the buffs are a boost to attributes, they last until you rest and the buffs are the same for everyone. There is no level scaling in this game, at least not for the trash mobs. That means that creatures don't have levels, so that means that all the creatures of one type are the same (of course with variations like wolf/dire wolf/starved dire wolf/etc.), plus all the creatures are hand placed.
  16. I agree, the xp system is not the be all end all of part of the game and it shouldn't take a disproportionate amount of time from the devs, that is why I want then to switch the system to something they already know, let them give it another shot in the expansion or the next game where they have the time to brain storm and give it more time. Whatever they decide to do with the xp system, I doubt that the game will meet it's deadline, the question is will putting in the IE system take longer then taking the time to figure out how offten they should award xp with the current system.
  17. Heh, you must not have read many of his post on the topic of PoE. Well I'm not looking to make things easy for them, I wanted them to make the best system possible. If they aren't up to the task, well then they shouldn't have messed with the original system.
  18. I disagree, I don't think that will be enough. But this system is worse design if you wanna put it that way. This was mentioned way, way back, maybe not even in this thread or on this topic, there is no bulletproof system. You think that there won't be exploits for the system you described? Think again.
  19. The problem with removing trashmobs is that those maps start to feel empty. That is a problem when you want to make a game with exploration.
  20. By erratic I mean that there is no character progression for doing things you want, but only for the things the developers feel won't harm the ballance of the game. Or to put in more simply you don't get any instant satisfaction from the game. But let's be honest, how many people double dipped in IE games? I never did, did you find yourself forced to go back and kill enemies? Also more importantly how much more xp could you really get for it,as far as I remember only something like one level worth. I think that the problem is blown out of proportions. None of the IE games did this. The power curve was set that if you did all the quest (normally) the game would have been easy.
  21. Do we even know how many quest will have multiple solutions? Aluminiumtrioxid makes it sound like every quest will have a non combat solution, that is something I very much doubt will be the case. That still wouldn't solve the problem, the character progress curve would still be erratic.
