Your right I don't need him or want him to be the best Dps character, the problem I'm gathering is that he is underwehlming in every role including support which is his designed archatype. He isnt a healer, he is moderate at buffing. So whats his playstyle, tank ok. 2 of his passive are directly apposed to one another. If he can't kill anything what good is hasting exhortation? If they give more flames of devotion but reduce the damage let's hope it isn't to significant. Just being playable but a mess design wise does not a fun play through make for me. Also when other classes feel very flexible and strong all around it hurts when others are meh at there design goal with no flexibility From what I have played of the BETA, i'd say that not being able to kill anything will not be a problem, if you tailor your paladin for damage. He can and will do damage

I dont understand why people would skip playing the paladin or any class, just because he isnt nr.1 on damage or whatever. it might just be me, but shouldn't your FIRST playthough be all about roleplaying the character you like. Its not like he can't hold his own, and its not like you can't complete the game with the class. you can always make mr.überpower xxxtreme min/max in another playthough.

POE Chanters are probably the coolest take on a bard iv seen in a game. Atleast song wise, stringing together your own tune is an amazing idea.

hmm. I tried to build a dual wield ranger in the beta. but all his modal's and alot of his skills ranged only, right?, like wounding shoot etc. Seemed like a waste. how would you do it?.

If you use steam alot, like me, I don't see the point of not useing steam for yet another game. its good for updates and open on your computer anyway.

I don't think it has any CGI cut scenes if that is what you are asking. It does has narrated text based story bits, like BG and IWD. And probably some ingame cut scenes.

this ofc works. but its all about the number of clicks. in a 60-70 hour game and 200+ engagements, its just nice to have the combat begin the way you want it to.

agree, just add the option AUTO slow mode when combat begins

I like to use reach weapons on my barbarian, that way I can almost always reach the enemy in the middle, for maximum carnage potential.

They changed that, now when the pet goes down during the fight, the ranger gets afflicted by a malus to damage and precision (things like that) until the end of it. But yeah rangers are about their pet, and their pet is weaker than conventional characters after some xp cap, making the ranger, I guess, a very good early option but lacking in the last levels. Might be wrong about that. thats nice, I just tested it.. I like the idea that the penalty only occurs when it gets downed. I don't see any reason not to pick a ranger now.

I have no doubt that you will be able to complete the game, even on hard with a ranger. And a wood elf ranger is probably you best best on a good racial. from what i'v played of the beta, they can also dish out decent damage. I think the main problem is, that you are mainly a ranged hero. who takes damage if you animal is hurt. But I see no reason as to why you should not pick an elven ranger if that is what you wish to RP as. who really cares if its not the most powerful.. you can always make those characters in another playthough
