As for quality blades, I still like my Swiss bayonet / combat knife from 1915. The steel quality they achieved back then without modern electronics and machines is breathtaking and puts any modern blade under one grand to shame. My German 1908 bayonet is not far behind.

Caution and quick feet is my number one armament since the best fight is the one you are not even involved in. I rather run way than fight, few things are worth fighting for, but things rarely go after plan in emergency situations so its nice to have a backup plan if the first one does not work. My backup plan is a knife since an edged weapon beats fists, and the only fight I want to fight is the one where I have an an advantage in. If my opponent has only fists and I have a knife I have a better chance of winning the fight, and there is also the psychological factor - nobody wants a knife fight so showing that I'm armed and able to inflict a lot of physical damage might make the average hooligan who wants to fight reconsider. And I'm well aware of the places where a knife can and can't be carried. The laws about carrying edged weapons is very open around here. Also I do not consider a screwdriver to be a good weapon, the surface of a knife is much MUCH bigger which means it does far more damage than any screwdriver. Its very easy to slip since it does not have any guard. And its much easier to disarm somebody who uses a screwdriver as a weapon, you can't grab a sharp knife blade and wrestle it out of somebody's hands, a screwdriver can be easily grabbed. There is a reason why people who do need a meele weapon don't carry screwdrivers on their belts or vests. A screwdriver is hard to carry, clumsy and unsafe and therefore a terrible weapon. As for any weapon system, a good knife is an excellent weapon if used correctly and under the right circumstances, same goes for rifles, shotguns, pistols and what have you. As for home defense: two big holes, 12 gauge, #1 Buckshot is all I have to say. Oh and.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ki4hl7NRjWs

I agree with you to 100%, unfortunately getting a concealed carry permit - while in theory possible- is virtually impossible to get as a normal person around here. Which is strange as all the thugs and burglars seem to have a carry permit (lol). So the next best and legal option is to carry a knife.

Today I went to the knife & cutlery store to buy a new carry knife. Asked the shopkeeper if he could make me a few suggestions for a good all-season self defense knife, told him I'm not such a knife pro and I'd appreciate some help. He showed me some interesting tacticool daggers, but they all had the same terrible design flaw. As he was showing me the blades I told him I don't like blades with saw backs since they get stuck between ribs all the time. After a few seconds of awkward silence I added ''Or so I've heard!!'' Needless to say he was kind of ''distanced'' for the rest of the sales talk, but I cant blame myself, its absolutely true that people in WWI in the trenches had massive problems with sawtooth bayonets and trench daggers getting stuck in their enemies bodies. Always use a plain straight blade! But I got what I wanted. Nothing fancy or earth shaking, but it gets the job done, size and weight is nearly perfect. Its pretty damn hard to find a decent dual-edged blade without a sawback. (I've got huge hands, the blade isn't that small)

Of course. A large can for a large man!

Yeah I know, thats what happened to a good part of my stockpile last year, sadly. Though it was not a complete loss, I brought the cans to the shooting range and shot them with my precision rifle at 100 meters. Still, I prefer to drink it. I think this one lasts about 3/4 year or so.

I just bought 20 cans of Löwenbräu wheat beer. Its the only beer I like and this is going to last a long time as I only drink on exercise free days.

I bought a really big tree and I love it. I love overkill.

Use blackpowder instead.

Just saw Joan of Arc, (year 2000 with Milla Jovovich). Actually pretty good, what surprised me the most about this film were the excellent costumes, armors and combat scenes. Felt really good. Also they managed to make her visions and her ''Jesus'' pretty unsettling on many levels. Oh, and Milla was sooooooo damn hot in it.

That's a really pretty gun and I say that as someone who always found your firearm fetish weird In my opinion classic guns are half gun half art so even someone who is not into guns at all can still appreciate the astonishing craftsmanship. Heck, some time ago a friend showed me his sewing machine from 1908, I know absolutely nothing about sewing machines but I instantly loved it because of the clever mechanics, the breathtaking craftsmanship and details. The rifle also comes with some engravings.

Well, good thing he didn't snap and shoot you!

I'm pretty sure that if that famous carpenter ever existed he saw his fair share of gruesome stuff on a daily basis. A lot of bad things happened back then, every single day.

Now THAT is f-----g awesome! You gotta post a video when you take it to the range! Will do. Gonna a take a while till I have the rifle and the custom made bullet mold + patches though so stay tuned. Today I've been on the shooting range, the last time this winter they close it till spring. Still managed to make good groups though, with my scoped (x7 magnification) rifle at 100 meters, 5 shots, which includes the cold bore shot!

Tomorrow I'm going to by a box of turkey hearts. I just cook them in water for about 10 minutes, add salt and eat them. It looks gruesome, it does not smell very great but hearts taste extremely good.

I'm an agnostic like the rest of my family but we see x-mas as tradition and yearly family gathering, not as a Christian holiday.

Today I ordered a new rifle for some serious cash, to be more specific a classic double barrel muzzle loader rifle in .72 caliber, 1850's era. Those were typically used on Safaris to hunt hippo, elephant and other game that can stomp and/or eat you. The caliber is so big you can stick your thumb down the barrels and recoil is definitely not for the inexperienced. This is an elephant rifle after all. I'm not a hunter but I've always loved those rifles, and I love 1800's muzzle loaders. Thats her: Can't wait to get my hands on it.

That is just an excuse...anyone can flying a plane and hit anything...what if the one who fly the plane is a Jew? Rather few non-Muslim people have the desire to commit suicide via capturing airplanes and flying them into buildings full of people.

I can't take anyone seriously who really believes word for word whats written down in some ancient books. Books which originate from old times back when people were still misinformed about a lot of things and did not know a whole lot about their world and their surroundings. I have to admit, they are good for light reading and have some funny and pretty amazing fantasy stories in them (some are pretty brutal and disgusting though, def PEGI 18+), but anyone who believes in that and is not 100% in their head.

It could be a happy end?

From a practical standpoint, core (back, abs and obliques) strength is whats most important. Thats what you need the most if you have to pick up heavy stuff from the floor and move it around or put it on a shelve. Legs are not that important for the every day person since a healthy normal person has already good leg strength from climbing stairs, walking, jumping etc. Leg strength usually surpasses core strength by far. Thats why a beginner should always start with core exercises before attempting serious lifts, core strength is your foundation. Things are very different for athletes though, its very easy to turn the whole thing around and outgrow your legs, especially with the way people train nowadays (only machines, focusing on upper body strength, not doing practical exercises etc.) Here is a fun parody about leg training:

I feel bad for the guys overseas, one candidate is worse than the other. If I had to make my vote I honestly could not even vote for the lesser evil. Don a demented clown, Hillary a dangerous self righteous fanatic.....
