Twitter outrage over the "[spoiler]" quest
You didn't even read it, did you? I don't know why people bother engaging in a textual medium for discussion when they're unwilling to read more than a dozen words at a time.

No, Capitalism - by definition - is a system of free market enterprise based on impartial competition. You're thinking of Cronyism. I'm mad at the twitter user for being retarded, and I'm mad at Obsidian for listening to a retard. The presence or absence of the line has little impact on my overall enjoyment of the game, but it DOES make me worry about the direction the world is going. Read this, for why: http://orogion.deviantart.com/journal/Save-the-Boob-plate-380891149

What a bunch of horse****. The idea that you have to compete with other people in order to prove your worth is inherently unfair to women? If I were a woman I'd be offended.

Twitter outrage over the "[spoiler]" quest
No. As I said, I don't really buy that at all. Again, it is FAR from the most potentially offensive thing in the game. You would have to be unusually sensitive and prone to being offended to find it objectionable in the first place. Unfortunately, twitter is full of such people. If this one limerick "fell through the cracks" then so did a good 60% of the writing in the game.

I have. Their explanations aren't that strong IMO. A relatively small part of the gap can be explained by things like childbirth. The major cause though is that professions where women are in the majority are lower-paid than professions requiring a similar level of skill and/or study where men are in the majority. Construction workers are paid more than nurses, for example, and nursing is every bit as demanding as construction work. Probably because construction is a dangerous job and is less glamorous than working in the medical field. Women are less likely to sacrifice their personal happiness/comfort/safety for money than men are (I'm not just pulling this out of my ass, studies have concluded this - no I don't have source on hand). Hence, men are more likely to work dangerous/unpleasant/taxing positions, like construction or trucker or miner. These positions actually pay fairly well BECAUSE they're so dangerous/unpleasant/taxing.

Because 1. they approved the message initially*, and then removed it later when someone complained 2. the person who complained is freaking insane, and their reasoning is stupid 3. the backer PAID to have their message in the game *Actually Obsidian claims that this particular message 'slipped through' their vetting process. With due respect, that sounds like horse****. It's not even the most out of place, offensive, or disturbing thing in the game, by a wide margin.

You should read some critical studies of the "wage gap".

Twitter outrage over the "[spoiler]" quest
It wasn't a quest. People who donated lots of money through kickstarter got to write their own personal message in the game. You can see them by clicking tombstones. One such backer wrote a short limerick about a lady's man who kills himself after finding out he slept with a dude. It was a short, comedic thing. Someone on twitter (who incidentally believes that all men deserve to die - seriously) took it as an insult against transsexuals. He/she/it complained to Sawyer, and Sawyer said he'd look into it. It got changed in patch 1.03

Japanese portrayals of black people are freaking hilarious.

Funny thing is, the fighting game community is MUCH more diverse than average. In terms of diversity, fighting game tournaments blow sites like Kotaku out of the water. Which is hilarious, given how much whining Kotaku does about diversity in the FGC.

Hey, I'll try this too. I'll go by my top 20 most played games on Steam, in order. Skyrim - no canon default protagonist for any of the Elder Scrolls games. The box art shows a Nord male Dragonborn. Civilization V - no default protagonist, wide variety of ethnicities and both sexes represented among civ leaders Dark Souls - no default protagonist, can make any race or sex you want Dark Souls II - same as DS1 Divinity Original Sin - Default protagonists on box are are a white male AND a white female Crusader Kings II - No default protagonist, but due to the theme & setting the vast majority of useful characters are going to be white males. Still, you could play an African Woman if you were inclined. Box art shows a white male. XCOM Enemy Unkown - faceless protagonist. Soldiers are both men and women from across the globe. Natural Selection II - Marines are men and women, both white. Morrowind - same as Skyrim, but the box art character is a dunmer male Wasteland 2 - no default main character. Men and women of various colors are options. Shadowrun Dragonfall - no default main character, can make men, women, black, white, yellow, green, etc. Xenonauts - same as XCOM Insurgency - all characters are male. Half are American, half are vaguely middle-eastern. The tutorial is given from the perspective of an American soldier. Banished - no main character. The civilians are all white-ish men and women (and children). Warlock Master of the Arcane - no default main character. Game has men, women, skeletons, dragons, etc. Sonic Generations - Sonic the Hedgehog is a male hedgehog Legend of Grimrock - no default character. Portraits include men, women, insects, minotaurs, etc of varying colors Valdis Story Abyssal City - 2 default main characters, 1 white male and 1 white female. Expeditions Conquistador - no default main character. Both male and female spaniards are optional. Box Art shows a generic male Conquistador. Prison Architect - no default main character. Prisoners and workers are all male, but come in a variety of colors. So out of my top 20 most played games, 100% had either no protagonist, no default/canon protagonist, or had a non-white non-male protagonist

Master List of Talents that do not work correctly
I was wondering about that one. I remember staring at the combat log trying to figure out where in the formula my 20 damage was getting added.

Moon Godlike Ability and Healing from Might
The Moon one definitely is. Imagine a party of full Moonkins, constantly healing each other over and over and over.

Obsidian: An apology concerning Limerick change
I swear, mods should lock and sticky this thread. Good post, man. A lot of people are way too eager to get upset.
-
Nerfing: You've GOT to be kidding me - get real Devs
To be fair, I think he meant "get real" as in "stop being foolish".

I really appreciate this game
Hey, now Morrowind and Kotor (2003) Kotor 2 (2004) Jade Empire (2005) (I liked it) Mass Effect 1 (2007) Legend of Grimrock (2012) Really it was just that dark era from 2007 to 2012
-
I really appreciate this game
Both of you are clearly mistaken. I love this game.

The combat system is terrible...
With all due respect, this game was made for people old enough to remember Baldur's Gate. I don't think you're the target audience.
-
The combat system is terrible...
Am I crazy or is this thread a repost? I remember a thread with this exact same title from 1 or 2 days ago...

Moon Godlike Ability and Healing from Might
I believe that Might increases the amount of healing you DO, not the amount you RECEIVE. Or at least its supposed to. This is Obsidian, so for all we know healing scales off of how many times you've double clicked a save game in Cyseal.

Nerfing: You've GOT to be kidding me - get real Devs
Lol what. You can use that argument no matter what they change. "You nerfed Ranger marking??? This is clearly targeted towards solo players, since everyone else will have lots of other options!" "You nerfed Monk's knockback strike??? This is clearly targeted towards solo players, since everyone else will have lots of other options!" "You nerfed Chanter's healing aura??? This is clearly targeted towards solo players, since everyone else will have lots of other options!"
