I feel like people who think Monk isn't good in PoE aren't actually playing a monk for very long. I was unhappy with my monk in the beginning, but now I wreck face. 2 flaming fists, some light armor, and I punch everything to death. Easily the best DPS in my party, with defensive stats on par with Eder.

Stronghold turns are based on quest completion. That's kinda crappy. Are there only a limited number of turns in the game, then? If so, are they more than enough to get everything done? Or are there repeatable quests of some sort? I've only just taken Caed Nua, so I'm not very far in the game. You have a lot of time to do stuff. If you're really worried, then just rest in Caed Nua over and over to pass the time while you build it up. Then resume doing quests.

Wow, you're so edgy and cool. -
Personally, I love monks and I'm really glad that PoE decided to include them. Traditional European fantasy involves exactly 4 archetypes : the knight, the maiden, the sage, and the monster. If you want to act like modern fantasy should stick to the same rules, then you're gonna have to get rid of everything from rogues to druids to priests. Fantasy has evolved over time. Tolkein added the concept of the ranger and the rogue. Robert E. Howard added the concept of the barbarian and the sorcerer. D&D added the concept of the cleric, the wizard, the bard, etc - including (like it or not) monks and psionics.

What I like The reputation system, where your choices influence your reputation. For isntance, you can have a reputation for honesty, or cruelty, or rationality, and these open up new dialogue choices. How I wish they'd improve it Make your party members react to your reputation, similar to how party members would react to you in Baldur's Gate. Being too much of a pacifistic deceiver? Durance doesn't like that. Maybe Durance leaves the party because he doesn't like your attitude. Or maybe party members have a 'morale' modifier which is based on how well they like you. Look at Expedition Conquistador for an example of a game that pulled this off really well.

Twitter is somewhere over there -> Go post a SJW outrage post. It just sounds like something a 15 year old would do. -
Some suggesions for talents
dirigible replied to Mungri's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Wreak Havoc (modal) - Toggle to gain +30% AoE size, but -1 movement and -10 accuracy Channeler (modal) - Toggle to gain +30% Duration on spells and effects, but -30% Action Speed Gourmet - The effects of food last twice as long Glutton - Doubles the effects of food, but the duration is reduced to 33% of normal Furious Assault - regain 1% Endurance every time you Hit an enemy Armor Training I, II - reduce the speed penalty from armor by 10%, 20% Duck and Weave (modal) - doubles the speed penalty from armor, but grants +10 deflection -
This is actually a cool idea. Being able to pick a spell to become per-encounter. Personally, I'd start it sooner. Like, at level 4, pick a level 1 spell. You gain it as a once-per-encounter ability.

Actually, scrap my last comment (can't see it yet to edit - newbie). I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. There's too much overlap with the shorter chant, and you're left unhasted when it's reversed. See: Ah, that's true. But it's true the other way as well. Your haste will wear off soon after starting the fire enchant no matter which way you do it.

Why cant I pre buff?
dirigible replied to k1rage's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If you can prebuff, then you must prebuff, because the designers will have balanced the game around you prebuffing. Every fight will be designed around the idea that your entire party has huge DR, accuracy buffs, etc. So if you DON'T prebuff then you won't stand a chance. Thus, you are forced to take part in the tedium of mandatory prebuffing. Don't like buffing in PoE? Don't do it. Save your priest's spellcasting for enemy debuffs and heals. The game is balanced such that you CAN buff your team up, but you don't HAVE to. There are other strategies that work.
