  1. I dunno what the chip on your shoulder is, but you better HOPE we're a tiny minority of Obsidian's customers. There are currently 625 people browsing this forum. If that's more than half of the people who bought POE then the game just tanked hard.
  2. So I just want to be clear here... The game is too hard for you, in your chosen playstyle... but you refuse to lower the difficulty. INSTEAD you want the devs to rebalance the game so that the game will be easier for you, but without you having to change difficulties. Is that about right?
  3. That's what tooltips are for. Also, it's not like Baldur's Gate was any less complicated. Combat was a lot simpler in BG Ehh, I dunno about that. I picked up BG again for the first time in about a decade. All I could think was "thank god I already knew AD&D rules beforehand or none of this would make sense".
  4. Are you playing on Easy? Because if you're complaining that the game is too hard and you're NOT playing on the easiest difficulty then you just have brain problems.
  5. Nothing. There are those of us who are good with strategic combat and those of us who aren't. The ones crying just aren't, it's like the ugly girl wanting to be pretty, it just won't happen for them unless they go for plastic surgery (mods later to make it easier). RPG games these days have gotten way to easy for the casual gamers and when they don't the casual gamers ruin it by crying until the devs change it. Then those of us who like the challenge throw the game away in disgust of how easy it is and not worth playing anymore. I sure hope they keep the minor difficulty of this game where it is. Actually, dork, you are the ugly girl. That moment when a bunch of greasy neckbeards argue on a forum for a CRPG about which one of them is the pretty girl and which is the ugly girl...
  6. True, but a Fitness+Coordination melee character is going to be a glass cannon in each fight, unless they also invest in Resolve. Yeah I might see about modding, once the game starts to settle down.

  8. Personally, I'd like the Fog of War circle to get larger in the daytime and smaller at night.
  9. You realize that means they did a really good job? If it takes 30 years to find a bug (as opposed to 3 days), that mean the bug was incredibly obscure. Anyway all this experience is really telling me is: never buy an Obsidian game on release.
  10. Well... the original Baldur's Gate had multiplayer. Also, keep in mind that the people who bother to post on Obsidian's forums represent a small minority of the overall players. We are the most hardcore, vocal section of the userbase. The ones most likely to care about small things. I doubt 40% of Obsidian's actual sales will be coming from GOG.
  11. To distract myself from the howling void that is my life, until GOG pushes through patch 1.03, I decided to take a crack at the stats. I know a lot of people aren't totally happy with their current implementation. While I think they works as-is, I also think they could be better. So here's my ideas. Feel free to post your own, as well. Fitness + % Melee damage + % Max Health + Fortitude Defense + Deflection Defense Coordination + Action Speed + Reflex Defense + Deflection Defense - Chance to be interrupted Perception + Chance to notice objects + % Ranged damage + Chance to interrupt + Reflex Defense Intellect + % AOE size + % Duration of Effects + Will Defense Resolve + % Spell power + % Max Endurance + Fortitude Defense + Will Defense Some things to note: Constitution and Strength are rolled into Fitness, bringing the total number of stats down to 5. Thematically, I don't think it's worth having them as two different stats. Generally when a character is strong, they are also tough. When they're tough, they're also strong. That said, mechanically, having more Fitness will give you more Health, but will NOT give you more Endurance. For Endurance, you need Resolve. This adds a bit more depth and customization, while forcing characters who want to be all-around tanky to invest in more stats. Damage bonuses got split between Fitness (for melee), Perception (for ranged), and Resolve (for spells). I think this makes a lot more sense, thematically, and gives characters more of a sense of specialization. Chance to notice traps and hidden items is, from what I understand, based on Mechanics skill? I moved it to Perception. It makes little sense, to me, for it to be tied to Mechanics. I think these stats preserve the goal of having "no wrong choices". Every character can benefit from any stat. A wizard with unusually high Fitness and Perception will fulfill more of a "spellsword" role, using their spells as a compliment to their natural prowess with weaponry. A Fighter with unusually high Intellect and Coordination is going to be focused primarily on crowd controlling the enemy, perhaps less so on tanking blows.
  12. In general, I'm not a big fan of anything that encourages the player to run back and forth between their goal and their safehouse. That said, other people are and that's what mods are for.
  13. "Artistic Freedom" ... what? It was a limerick written by a backer in exchange for cash.
  14. Is this thread about which store we DID redeem through, or which store we WOULD redeem through (if we could do over)? I redeemed through GOG, since I like their DRM free policy. Had I known about the patch snafu, however, I probably would have bought through Steam
  15. I bought The Witcher 2 on GOG as well, but I don't recall anything with patching. Probably because I didn't encounter any major bugs with The Witcher 2. *cough*
  16. You mean... back when bugs were permanent and nothing ever got fixed? Actually I do, too. It meant people were a lot more careful about what they released, and bugs tended to be hard to find.
  17. I had no idea that GoG would take an extra half a week to deliver the patch. How would I have known?
  18. Well... that IS the far North for a lot of people. I'm assuming you'd prefer the devs treat the game like it's set in London, and have dwarves from the far north sound Scottish?
  19. Well, I'm a GoG buyer, and I feel bad for me...
  20. I already had to shelve this game for 5 days, waiting for a patch. If the GoG version is actually going to be 3 days later than the steam version, this makes me seriously reconsider buying games on GoG.
  21. Pick up the stack with left click, then right click to split the stack.
