Clear lightsaber color crystal!
mstormrage replied to Eddo36's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
A light saber isn't a laser weapon (and neither is a blaster; there's recoil visible in the movies and the "beams" don't travel at the speed of light and are not invisible (which they should be if they were a laser)). It's described as a Plasma weapon (sometimes described as a plasma beam within a forcefield). So, the trick to creating an invisible "light saber" would be to shift the resultant spectra of the plasma to the infra-red or to the ultra-violet (both extremes of the spectrum are invisible to humans). -
Star Maps Or Jedi Masters
mstormrage replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
In both games, finding the SM/JM was the penultimate reason for being on the planets. To get there, you fulfilled quests in your search. I thought both KotORs were similar in that regard. The letdown, for me, in KotOR II was the non-engaging storyline (though I am having slightly more fun the second time through) and the fact that no matter what path you choose, the JMs aren't going to live. That didn't even leave me the satisfaction of looting their bodies afterward. In KotOR I you could at least turn Bastila to the DS or LS or six feet under, if you wanted. In KotOR II, you basically had no choice. Yes, you personally could choose LS or DS, but the outcome was exactly the same, except for the accrual of LS or DS points. KotOR II was clearly designed to be much larger than what we received. If that vision had been executed correctly, I don't think we'd be having these polls and questions in regard to which one was "better". But since we are comparing the two games that are out on the retail shelf, I would have to ultimately give the nod to Star Maps because the entire experience was better. All my 0.02 USD, IMO, etc. -
He wasn't force-sensitive in my game. I never converted anyone over to Jedi...

Neither KotOR nor KotOR II care which drive your play disc is in. It will work in either regardless of which drive it was installed from.

Beta testing != QA (Quality Assurance) Beta testing = (a very small) subset of QA And you will find that this definition is standard in every reputable software development firm. At least in our firm we are our own publisher so we don't have to play second fiddle to anyone else. And, no, customers are not supposed to be beta testers (LA/OE, are you listening to that part?).
-
Not where I work. Two completely different things testing for two completely different reasons. Oh, did you believe that you were QA testing Windows XP Professional x64 Edition when you downloaded the beta and the successive RC1 and RC2 editions?
-
A better idea would be to code the game correctly in the first place. How's that for a concept? The developers of MoO ]I[ had access to quite a few QA testers in-house. At least MoO ]I[ was complete before it left the development house (despite being a crappy game). QA testing would not have resulted in a better ending. QA testing would not have caught the missing content. Better Beta testing would have caught these errors, but QA testing (whether internal or external) would not have.

Bingo. I'd be hard pressed to even pay for an expansion at this point. I make it a habit not to reward mediocrity...

the computer i am using is a P4-2.5G <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What's the FSB of your machine? It'll be something like 533 MHz or 800 MHz. If you have an 800 MHz, you will need PC-3200 DDR. As others have posted, knowing who made your motherboard and the model number will go a long way towards helping us help you.
-
You could start by saying what computer it is... :D

Well than you don't like RPGs,exept for the Ks BG2 had it's flaws but overall it kicks the ass of many RPGs launched in the past years <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How about there? Yes, you are that shallow, thank you. I may be an ignorant newbie, but you are just plain ignorant.
-
Don't really care one way or another about the graphics. However, it would be nice to play the game without the bugs hitting you across the face (OE, put a frickin' windshield on the game next time!). In regard to disliking BG II and liking KotOR, it's a matter of preference. I liked one game; I hated another. Is there something wrong with that? BG II didn't appeal to me. KotOR did. <shrugs> That would be akin to me telling you that you don't like vegatables because you don't like broccoli. It's a stupid generalization, as is the assertion that I must hate all RPGs because I hated BG II. "

Can a Dev or a expert on KOTOR2 help me out?
mstormrage replied to icu's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's a lightsaber-equiped only defense. It says so right in the description of the feat. -
KotOR 2 is also a great game. And just because you had problems with their first game doesn't mean you will with their 2nd. They've learned from Lucasarts mistakes and have their own internal QA department now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Internal QA department != Better quality game It's up to the developers to actually fix what the QA department flags.

How many of those reviews were "sponsored"? MoO ]I[ had fantastic reviews before the game came out. It was only after the fans got the piece of crap called a game and noticed how flawed it was before reviewers started being honest. At this point in time I can't give this game a higher rating than 70%. My opinion may change after another playthrough (which I started last night) but as of now I would steer people away from II unless OE and LA can show their support by making a real patch. KotOR I was more seamless than II. Sure, it had a simpler plot (some would say non-existant), but at least there weren't gaping holes in it like in II. II had more potential, but they screwed it up with how shodily the game was put together. For a game built on an existing engine, Obsidian managed to make II look worse than I and introduced numerous bugs in an attempt to make it run better (it doesn't; it runs worse). Before certain people pipe up and start accusing me of being a Bioware phanboi, I've only played two Bioware games: Baldur's Gate II and KotOR. Baldur's Gate II was one of the worst games I have ever played. KotOR was one of the best games I have ever played. With that being said, if it came down to Bioware or Obsidian making KotOR III, I'd say let Bioware make the game but let Obsidian write the story.

I finally finished the game for the first time.

Peragus was my favourite as well. Why? Because it was complete... -
BIG STORYLINE BUGS!!! (Devs read!)
mstormrage replied to Sunchaser's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I took Visas everywhere with me once she became a team member. :D I even got the romance option. After meeting Atris for the last time, the Handmaiden proclaimed her desire for me despite my never making any overtures towards her. Is this a consequence of allowing Atris to live? -
No more console LA games for me. K III only if available on the PC.
-
Yep...you have to try to focus on the quests a bit more...you'll get more experience... once you're level 15...talk to kreia and you can become a prestige class...you don't need to wait level 18... hope you will like like it this time... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think the quests aren't so obviously thrust at you in K II. Probably because the levels are bigger and less linear. In the new game, I am thinking of leveling up at 20 instead of 15 because of the last Sentinel feat you get at L19. :D I may even do a Mace Windu character at some point (Guardian/Master) but I've gotten used to playing as a skilled character, so it may not be my cup of tea. Even with a Sentinel/Watchman combination, I had so many Force points that I may as well had an unlimited force pool...

Apprentices better be actually Apprentices in k3
mstormrage replied to XboxSithLord's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I never got around to converting my characters to Jedi. The Tomb of Freedon Nadd was a little hard with no Jedi support (I took Visas with me on the main planet :D). -
My first playthrough of K I was about 40 hours or so. My first (and only) playthrough on K II was 28H 54M. I'm pretty sure I missed a few quests here and there. Surprisingly, I didn't mind the ending (which is what I thought I would hate). At the ending I said, "I'm done. Thank God!" With that being said, I am starting a new one just to see why I didn't like it the first time around. Ending character was a Sentinel/Watchman (18/9) Lightsider. Isn't this a little low?
-
Take away his "health packs" and he does only last about a minute. The K II villian didn't last much longer, though I was about 7 levels higher than I was in K I. :D

Were you satisfied with KOTOR 2?
mstormrage replied to Eddo36's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Oh, well, that's a pretty close call. You say po-tay-to and I say po-taw-to. -

Well, that would be Foundation and Earth by Isaac Asimov. Worst Asimov Book Ever -
It's hard to believe that RotJ was in the same trilogy as ANH and ESS. Not too much of a stretch of the imagination to see two great films and one bad one in TOT and two bad films and one great one in TNT. TOT = The Original Trilogy TNT = The New Trilogy
