Is this all theatres, or just select ones, or in just certain areas? My wife wanted to see the very next showing, so if there's a benefit from watching it more than once...

I finally finished the game for the first time.

Personal Character Crystal
mstormrage replied to mstormrage's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
What is the mining and/or hssiss trick? I've only played through twice, so I am not that familar with the "exploits" of the game. -
You are aware that deprivation of property (a legal construct) is considered theft (another legal construct). You are aware that distribution of copyrighted material (a legal construct) without consent is considered copyright infringement (a legal construct), aren't you? The only difference is that when the copyright expires, anyone can distribute copyrighted material legally. No matter how long you own your car, it's not legal for me to deprive you of your property. Your whole post is patently false because this entire debate is centered upon what is legal. The fact that you choose to ignore what some Federal Judge has said (as installed by Congress, and therefore the upholder of the law of the land) is just so factually incorrect I am just going to have to call you a troll. There is no intellectual property in a car covered by copyright or trademark. You cannot legally copyright or trademark a car. The car's design may be covered by patent, but when it's out there, anyone can legally clone the car. What you can't do is copy it and sell it.

Actually, the Darth Vader is on life support because of a little touch-'n'-go with some lava has been part of the rumor for over 20 years. EU, in this case, was dead-on. I actually find Knights/Knights II to be set in a much more interesting time-frame than the movies. -
Personal Character Crystal
mstormrage replied to mstormrage's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There are 9 levels available for the crystal. I used KSE to give myself 9.4, so I had a fully upgraded LS-aligned crystal to plop into my lightsaber. So, if Kreia will only upgrade the crystal every 3 level-ups, it will take 24 level-ups from the time you receive the crystal until you can get a "full-strength" crystal. Or is it from the start of the game? Actually, she will tune your crystal for you as soon as you get it, so you only have to get 21 level-ups before it's fully upgraded. Which means I'm going to have to find a way to get a lot more experience before being forced to go to Dantooine the final time. Oh, and Kreia won't talk to you during that time that you have to go to Dantooine, so you need to have her upgrade your crystal before the final confrontation on Onderon. -
Okay, during my last game, I talked with Kreia every time I could so that she could upgrade my crystal 8 times. Has anyone successfully done this? I only got 5 upgrades from her before she "disappeared".

The whole Clone Troopers wiping the asses of Jedis disturbed me too until I realized that in the Lucas universe Bounty Hunters are extremely effective killers of Jedi. Who again were the Clone Troopers? Well, how about clones of a bounty hunter (Jango Fett)? Oh, and something that a fellow co-worker and I discussed: What if "Order 66" was simply the removal of a hypnotic suggestion to not harm the Jedi, because their genetic instinct would be to wipe the Jedi out, being clones of a bounty hunter, and all?
-
Right. And it remains to be proven that you would purchase such computer at the retailer in case you couldn't "clone" it, thus making the retailer lose money with your "theft". Nope, sorry but internet filesharing is not the same as "stealing". No matter what the RIAA/MPAA say. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's also legally not stealing. Despite Kalfear's insistance. He doesn't have the same juice as a Federal Judge who told the RIAA to refrain from calling it theft because it isn't. It's copyright infringement.
-
Oh, I agree with you there. But do you really want to sit through 2001: A Space Odyssey again? Sound is at least half the fun in a movie. I can forgive this inaccuracy because it doesn't detract (to me) from the films.

Give me realistic physics and allow me to use my enemies as human shields or projectiles. :D
-
Are you refering to the battles that take place next to planets/the Death Star? IIRC, the Death Star uses a gravitic field to keep its personnel in place. It's for certain that they didn't use magnetic boots!

I immediately thought that was the implication of Palpatine's revelation that midichlorians could be manipulated to create life. I don't believe that Anakin knew or was told that his mother conceived "by the force". I rather doubt that Lucas would have slipped this in there unless he meant for the audience to grasp this conclusion.

Obi-wan says in ESB, "That boy is our last hope." Yoda replies, "There is another." This is open-ended enough for me to accept that Ben knew all about the twins before Yoda told him, but that he didn't consider Leia to be another hope. At least, that's how I see it...

Should there be finishing moves?
mstormrage replied to Scarlet Crusader's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Great idea. And, as metadigital suggested, there should be an option for a Lightsider to disarm/disable the opponent instead of killing. I had a lot of fun Mind Tricking my opponents (therefore converting them into temporary allies). Why should I be the one to kill everyone? -
Who was the best of the best lightsaber user?
mstormrage replied to Lord Orpheus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Thanks! I knew it was one of the two on the right side of the tombs on Korriban but I didn't go back in the game to check. -
Obi-wan did know about the twins. What he didn't know, until Yoda said it in Ep. V, was that she was another hope. After all, he is the one who broke it to Luke that he had a twin sister.

Downloading isn't stealing. It's copyright infringement. The RI/MPAA both use the loaded term steal so they can make the standard claim that you are immoral, i.e. violating the Biblical command "Thou shalt not steal." All this while they are promoting movies and/or songs about wanton murder, rape, greed, etc. The irony is moving. There cannot be global laws on punishment for copyright infringement because each country has their own laws. The US and the EU diverge considerably on the term of copyright protection, even to the point that distributing a "public domain" copy of something in England to the US can be illegal. The EU accepts 50 years as protectable copyright whereas the US uses the "Sonny Bono" law to grant Author's life + 90 years, or some such BS like that.

Who was the best of the best lightsaber user?
mstormrage replied to Lord Orpheus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
IIRC, but Kreia says that Marko Ragnos was the best lightsabre duelist ever. Shouldn't his name be in the poll? Oh, and Luke falls to the dark side after Ep. VI. But he was using anger in his fight against Vader. IIRC, Luke only chopped off Vader's artificial limb. (I saw this scene no more than two hours ago, so I'm fairly sure I'm correct.) -
Anakin's fall to the dark side actually started before he was accepted for Jedi training: fear for his mother. Then, when he avenged his mother's death at the hands of the Tusken Raiders, he was tipping further down the Dark path. If you accept any part of the EU, Anakin skirted the dark side in the many campains he and Obi-wan shared. EDIT: This is actually in the StarWars.com databank on Anakin Skywalker. So, it's canon. His conversion to the Dark Side in Ep. III was actually rather subtle. First, Palp knew that Anakin was trying to find out how to prevent Padme from dying in childbirth. As my wife pointed out, how do we know that Palp wasn't projecting the death sequence into Anakin's dreams in the first place? Palp made it tempting for Ani to walk along the Dark path by setting the precondition for it. Palp also forcing Anakin to sit on the Jedi Council without the acceptence of the Jedi Masters stirred Anakin's ego again and "forced" the showdown between Anakin and the Council. His skirting the Dark path when he lopped off Dooku's head in the beginning and realising that being Judge, Jury, and Executioner were not the "Jedi Way". For Master Windu to abandon the Jedi Code forced Anakin to view his previous action as being wrong and forced him to doubt that the Jedi were acting in the interest of the Republic. It didn't hurt that Anakin and Palpatine were friends. It was only after Anakin helped Palp destroy Master Windu that Anakin realized that he had no future as a Jedi from that point on. Given these pre-conditions, why would Anakin have acted any differently? In regard to killing off Dooku... This was a pre-condition for Palpatine to have Darth Vader in Ep. IV. "There can be only two. Master and apprentice." I do agree that Dooku's (okay, his stunt double's) sabre performance in this film was sub-standard compared to Ep. II. Just as Kenobi's performance in Ep. II was sub-standard to his performance in Ep. I. Ep. III was, to me, far more enjoyable than I or II. My rating, in order of best to worst is now: V, III, VI, I, III, II. Not quite up to V, but close. My wife was much more irritated by the inconsistancies than I was...

I just finished my second playthrough as a Sentinel/Watchman. My initial stats were: STR 10 DEX 14 CON 14 INT 14 WIS 12 CHA 14 I was supposed to put 4 attribute points into DEX, but the game finished first. So I ended up putting in +3 DEX and +4 CON. 18 CON allowed me to use the D Implants, thus upping my final DEX another +2 (along with all the other stats thanks to the D Universal Implant). My ending undressed stats were: STR 10 DEX 17 CON 24 INT 14 WIS 12 CHA 14 Vitality 460 Force 305 Defense 25 Fortitude 25 Reflex 21 Will 17 My CON without the double bonus on Lightside Mastery would have been 18, but I got a +3 CON bonus being a Lightside Mastery Sentinel and an additional +3 CON bonus being a Lightside Mastery Watchman. My dressed character had: STR 17 DEX 34 CON 32 INT 16 WIS 19 CHA 16 Vitality 576 Force 389 Defense 36 Fortitude 29 Reflex 30 Will 20 My equipment was: Universal D-Package CHA/CON/DEX/INT/STR/WIS +2 Target Assessor Attack Modifier/DEX +2 Bonus Feat: Precise Shot; Targeting 1 Automation Gloves Demolitions/DEX +4; Repair +2 Matuki Adept Robe CON/DEX/STR +2 Defense Bonus 1 Aratech Echo Belt DEX +4/Stealth +10 Lightsaber Attack Modifier 4 Defense Bonus 1 Blaster Bolt Deflection +7 CON +3/DEX +4/STR +3/WIS +5/Regeneration 3 With Force Enlightenment (Master Speed + Master Valor; I had no Force Auras), my stats were: STR 22 DEX 39 CON 37 INT 21 WIS 24 CHA 21 Vitality 634 Force 473 Defense 42 Fortitude 36 Reflex 37 Will 28 EDIT: I used the Melee Finess feat which allows your DEX to be used instead of strength for chance to hit. I am used to a DEX character from KotOR I and I tend to use the same for II. It's too bad that KotOR II forces you to use an extra feat to get DEX to apply when it was calculated automatically in KotOR I...

am i the only one that loved that ending?
mstormrage replied to teegees's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
And KotOR II didn't force you to play the Exile the entire game? The ending that we were given was rushed. The entire game was buggy. Too many cutscenes, especially at the end, forcing the storyline, which until the last 45 minutes or so was far superior to KotOR I, to be sub-standard. OE has admitted they knew the deadline. They produced the game. LA published it. Hopefully, if they ever produce KotOR III, both parties will have learned from their mistakes and at least make sure everything makes sense. -
@Eddo: My apologies for mentioning the Corps thing here. In hindsight I should have used a PM. Best of luck to you for getting through that. In regard to the speed of the de/activation, I am sure that it could be done. It's a matter of whether or not it would be a good idea. I think that Maul's use of Force Push during his duel with Kenobi would be far more effective than de/activating the sabre to "trick" the opponent. In regard to using the force to deactivate the opponent's lightsabre, I feel that that would be far more effective than attempting to de/activate your own sabre and hope you have the timing just right. IIRC, Luke Skywalker's Dark Side lightsabre was activated by the force, i.e. it didn't have an external button. In regard to a Jedi not being fast enough to dodge a real bullet, Jedi Knight II had the Dark Jedi in the game dodging, not deflecting, a disrupter beam. One can argue at what fraction of the speed of light a particle beam or disrupter beam may travel, but it is certain that it exceeds the speed of a pistol or rifle bullet by a significant margin.

Oh, good point! You have to admit that it took him over 20 minutes to make that move. :D However, he was able to win this duel without an off/on subterfuge. Could an off/on attack have worked? Maybe. Likely? Probably not.
