  1. I love the Gref's Rest's bard song as well. Whenever I go into that inn and that song starts playing, I feel compelled to let my party stand around idle so I can listen to the whole thing and enjoy the atmosphere...
  2. Fair enough. First-time players who go to the White March early, may not have been considered sufficiently by the game designers.
  3. The Caed Nua bounties slowly introduce you to the concept. The first bounties you get in Caed Nua are not too difficult, and spawn in areas you will have already cleared (so that they won't interfere with exploration). Then they get progressively more difficult, and start to appear in areas you may not have explored yet. Then by the time you get to the White March and get offered the Stalwart bounties, you should already know what to expect...
  4. Bounties are explicitly designed as optional combat challenges that are more difficult than the surrounding content. If you don't want that kind of challenge, don't accept bounty quests.
  5. No way, no how. It's the fact that Durance has done all these things yet had more or less good reasons for doing so that makes him a good character. I don't think he had good reasons many of those things. Especially not the brutal religious persecution after the Saint's War was won and Eothas was no longer a threat. I'd say he did those things because he simply doesn't care about harm to innocents. His philosophy is basically that everyone should be made to suffer and that those who don't come out of it stronger were worthless (i.e. not worth caring about) to begin with. He would definitely be evil in the D&D spectrum.
  6. I thought you can just click the little "eye" icon on the portrait in the character record screen, to change it? (Can't check right now.)
  7. Another variation, now with black hood (for Pale Elf, Wood Elf and Meadow Human). This is fun!
  8. @peko Did you mean the male one ("male_human_q")? I had a go at pale-ifying it, and just for the lulz also made two variants with shifted background/clothing colors: (In case someone wants to play around with different colors, you can use this original and this layer mask.)
  9. @peko There are multiple portraits like that in the game, at least one of which is already meant to be a Pale elf. Which one do you mean?
  10. Will we also get to see the submissions that didn't win?
  11. Ah in that case I guess the Random Number Goddess hated me...
  12. In the lower Flames-That-Whisper Cavern, there are two nasty wire traps which on 3.01 I can't disarm with Mechanics 11. Other than that is has been smooth sailing so far, as far as locks and traps are concerned.
  13. Being able to try out different character builds, and being able to experience the scripted companion's banter which makes the game come alive much more, are both things that greatly improve the game's replayability. Thanks to the the 'AttributeScore' cheat command, we didn't have to choose between those two things. Please don't make us choose...
  14. Well, Durance is not a representative example - he's the best of the litter. Eder is fine, and several of the minor roles are great as well (e.g. the Steward in Caed Nua). But overall, OP has a point. (And the player soundsets which we can choose for the Watcher and hired companions, are especially bland.)
  15. One of the new stronghold companion adventures promises an item called "ycg Br Tomb Fragment". Is that an error? The fact that "ycg Br" starts with a lowercase letter and lacks vowels, seems pretty strange at least.
  16. You cannot do all their quests. You can only do the first quest from both, and than you have to choose which faction's second quest you do. After this second quest you'll get the invite. More details on the wiki: The Hermit of Hadret House
  17. I like that there are attacks in the courtyard now: In 2.x I whenever I clicked "manual resolve" for an attack it played out in the Great Hall, which seemed silly. Also, the fleshed-out companion adventures are a nice touch. We've got a complete list of them on the wiki now btw: Caed Nua#Adventures
  18. That happened to me once in 2.01 or so when I messed up my installation because I used a base game installer and expansion installer with different versions. If you're installing manually using GOG.com installers, make sure you've downloaded the latest expansion installers matching the exact same game version as the base game. If you're using automated installation with Steam or Gog Galaxy, have it verify the integrity of your game files.
  19. ^ This. How many moon/fire/nature godlike NPCs are even in the game if you don't count backer NPCs? I can't actually think of any on the spot. Just gold-plated godlikes everywhere. That's what happens when you let over a hundred fans design an NPC each - they all want to make theirs stand out and be special, and so a disproportionate percentage of them will go for the most funky and "rare" race/class/etc options.
  20. Does it mean that the enemies have to be below 40% Endurance when my character lands the killing blow, or that my character has to be below 40% Endurance when she makes the kill? Because neither seems to be the case right now... I had my 100% Endurance Paladin go around and one-shot-murder 100% Endurance civilians in Copperlane with this sword to test it, and every kill increased that counter.
  21. Soulbound doesn't have to mean overpowered. The unlock conditions could make sure that you can't upgrade it too quickly. Either by tying unlocks to character levels or points in the main story line, or by using conditions like "Have 30 Might" - which is actually used by some of the White March 2 soulbound weapons and would be difficult to achieve on a non min-maxed Durance until late in the game when you have high-level buffs and Might-boosting equipment.
  22. Those are the installers for: Pillars of Eternity v3.01.977 The White March Part I v2.00.0706 The White March Part II v3.00.967 You need to download the new v3.01 installers for White March parts 1 and 2. PS: This is what the three installers for v3.01 are called: gog_pillars_of_eternity_2.11.0.15.sh gog_pillars_of_eternity_white_march_part_1_dlc_2.5.0.7.sh gog_pillars_of_eternity_white_march_part_2_dlc_2.1.0.2.sh And yes, it is super annoying that GOG uses their own versioning scheme rather than including the official versions in the installer filenames. I've already complained to their customer support about it.
