Ive been reading about this platform for a while now, very interesting. AFAIK, the reason it hurts to be hit by this is that it heats the water in your skin and yes, 130F hurts. I also believe thats its lowest setting and can be dialed up easily. Pity we wont have a chance to deploy it in Iraq and get some real world experience with its performance, potential counter measures, maintenance in the field/resistance to damage, etc... I see a lot of promise with this especially considering its excellent downfield range.

Haha, I wasted time converting those figures back to metric before I realised where you got the figures. According to wiki its more like 2 kg of TNT. Hmm, that seems fairly worthless for shore bombardment, anti-ship, anti-tank.....well, pretty much anything other then anti-missle and anti-aircraft defence.

Do 12-ounce curls and smoking count as sports? I kid, I kid. I suppose the only actual sport I do is golf. I dont really consider it a physically demading activity because, well, I drive a cart around the course whist smoking and drinking heavily, only getting out of the cart long enough to hit my ball or ridicule one of my buddies for hitting it like a Sally.

Fascinating. The seeming scale of the picture looks like they have gotten these down to a managable size now. Wish they would have discussed the power generation/consumption of the gun and how frequently it can be fired. That's probably a state secret, don't you think? Not sure the Navy wants every country to start their own super-weapon production, now that they have just got theirs ... Lol, I suppose, if youre a stickler for "state secrets" and "national security". I was really more interested in whether or not they had worked out the kinks outlined in the Wiki article on railguns such as the rails needing replacement after almost ever shot. Also, as Gorth pointed out, they still require a ridiculous amount of juice.

I think the most ominous sound in the world is the sound of a single action revolver cylinder rotating as the hammer is locked. That soft little triple click is as loud as thunder, especially when it is coming from behind you. Heh, I would vote for the sound of a pump action shotgun. The funnest weapon Ive fired is the MAK-90 (the "sport" version of an AK-47). Great accuracy right out of the box and a satisfying sound when fired. I currently own the pistol that was my fathers back in the day when he was a cop, a Colt .357 Super Trooper II.

I cant wait for this to come back on. Caught a preview the other day that said they will be introducing another new Hero in the first episode that supposed to be uber powerful.
