  1. Not to mix in too much reality here, but are the bows really oversized? Werent English longbows around 6 feet from end to end?
  2. Of course it's a divergence from societal norms. That's just a statement of the obvious though, rather than providing any sort of reason. If it wasn't a divergence from societal norms, it wouldn't be an issue at all. Tomboy only applies to younger women. However, a "tomboy" is certainly more accepted than an effeminate young man. Why is that? Both are divergences from societal norms, yet one will be significantly more ostracized than the other. Why is that? Because its a "mans world" and men are expected to be "manly"? IMO, in our "mans world", being an effeminate male (even if straight), or being gay, is a sign of weakness when compared to the male norm, not because we think that person wants to be a female and we think less of females. I also think our male dominated society, on some level, finds female homosexuality to be arousing, thus more acceptable, but that may just be me.
  3. Yes, but why do you think that is? I think you agree with me more than you disagree. As you mention, the problem with the little boy is the assumption that he is either gay, or will grow up to be gay. And what is he doing by being gay? He is lowering himself to being like a woman. The stereotype of gay men is that they are like women, they enjoy and take part in the kinds of things that only women are supposed to. Gay men are like women and thus less than men. When a straight man freaks out because a gay man came onto him, it's because he's scared it will cast doubt on his own sexuality. People might think he is is gay, people might think he is less than a real man, more like a woman. Homophobia is not a fear of people who are gay, it's a fear of an association with homosexuality, having your masculinity and maleness put it doubt. I dont think the lack of acceptance for homosexuality is due to fears over a male lowering himself to being like a woman, but more based on the fact that its a rather large divergence from societal norms. I think anything that strays too far off the norms of the society you live in suffers the same ostricism. After all "tomboy" is not complimentary, we are not elevating the female for acting male, we are specifically point out how that female is different from the female norm.
  4. Wow, the V2 is one hell of a machine, but that price doesnt include a display? Ouch. Whats the processor speed of the 950 chipset? As to your question, sorry but Ive never heard of iBUYPOWER.
  5. I disagree on this point. I dont think its so much that a female is "elevating" herself while a male would be "lowering" himself as it is a (wrongful) assumption on the males sexuality. Homosexual acceptance has come a long way but, imo, a homosexual male is much less acceptable to society then a homosexual female.
  6. ^Did you actually see it in its full 3D glory?
  7. Yikes, they had to swear to remain virgins! Whats the point of having buxom female bodyguards if they are virgins? Also, not as hot as Israelis:
  8. How will this stop them from drinking? They better be carrying a scarlet letter or how else would a bartender know they have been "outlawed from drinking". Also, arent bars in the UK just allowed to toss and ban someone? There has to be a law for this? Ever hear of a bouncer?
  9. Yes, they do rock ridiculously hard. Last time I saw them was back in '95 in Vegas, during the Heatseeker tour iirc. Do they still end the show with two huge cannons rising from the stage while playing For those about to rock? Man, I can still remember the concussive force hitting me in the chest when they fired those cannons.
  10. Is she breaking the 4th wall there or am I reading it out of context?
  11. You have a physical document you need to digitize? Any scanner offers that. If its just a one off project, use the one at the library, although they are pretty cheap to buy too.
  12. Heh, the name "Shlomo" always makes me laugh.
  13. What was there?
  14. Wow, really sorry to hear that. My condolences.
  15. Hmm, was that a Borg sphere right there at the end?
  16. Honestly, I dunno. I think Im fixated on it now, lol. Im more curious if it was a design decision after the NWN2 conga-line-to-the-mage-while-ignoring-all-else mini backlash.
  17. It had it coming I say.
  18. Yeah maybe, and Im not striving for reality here, but religon is a very personal subject for most people. If you can take a giant dump on your party members most holy of holies and then tap dance your way out of it, what could you possibly do to piss them off to the point of leaving/attacking? I just want to see some deal breakers in there too and if you can get away with that, I dont know what you could do to really drive them away.
  19. See, thats a flaw imo. Certain things shouldnt be persuadable, like someones life long religon. "OMG, you just desecrated our most holy relic!!!uno11!" "Yeah, but I had to to heal the old dude. "Oh, okay".
  20. That was pretty badass.
  21. Wouldnt that be the wizard?
  22. Only if you buy the CE.
  23. Maybe because the picture only shows four classes to choose from? Shaman (?), Warrior, Sorseress, Monk.
  24. Well, there are plenty of people with severe carpal tunnel syndrome who are always looking for new ways to interact with their computers. There are even some mice that can be used with your feet. From what I can see, that keyboard would be pretty useful for physically impaired people who might not have the manual dexterity to type a bunch of keys quickly. Although it does cost 400 dollars. Of course, but that doesnt make it any less stupid looking. My boss used to use this: and it was a real hoot to watch him type. The little mirrors on the sides are obviously so you can see the keys but they even took the extra step of printing the letters backwards on the keyboard so they would show up correctly in the mirrors.
