Google 'Perseverance rover' today for a fun Mars landing surprise.

Im stoked to see if the Ingenuity helicopter will fly.

Heh, one of my friends is like that too, she wont go anywhere without her giant pit bull. So since I got my new kitties we had to move the drinking to her place.

I just checked Wiki and it looks like the entire lander will parachute/rocket to the surface and then deploy the rover.

According to the weather forecast that Im looking at right now, between 22-28 Feb, the high temperatures for the day (in my area) will be 34/41/39/34/39/40/43F. Why is this noteworthy? Because it is above freezing and due to the hella amounts of snow that we have on the ground the news channels are warning of flooding due to the snowmelt. Now I could walk down a few flights of stairs and check the operation of my sump pump, or I could do absolutely nothing at all to prepare for possible water intrusion. One of these actions can potentially prevent problems, while the other will allow me the opportunity to immediately whine into the internet the minute my service are restored. Hmm, what to do, what to do? 🤔

That reminds me, Ive always wanted one of those backup generators that runs on NG and is permanently wired into the home. It even turns itself on when it senses a power outage. But alas, Im cheap and my utilities almost never go out. Even when they do its measured in minutes, not hours/days.

Wowweewowwow. Even though Im a miser (the furnace is set to 68 in the winter and the AC to 76 in the summer) none of my utilities would come anywhere near that, maybe on average $175.00/month for each. I got a ~$300 natural gas bill one winter month a few years ago and that almost made me clutch my chest. My water bill is combined with my sewer bill and its ridiculously low, around $40/month. Ive got no complaints about utility prices.
