What You've Done Today - As the World Turns
My father died when I was 7 so I never had the opportunity to learn anything from him. For some reason my mind just easily understands and remembers mechanical / plumbing / electrical systems. I do get satisfaction from maintaining / repairing my stuff but the primary motivation is saving money. Yeah my wife pretty much expects me to fix everything. But I have taught my kid how to changed brakes, change a tire, basic AC/furnace maintenance, minor electrical installation (plugs, ceiling fans, etc.)... that sort of thing.

I have a very strong knack of "learn by seeing", even once, so all the DIY stuff I know I learned by somebody showing me or by watching over the repairpersons shoulder. I also have a PhD in RTFM which will get you through any project. The only thing I wont mess with is "black pipe" which carries NG throughout my home. Even though I know how to do it, I prefer to leave that to the professionals.

Nice! Ive never defrosted a refrigerator but I assume you just unplug it and leave the doors open? Im curious, your "household insurance" can be used on anything big or small (AC / heat) or is only for appliances (fridge, washing machine, etc.)? As you will learn, the costs of the actual materials required to perform a fix as usually very affordable. Where you take the biggest hit is usually in the "labor charges". The more you learn to do yourself, the more you will save in this category.

Look at it this way, maybe we'll learn about whatever childhood trauma made Cruella into the woman she is in 101 Dalmatians. Seems topical for the times.- Need help with a character
I think they mean that stats dont really matter. You can build any character with any stat distribution and its impossible to fail, right? Wasnt that specifically one of the points of PoE?- New Scientific Discoveries, Part Drei

According to the weather forecast that Im looking at right now, between 22-28 Feb, the high temperatures for the day (in my area) will be 34/41/39/34/39/40/43F. Why is this noteworthy? Because it is above freezing and due to the hella amounts of snow that we have on the ground the news channels are warning of flooding due to the snowmelt. Now I could walk down a few flights of stairs and check the operation of my sump pump, or I could do absolutely nothing at all to prepare for possible water intrusion. One of these actions can potentially prevent problems, while the other will allow me the opportunity to immediately whine into the internet the minute my service are restored. Hmm, what to do, what to do? 🤔- What You've Done Today - As the World Turns
Congrats on your raise, Azdeus!- Politics US Edition (2021-vol 2)
Tis just a pet peeve of mine when people do piss all to prepare for or work through a situation and then whine piteously about how enough isnt be done for them. Moronic excuses flowing like the finest whiskey.- New Scientific Discoveries, Part Drei

I cant help but wonder if the same clowns beleaguered souls also didnt have space in their home/money to stock up during the Covid lockdown. Probably had to wipe their fanny with their own socks? Pehaps we could sell Texas back to Mexico, and Alaska back to Russia, and use those funds for some sweet sweet UBI. You know who can afford a bag of rice and 10 gallons of water? Thats right, people on UBI.- Politics US Edition (2021-vol 2)
