I would not say 'right' but in that specific case you must agree that Obsidian is now profiting from my previouse pirating Another example could be some small local band. They will never sell their music until enough of people start listening to it, so they are happy that someone copy their CDs and spread it between people, so they then come to their concerts. another example - pharmacetic company create cure fort cancer, but keep it secret and sell it for milions, dont you think that then it would be 'right' to 'pirate' that recepture and sell it for low cost to all affected? (really far from topic I know. but principle of copyright is same) You dont have to have 'right' to do something which in the end become beneficial to others. Womens in muslim states doesnt have 'rights' but I think even you agree that it would be good if they have them no? even if its against law currently (I know, this is really 'out of place' example)

I would say we should care about pirating purely on the principle. Even if you don't think it impacts the revenue stream of a company the real question you need to ask yourself is actually a simple one " what right do you have to play a game, without paying for it, that a company has spent months if not years developing? " Thats already answeard, once someone have enough cash they start buying it instead of pirating, actualy if I never start playing pirated games, I would probably not be here today backing up PoE

as vol would says, "no." also, http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/66262-piracy-or-not/?p=1454894 HA! Good Fun! Sorry, my math is not strongest, but if producer make 0 for not selling, or 0 for someone else pirate it, its still 0 in my book, am I missing something?

wait, isnt pirating same thing as not buying in terms of profit for producer?

Malc you have to admit its always better playing an RPG where you can explore the various Romance arcs? Nope he doesn't. Planescape: Torment Arcanum of Steampunk and Magik Obscura Vampire: Bloodlines To name a few. An engaging story does not need active romantic pursuits for the protagonist to engage in. Romance does not make writing engaging or good just by being present. Good writing is what makes writing good. Ideally, if the romantic arcs were well written and did not take away resources from other aspects of the game, then, if they weren't forced down people's throats, one could make an argument that it is always better to have more options. But it is not better to play a game with crap on the side just for having crap on the side over one that doesn't have that. After all, most of us here enjoy a good steak, none of us though would ask for the cow to crap next to the plate. (yeah I know, terrible analogy. Just pretend it was said by Al Pacino or someone else who can get away with saying anything in a movie.) I didn't explain my point properly. I'm not saying you have to have Romance to have an engaging RPG ( but I do think it enhances and makes party interaction more significant ) I am saying if an RPG offers optional Romance its better to partake of them than to ignore them Let's try another analogy... Would you in real life take part in "optional" romance with someone who is not attractive for you or would you rather ignore it? I bet Bruce will aways take part in 'opinional' romance just to test dialogues and sex scene, and then tell us about it on forums with evaluation on each part

Are you aware that Netflix, Amazon, Hulu is not available to more than 6 billions of people living on this planet? You are really missing the point. More than half of those people live in poverty. Is their access to the latest Game of Thrones episode really the most important issue? We are talking about entertainment. Stop trying to make it into some grand social justice issue. I am not going to oppose you but culture or entertainment is part of life, if you would earn just enough money to buy food/housing. would you rest of the day stare into wall if you can almost for free watch some movie on internet? Man cannot live by bread alone

shush. don't you realize that it is complete unfair that some folks can afford ferraris and private jets? is nothing we can do about such injustice, but piracy helps level the playing field, if only a smidgen. no longer will expensive day one releases o' software be enjoyed only by the rich. sure, we could says that, particularly for games, all one needs do is wait a year and the title will likely be 50% as expensive, but is that a hurdle the damned bourgeois need consider? no! is manifest inequitable, and folks in eastern europe and southeast asia have no choice but to pirate games and movies in their fight to make the world a better place for puppies, grandmothers and cancer patients. does shadysands have something against cancer patients, grandmothers and puppies? HA! Good Fun! Not sure if that was good topic for irony Ha! Stupid Fun!

If you set your bar on humanity on such things as copyright violation I feel sorry for you, I would be more interested how did you act against mining companies which plunder your country? Maybe I am wrong but i think you did nothing against it - but I know, its easy to talk on forums about morality than actualy do something meaningfull

I think some people look on it only from POV of amercans - then yes, most prices are bargain, but 60 bucks for game can be half of month income for someone not living in capitalist paradise

Good old fallout, now-one cares if slaver is black or white, as long as I can stuff myself with psycho and go berzerg on those pesky childrens in Den, god I hate them so much -
As someone mentioned steam having good price policy.... well until they dont change their mind of euro = dollar 1:1 i am not going to buy ANY new game here, most of my games on steam are 1. bought somewhere else 2. in ridiculouse promotions eg 50% off

Is problem that coping information is easy or its benefit?

Completely my point of view: 1) If you pirate something just to test it and then buy it if you like it its ok 2) if you buy it and then share it with your friends its ok (they can buy it later but then its their moral view on it) 3) if you just pirate it for sake to not pay its wrong 4) if you buy it and then share to broad audience its wrong 5) shady are is when you would buy it but there is some "personal principle" (for me for example game can be played only with ORIGIN or require ALWAYS ONLINE for SINGLE PLAYER) I can justify to not support that product by buying - its really heavily individual *just for note, I dont pirate any game on Origin so far - most of them doesnt even have value of data downloaded

I am really for BG1 style black/white drawnings 1) it remains me PnP sessions where DM draw what is happening 2) its quite cheap for development and graphic artists have mostly all work complete later in development so they dont take resources for important work -

A little, i am curiouse why they would leave such culture if magic was real - no need to move to technology, thats the point. But now we are probably going into evolution discusion and its really OT -

I dont think they arent, but not that shamanistic primal magic, but more priest like or just clasical mage (aka mystic, astronomer etc). at least it doesnt seems like fit their culture. but I think we are getting quite OT here -

Why do you figure the Vailians used to have druids and shamans but stopped believing in them? As far as I know, Italians or their cultural predecessors (Romans, Etruscans, Greeks) never did. They encountered Gaulish (Celtic) druids, of course, and reported on them -- just like the Vailians are (presumably) encountering Glanfathan druids. (If you think that Renaissance people didn't believe that magicians couldn't cast real spells, by the way, you'd be mistaken. Witch trials went on looong after the Renaissance.) ok not druids but their equivalent in their culture - eg. witches, sorcerers, seers pretty much anyone able to cast spells, doubt that there is culture which didnt practised any magic. And yes witches were there many years after renesaince and people belived that they can curse them etc, but never relly seen them casting physical manifestation of it. And as I already stated before - Church make them evil devil doubling persons, if there were not Church, they would be recognized as seers, druids, shamans etc. -
That sounds awesome, and great fun, I'd have paid money for it if it was'nt for the fact that it'd come loaded with online DRM; Origin or Steam. I am quite ok with Steam, at least they sell all games, but closed platform like Oriign is no go for me
