That is called a "gubbkeps" in Sweden and its illegal to wear one if you're born before 1925. trans: 'gaffer cap' as in old man

Mafia was a superior game to Godfather, and since Godfather 2 isnt exactly a top notch game, I think Mafia 2 will be the top dog yet again. I tried GF2 for a couple of hours and I didnt like it at all. Dated graphics, awkward controls and uninteresting storyline. Its not at all like GTA4 vs. Saints Row 2, where SR2 is a fun game in its own right as a less serious GTA.

I think all these socialising sites are complete rubbish. I dont have myspace, facebook, twitter, linkedin, or a damn youtube account. If my friends want to reach me, Ive got xmp,msn and ICQ.

If you're interested here is my twitter feed where I catalogue my fecal droppings. I forgot to update this week but I can feel one comming on rigt nows so subscribe to https://twitter.com/manloverulesok Yes, it does. ..and for companies etc., to have twitter feeds its just completely idiotic. 140 words is barely enough to say "had a banana, it tasted funny but alright", its just daft to try and squeeze in news on how a game is developing and so on. I hope Twitter dies out quickly before the whole world turns mad.

Come on, hats are not cool. It doesnt matter how many levels or irony you wear it with, its still like stapling a sign that says "big fat idiot" to your forehead. We have this friend who always wears a fedora. We've been saying he looks like an ass in it, but he thinks its a joke. Its been two years and he's still like "That's so funny, guys." but we're completely serious. In summer, when the sun is really bright I might wear a fishing hat at times. But thats just because I think wearing sunglasses is even more ridiculous than wearing a hat. And I do look like a complete idiot in that fishing hat.

Actually, every organic lifeform known to man looks silly in a hat. Even in the heydays of hat-wearing, the coolest cats on the block did not wear them. Irrefutable evidence: do a google imagesearch on Cary Grant, Ive looked 5 pages down and there is not a single photo in which he is wearing a hat. Not even Humphrey Bogart wore hats privately, only when he played Sam Spade.

You forgot about 3) a bloody idiot. Wearing a hat without some sort of practical intent, like a helmet at a construction site, is ridiculous and should be avoided.

Modding Was Better When it was Underground
Kaftan Barlast replied to MacCorp's topic in Way Off-Topic
A lot of times modding is just like that. You take a toaster and bash it with a hammer trying to make it look like a waffel iron, sometimes you get kind of close, but usually not. You mean apart from the Kps, the dishwasher, the cellarman, the wine waiter... Well, I hope you're proud of yourself for ruining my analogy, mr fancypants! -

We humans are in alot of ways defined by our taste and interests, and if part of yourself becomes open mainstream, you lose a part of your identity. So its completely natural to be protective of your "subcultural territory". Just this weekend, an old band I like played in town. They are not popular and have a very small following. But there was some buzz at school and people started passing out links to their songs and so on. I felt like they were trying to steal this band from me. Im so used to it being just me and three other guys who like them. Fortunantly, people lost interest, didnt go to the concert and so I got to keep em all for myself. -

The only problem with the widespread modding we have today, is that there are so many bad and mediocre mods that its really hard to find the good ones. Which in turn means that it is increadibly difficult to "break through" with your mod, it can be the greatest thing ever, but you need people to play it for it to get noticed. And since you need to get noticed for people to download your mod, its kind of a catch 22. -
No, if you reinstall windows or upgrade your hardware you will lose one installation permanently. This is contrast to professional software DRM, where you have can install on two or three different computers at the same time, but you have unlimited installs. You can never run out of installs for 3ds Max for example.

The only game Ive ever got that from was Deadspace because the camera bobs and jiggles around all the time. But it could have been something I ate. COD4s camera is rock-solid, no one should have problem with that. Unless, you move the mouse around all the time.

You're a poopiehead. In ancient times, modding was awkward and hieously complicated and no mod ever became as good as it could have been because the devs never released their tools. -
First robot controlled exclusively by living brain
Kaftan Barlast replied to Arkan's topic in Way Off-Topic
I think this is quite important, that they've actually successfully created not only a working hardware-to-brain tissue link, but to make the whole "brain" hook itself up and work with the robot is friggin awesome. And I scoff at people who start to fantasize about a thinking, feeling AI. What you want is an AI with only the lower functions of an organic brain that are very hard to do with electronics; motor skills, sensory perception etc. and those lower functions would in turn be controlled by electronics and software. That way, you would get a robot that would be able to perform complex tasks, but with complete reliability and control. I mean, you wouldnt want your lawnmower or your refridgerator to be an individual. They're tools, not pets. And with 50,000-100,000 neurons, this robot is about as clever as an insect. A ratbrain has aboot 15 million. -
You read the story crap? Yeah, the princess is really his girlfriend whatever that went all emo and went off somewhere. Dont care.

Thing is, Caprica doesnt look or feel anything like BSG. It might aswell be something completely different from another creator in another universe. I dont even think it was mad to appeal to BSG fans in the first place. My first thought was "Aw frack.. not another O.C but set in the future" ..and the "not like BSG" thing is a bad thing, btw.
-
I thought had aired in the US already? Well, you havent missed anything. Unless you're one of those people who love Joss Wheedon, then you'll probably enjoy Caprica.

Id watch it if there was a minimum of boring dev guys stuttering out acceptance speeches and lots of in-between entertainment. Who got what award would be completely uninteresting since it would be either decided by sales, by who had the highest advertising budget or just the complete cointoss of a jury voting.
-
I just saw the pilot and I have to say that its more or less exactly what I feared/expected. Its not like they've taken the fun out of BSG, they havent taken ANYTHING from BSG. The two shows have only superficial similarities, and this is not a good thing. The story is not that interesting, the cast is not good(awful teenage actors), the attempts at moral and ethical dilemmas are all old chestnuts and its chock full of really distasteful religious crap. But its not actually bad, just mediocre. I think they should have moved on to a new thing instead of trying to milk BSG with something as uninteresting as this.
-
Ive played with it before, it does some very odd and quick selections that made me wonder wether it looks at other websites Im browsig and so on. It was like: Are you thinking of a television presenter? Yes. Does he have long hair? Yes. Its james May, isnt it? WTF?!
-
JE was awesome, but I think ME is still very strong on the roleplaying front with the dialogue system. I really liked that the alternatives are logicly sorted by type of response, and that they dont give away the whole line so you never know what your character will actually say.

My easter went pretty well, I didnt vomit until well after I was safely home and my toilet seat is so close to the sink that I can poop and puke at the same time. Its awesome. Also, I talked to a real girl.
