I think everyone has lost perspective on what a bussiness was originally meant for: The primary function of a manufacturer of RPGs is to make and supply the public with the best possible RPGs they can make. As like how grocery stores are there to supply the people with food, the transportation company to make sure you can get where you need to go, the phone company so you can call or send data where you need to. *shakes fist*

As you probably already know, new Xbox games retail for about 25% more than the exact same for PC for no reason at all except that MS wants more money. Now looking at prices for upcomming 360 games I see that they retail for 25% more than the Xbox counterparts and 50% more than PC Examples (in swede money) Oblivion (PC) 400 SEK Oblivion (360) 600 SEK!! Gun (PC) 430 Gun (Xbox) 570 Gun (360) 650!!! M$ are practicly encouraging people to chip their 360s and pirate games by charging such enormous overprices.

Generally speaking, Film producers approach sequels "Dang! This film made some serious $$$, lets squeeze another one out quick and ride the hype!" While game developers go "lets take everything we learned while making the first game and make the sequel an even better one!"

K2 is perhaps the best CRPG Ive ever played, it was without a doubt the most immersive playing experience and no other game rival the depth of its story and characters. Of course, seeing a characters face whilst hearing a real actor say the lines makes it seem a lot deeper than if youre staring at a sprite and reading text

The thing is, for every part that speaks of love and nice things in the Bible and Koran or Tora or whatever.. there is atleast one passage about damnation, punishment and all sorts of nasty things that can be used to justify anything from beating your children to ethnic cleansing. and it doesnt take a lot to give it a fundamentalist bend. In fact, there are plenty of passages that does in fact directly encourage violence.

RPG are not dying out bu the single player CRPG has been largely replaced by the MMORPGs which is 1. A bad thing because it means less developers make CRPGs 2. A good thing because it forces the remaining developers to go beyond simple hack and slash games and implement more of the elements that a MMO can never truly have: story and characters. Game industry pundits claim the MMOs have reached their peak and will decline over the next few years.

This is only alightly riot-related but Ive always wondered why people always stick like flies to accidents/crimescenes in the third world. Whenever you see a bombed car or helicopter wreck, the crowds are always friggin standing and jumping on it.
