I think Myers-Briggs tests and personality type tests in general is the Phrenology of our times. We know its gone over the line when people are taking it seriously enough to force employees and similar to take them

You thought A Halfdragon mindflayer was bad?

The sad thing is that everyone in the group is between 20-24 and I like to consider myself a 'serious' roleplayer. The thought of "joining in" had actually ocurred to me, but I havent found a concept outrageous enough yet. Or wait! How about Id play a daemon lord of one of the 9 hells of Bator?! ) -

You thought A Halfdragon mindflayer was bad?
Kaftan Barlast replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
Well, the problem is that Im the only one who thinks this is out of line and Im not the GM So all I can do is sit quietly by as the others do their stuff. And to add insult to injury, the dragons human form is a 10yearold girl but that in no way stops her from taking the lead while talking to NPC's or doing other things that isnt possible to do for a little girl like attending the Duke's ball or purchase weapons. -
There used to be toys in the Tom&jerry cracker boxes when I was a kid but theyd be in the bottom and outside the platic bag that helt the crackers in the box.

Yes, but they seem to have successfully neutralised it with "house rules" " -

I was quite surprised to say the least.. but in their defense, it hasnt really been noticeable yet but I think that will change once when we do some combat at which point my character will just quietly stand by and watch the others tear the enemy to pieces. I think their characters pretty much crashed the CR system so I dont how that will work out at all. and since the dragon is the GMs girlfriend, shes is probably going to get away without any consequences -
The group I play D&D with wanted to start a new game with one for the player(that has never GMd before) as new GM, one that would be less focused on combat and more of a talkie. So I created a human nobleman of sort, I felt that I might have overdone it by chosing the swashbuckler class since its so focused on combat. But I was soon to discover what characters the other players had done.. Char1 had white hair and was rather pale, I thought nothing of it. The other player was being secretive so I knew she was up to something but she always is so I didnt think much of that either. So we began to play and lo abd behold.. Char1 didnt just have a problem with his complexion, he was somekind of friggin celestial/elemental/whatever!! But what comes next is just too much CHar2 was a dragon... thats right A FRIGGIN DRAGON!!! ..not a half-dragon, nooo.. Im talking the REAL DEAL here but in convenient human disguise. I didnt think she was serious at first but she was. So there I am, a regular John Smith with a celestial on my left and a dragon on my right.. ...and this was supposed to be a low-key, non-combat campaign "

A grand discussion of RPG rule systems
Kaftan Barlast replied to Authority's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
Its a modern system so it focuses primarily on gunfire, no swords or axes yet. And it asumes everyone is human. And its also not public domain, thats why I wont tell you exactly how it works even though Swedish copyright laws will protect it. The key feature is that its very very quick, its percentage based d100 so youre able to get all the random figures you need from just two rolls in combat. The tricky parts like damage and 'armour' are already laid out in tables that are very simple to use. The second roll determines the nature of the damage, you just look at the table and see f.ex "incapacitated- target is effectively neutralized and will require intensive medical care in 30min not to die" or "class 2 body armour will stop any bullet from a 9mm or less aimed at the chest and stomach" (its doesnt come with a 100page booklet with just tables though like certain 80s games " ) It can also be simplified if youre doing massive combat, then its like an enemy will always be incap. if you roll X or more on the damage die and so on. Ive played both Eon and Neotech but they have nothing in common with this system. Oh, except that a gun does damage depending on the ammo used and not the gun itself, but that idea is very old.. I know I fist saw it in Wastelands(lancelot games) in the 80s -

A grand discussion of RPG rule systems
Kaftan Barlast replied to Authority's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
The death of a PC should be avoided unless it is a grand and fitting death that the player can feel comfortable with as an end to a character. Being shot to death by Kobolds in a random encounter does not qualify Im developing a RPG rules system and Im laborating with the idea of having a highly realistic damage system without the abstraction of a HP system. When a someone is hit/shot/exposed to gas/stabbed etc. they simply roll a dice to determine the extent of the injury. the scale goes all the way up to major organ damage, such a damage in the head hitbox will result in instantaneous death. The only ways to avoid being hit are the ones in IRL, to avoid combat alltogether, to take cover or to wear a vest. Moving targets are also more difficult to hit. But, it is fully possible for a character to catch a bullet to the head and die on the spot in the first round of combat. Im thinking of changing how this works for PCs since such a turn of events would be detrimental to the players enjoyment of the game. Perhaps the system is more suited to a tabletop tactical game with miniatures? -
I like the second girl's favorite quote. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The first one was pure hardcore Ilse-She wolf of the SS "Pain is weakness leaving the body"

BREAKING NEWS: Earlier today, Vice President Cheney issued a statement, that can be seen as a fair and effective compromise between human rights and the need to fight potential terrorism with whatever means necessary. $60(the price of the 36o version) for a 6 hour game? Unless it has an advancd mutiplayer or extreme replayability, that is a complete ripoff.

I watch certain parts of EpIII for the grand comedy that they are, my fav is Samuel Jackson after the first battle "General Grievous will always run..." and then he sneakily adds "he's a coward" its so bad.. and I also like the perplexing "The jedi council turned on me, dont you turn on me" and the "..too" never comes! ...Palps also provide some comedy moments but I cant remeber anything else but his overacting voice
