Yes, Im attending a flashy Game Design program at University but as I do only Design/Graphics I dont have access to the programming classes and even if I did they would be much too high-level for me. So Im looking for a website that can teach a complete n00b how to program C++ I have never done any programming before but I really want to learn.

Im going to quote my good friend Adrian here with the wisdom he spurted forth one day: "Just because god looks like a pancake it doesnt mean you have to eat him" and this post isnt spam. -
You thought A Halfdragon mindflayer was bad?
Kaftan Barlast replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
Actually, the dragon/elemental campaign isnt much fun at all really. Sometimes it feels like a pure waste of time. -

Most difficult game you have ever played
Kaftan Barlast replied to kumquatq3's topic in Computer and Console
I never had much luck with platform games for my old NES, there were quite a few that I only suceeded in reaching the second level. "Bart SImpson vs. the space mutants" especially comes to mind. I dont think I ever made it past the first level -
Im still playing The Longest Journey its damn good, the mood and story are both excellent.

Brian D. Lawson interview about NWN 2 and stuff
Kaftan Barlast replied to kirottu's topic in Computer and Console
I prefer the term party members because that is what they are. They are computer simulations of what would be your friends characters in a regular PnP game. -
What usually bothers me about comics isnt usually the pencils but the colouring. Not even mentioning the horrors of the past(which makes Watchmen and V for Vendetta hard to read) we often see good or atleast adequate pencilwork completely ruined by some hack with a cheap tablet and Photoshop. Look at this frame from "Lady Death" The colourist has completely mashed Lady D's face with some really stinky colouring. This is exceptionally bad. Kevin O'Neil. And I like it, its very appropriate for the comic.

I hope they have something of KoTOR party system so that youll have access to other party members if you want without having to walk all the way to Village X to fetch them or worse, lose them for the rest of the game if you dont take them in your party a la Baldurs Gate. The reason why K2s ending failed was that it was anticlimactic. It failed to deliver that which it had built you up to believe it would. Instead you killed Kreiah, saw a 2s cutscene of the Ebon hawk leaving and that was it. Id rather see them do a non-fantasy IP but if theyre going SW again, thats the way to do it. -
Why? WHY KAFTAN WHY!? :D Enough was enough when this abomination saw the light of day: The "Vampirella vs. Shi" manga issue where someone thought it was a great idea to put manga-styled heads upon our western heroines, turning the whole issue into some kind of pseudo-pedophilistic travesty of all that is good and true " This is what youd expect a Vampirella/Shi crossover to look like: p.s : yes I know that Shi is about ninjas and stuff and is very japanophilistic but its still a western comic that in no way benefits from being horrendously butchered like that.

I like to read artsy comics that arent really comics but rather graphic novels or illustrated books. Sweden also has a very strong underground of really bizarre and fun art comics that isnt quite like anything else youll find on earth. Favorite Writer: Alan Moore Favorite Artist: Dave McKean Current Favorite Book: Alan Moore's & Eddie Campbell's From Hell But I did read most of the Ultimate X-men and found it very enjoyable. Marvel comics became unreadable in the mid-90s when they not only switched to a childish asian-inspired style but also spread out storyline over several titles, forcing you to buy 5-6 magazines every month to keep up. Oh, and Ill have to say. Manga/anime is the worst thing to happen to comics since the "comics code"

Brian D. Lawson interview about NWN 2 and stuff
Kaftan Barlast replied to kirottu's topic in Computer and Console
Yeah, the problem with the games we will be doing at Uni is that we dont have enough time for the actual story and character design. Its basicly 95% tech and 5% story because there simply isnt enough time for anything else. Doing a story with the NWN2 toolset would allow me to concetrate on the story and characters. Of course, Id need to send a copy of NWN2 to go with my portfolio so potential employers could play it (if that is legal) -

If you want to save creativity in games, start a publishing company that doesnt pressure Developers into making tried&tested recipies inside tried&tested franchises on too short a timeframe. -
How would you "prove" Intelligent Design ?
Kaftan Barlast replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Way Off-Topic
It is specific to Christianity in that it is a not very cleverly hidden attempt by fundamentalist Christians to force the teaching of children that the world and everything in it was created by a higher, intelligent power(god). And there is no empirical evidence whatsoever. Just rethorics. -

Oh, you programmers and your code. I consider myself most fortunate to have bagged the position of lead artist for our first real game project. And thus I grip my wacom pen firmly and rejoice. -
Yes, I feel this sheds new light on things as Petterson shot palme BEFORE the re-editing of the scene with Han and Greedo but AFTER the original film premiered in 1977. see?

Doesnt HotU always end with that cutscene where the scholar or whomever it was reads some gaga that changes minutely depending on your alignment?
-
In the documentary they say they just re-edited it to make the two shots come closer of eachother since Lucas thought it looked lame that Greedo shot so much later than Han Solo. And when I saw the re.hashed version it still looked like Han fired first.
