  1. I would agree to that. Also, get the old D100 edition instead of the new d20 rules which are basicly D&D 3.5 in a different package BAD d20 VERSION CALL OF CHULHU. DO NOT BUY THIS.
  2. Its a matter of designing an adventure that is not based on conflict, or a conflict that cannot be resolved through violent means. This usually means mystery, intrigue and politics. The characters progress through the story by talking to NPCs or searching locations for clues. You could compare this type of campaign to an adventure game like The Longest Journey where a normal campaign would be like Baldurs Gate The key is to have a story that is so strong and contains so many twists and turns that the characters wont be bored due to lack of combat. If your story is too simple, the characters will either rush through it or you will be forced to stretch it out, creating moments of dead time that will bore your players.
  3. I dont have any expectations, Ive seen nothing on the game that would suggest its worth playing.
  4. Why was it that Troika went down really? I only remeber hearing that their publisher, activision I think, withdrew all funding and all money from the sales of Bloodlines.
  5. You dont switch between the pen/stylus and the mouse. The pen works just like a mouse, you move it over the tablet to the thing you like to click on and then you either touch the tablet with the tip of your pen or use the buttons on the pen to click. The tablet is mapped 1:1 over the screen so if you put the pen in the topleft corner of the tablet, the cursor will be at the topleft of the screen. Also many Wacom models have programmable hotkeys on the tablet so you wony need anything but the tablet and pen to control what you do. I use these hotkeys to change brush size, zoom in/out, move the canvas around, sample colour and toggle fullscreen mode
  6. They achieve it by using a good ainting program that can emulate traditional media like acrylic, gouache, oil and so on. I use Corel PainterIX and it does this extremely well. It requires a bit of getting used to how the brushes work but you can do paintings which are indistinguishable from real paintings. The differance between a brush and a tablet is huge. I use a Wacom Intuos3 A4 (previously I used a Graphire A6) with a sheet of paper taped over the tablet for extra friction. It feels like using an ordinary lead pencil on paper. However, as the brain learns to disregard the fact that youre not drawing where the picture appears, you look only at what happens on the monitor and your hand moves on auto. Youre no longer aware of what happens down there as your hand scribbles on the tablet. At that stage, it doesnt matter that it feels like youre using a pencil while painting oil on the screen because youre completely focused on the screen. I think the brain making this connection where the hand moves on auto helps a lot when drawing normally too because your eye-to-brain-to-hand coordination improves significantly
  7. Since Mr Weiser seems to be sceptic I can say that digital painting is just another medium, it doesnt replace traditional means. Therefore you shouldnt be reluctant to try it out because youre feeling conservative. Apart from all the nice brushes etc. just take the ability to move thing around on the canvas. If im painting a scene and I dont like the composition, I can just move the parts around. And if I run out of canvas I can just make it bigger in an instant. I should get provision from both Wacom and Corel based on the amount of people Ive made go digital. All you need is a good tablet and PainterIX and someone to show you all the amazing things you can do and youre sold. The problem is that you cant produce and sell fine art because you have no original material canvas. You can send it to print, sign and number the copies and then permanently delete the sourcefile but that will still reduce the value of your work significantly compared to if you use real paint on a real canvas.
  8. Working digitally is great but it does spoil you a great deal so that you will have a hard time going back to traditional media. Simply put, you dont have the option to undo, save or use layers in reality. But painting digitally also makes you evovle faster since you can experiment relentlessly without spending several hundred
  9. Ive been working on my damage/health system lately and I came to the conclusion that a level-based health system(like in WW's VtM) was not right for this game as it oversimplified things and also took away alot of the fun about combat. So now Ive come up a hybrid system ) you now have HP like every other RPG but they are divided into intervals who decide what the consequence of that damage is, just like a level-based health system would. You also dont scratch HP but write up the damage recieved, this makes it simpler to handle.
  10. I wanted him to atleast have something to be happy about.
  11. "Anxiety" This is a doodle I drew when I was bored on a post-it note and then I had a friend scan it because it looked so gross. I think its me expressing the terror of having to present our game on friday when its barely an Alpha (whish isnt my fault, its just that half the team didnt do ****)
  12. AUTOMATIC KAFKA Its among the coolest mainstream comics Ive read. The art is just amazing (very artsy). It does not have anything to do with Franz Kafka though.
  13. It could also be a "unified front" policy on behalf of WotC. This means OE has to agree to state in all public media that their collaboration has been smoothgoing and pleasant. Im not joking, these types of agreements exist and are frequently used.
  14. A creature constructed through mechanical/magic ways. In short, a Golem.
  15. I agree that 3Dmark and any such program are a waste of time because they do not measure performance in a game enviroment. Your systems performance with the latest games is what matters.
  16. There, there Mr Hades. This is essential mathematics for anyone looking to design RPG rule systems. Gaussian, what you get if you roll many dice. like GURPS that uses 3d6 Uniform, like Call of Cthulhu that uses a signle die d100 or D&D's d20
  17. All I have to say it must be a 3rd ed thing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Its all built around boosting a spell some way at the cost of it taking a spell slot 1-4 levels higher than normal. For instance a maximised(does maximum damage for your level) fireball takes a lvl6 slot instead of a lvl3 slot. a maximized+empowered fireball would do max damage+another 50% of damage and take a lvl 8 spell slot. Its really nasty.
  18. Because being able to lob 2 spells the same round is useless if there are no rounds. But I suppose they could make it into some kind of turbo feature that enabled you to pop off a second spell right after the first instead of having to wait a second. How is it that NWNs combat system works again? It has some kind of pseudo round/phase thingie doesnt it?
  19. I wonder if the enemy will use nasty metamagic feats like Maximise? and.. I was about to say quicken but thats useless in relatime.
  20. Familiars are useless. Their only function seems to consist of dying horribly when their owner is hit by an area spell.
  21. The differance is that a keyword like PORK SODA Doesnt let you express you character. Prewritten dialouge like -Hey @sshole! Are you the dirty bastard who stole my pork soda? -Pardon me, sir. Have you seen a can of pork soda around here? -Hiya! Im on the prowl for pork soda... so have you seen any? Does allow you expression, its limited of course, but it still allows you to express the personality of your character which is the most essential part of roleplaying.
  22. Roleplaying requires dialouge. You need to be able to express your character in different ways through dialouge choices to simulate you speaking as your character in PnP. Morrowinds "keyword" wikisystem made that impossible
  23. Alam Moore's Promethea (comic books are also books)
  24. Mums got an AMD64 X2 4000+ with a Geforce 6600, Ive got a regular single core AMD643200+ with a Gf6800u. She gets 20fps at FEAR, I get 40. processors doesnt matter.
  25. No, it isnt. "
