  1. This has become cliche. They can have a couple of people at E3 and the rest of the team working back in the studio. A couple of days of absense of a couple of people of the team won't change anything for the production.
  2. There's a difference between "asking" and "demanding" OP. And after all, you already have your answer by Obsidian. Demanding it again makes you look like a....... ?
  3. The only historical situation I know of using harpoons in battle was the Roman pilum. It was not a harpoon harpoon but it worked like one. It was more of a javelin type. You throw it towards your opponent, your opponent blocks it with their shield, the pilum sticks in the shield (because it was designed that way) and renders it useless (oponent has to toss their shield). This could be a cool way to use javelins in Pillars, although it will wear off soon. Now if you use a harpoon as a spear or something, you risk losing the weapon because it'll grip in the opponents whatever part. It's not a good idea. The only way I can see it happening is by specific opponents, such as ogres, shooting harpoons with huge crossbows or something, hiting you and pulling you towards them. Neat. Of course this is a fantasy setting and they could just make a unique spear shaped as harpoon, name it "Harpoon of the Deep Ocean" and just pretend it is a normal spear; harpoon shape is for the shows and the marine theme.
  4. I'll just jump in to give my opinion about the (huge) difference between spears and harpoons because it is such an important subject. I must say, harpoons and spears are two completely different things. The harpoon is a harpoon wheres the spear is a spear. You can't use the one as the other. It's like comparing a knife to a cleaver. I mean come on the one is one thing the other is another. They are just not the same if you know what I mean. And I mean it, mind you. Just to be clear. Bottom line, harpoon is a spear, spear is a harpoon. Ok? Don't mix them up.
  5. Whatever the case was in real world, I doubt anyone would want everything in the game as makeshift weapons or armour (pots, brooms, plates, buckets, planks etc). The game works with loot, it's not free for all.
  6. A ship wheel for a shield wouldn't be of much good cosidering how many and how large open spaces it has But I'm in for some crazy marine-themed gear. Like a giant clam shell for a shield or ogres weilding anchors on chains as flails :D
  7. Come on man, Larder Door was a "lol wtf" moment in Pillars, gotta admit it You don't rip your door and go to battle using it as a shield because you don't have one. You can't even lift and move it around - it's huge :D It never was a viable solution to those who had no shields handy ever in history
  8. OP, what will change for you if you learn now the release date of a game planned for realease next year? They said Q1 2018, experience says Q2 '18 at least. I'm sure they're not sure either. Wanna plan something around it? Something that important that can be cancelled by the release of a video game?
  9. Yeah. I know Peshmerga is the name of the Iraqi Kurdish forces. That's why it's so weird to see someone has a name in Kurdish in that fantasy game :D https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peshmerga
  10. Lol seriously they had a companion named Pesmerga? :D Those Japanese games are really random with their names :D
  11. This would be cool, although a better UI is needed for this. I ended up never using item abilities in WM because of that.
  12. He's quite a figure in the window-making business. In fact, the window-making business took it's name by him. Fact. Look it up.
  13. She looks good. My only gripe she's quite "yellowish" and the over exaggerated bloom is not up to my tastes Your tastes include Aumauas but exclude yellow skin?
  14. lol like how strong? :D A cannon needs at least two to operate and drag it, let alone lift it. They could use more gun option, though it'll require them to derrail from the real life historical weaponry and make some fantasy ones; which is ok by me
  15. Ha! It's also Phoenix Point. Equally excited myself
  16. There could be mounted opponents that count as a single unit. That'll be cool but won't be "mounted combat". And it doesen't have to imo.
  17. Fantasy games are all about the variety. Mounted combat would add new tactics, new weapons, and new combinations of opponents. That would have been exciting in an action game. Now it's an auto-combat game. Being on a mount will give you + defense, + offence, maybe restrict you from some weapon, give you a couple extra, restrict you from using some abilities give you a few other abilities... ok doesen't sound that exciting to me. Like you could use a modal ability or something.
  18. Well, I don't know if you're serious or not but he had the biggest writing role in PoE1. If you or anyone else hadn't heard of him its probably partly cos of Obs used more well known devs on marketing/panels etc despite they may have had lesser roles in the development of PoE. Okay, he's a writer. I'm still not clear why all the excitement. Many consider him a very good game writer; he was writing lead in Pillars 1 and also contributed in previous Obsidian games. That's it.
  19. Mounted combat in an isometric auto-attack game will change nothing imo.
  20. They even look better than Mass Effect Andromeda aaaaahahahahahahahaaaaa...ha...he... pfew...
  21. New character models are great. We've seen them; no need to wonder.
  22. No matter what, you should definitely do it. And you should have Hiravias with you. It's no great thing, but it's old school fun. Now you intrigued me to reload and take Hiravias with me when to Zahua's quest Damn!
  23. No Obsidian participation in E3 as I can see. Neither Paradox. https://www.e3expo.com/
  24. I think non-AAA games appeal to people who spend more time in searching for games, learn about them, want the experience only this medium can provide where blockbusters appeal to those who don't care much, just want to have somw fun with a game this week and look up the new arrivals, their covers and maybe some trailers. Just like blockbuster movies or books. That said, I think lower budget games have a large enough audience and can make money for their publishers because of their relatively low cost.
