  1. The word "I".. With 6 party characters.. you CAN go with 5 man party. With 5 you CANT go with 6 for people who want it. The classic argument that ignores that a game is designed around its party cap. If the game had 6 paty members and you went with 5 you raise the difficulty level, when you might not want to.
  2. Xoti carrying the lantern reminded of the Warhammer Quest board game, were the party leader (default the Barbarian) was carrying a similar lantern to indicate his position in the party :D
  3. Pallegina is plain bad imo. Eder looks way older in his new portrait. Aloth... eh ok. New companions all look good. Serafen's portrait has a Baldur's Gate feeling/style. Again, I prefere shots of the 3D model's face for portraits instead of drawn ones (saves time and money too), especially now that the graphics are awsome and much more detailed.
  4. You know there's no limit to what you can do with that gif
  5. But... what is music? Why is Pillars soundtrack even written in archaic tonal system? What year is it, 1817? If Justin Bell won't expand his musical language with some microtones I will demand a refund! Such a sellout. You completely dropped the ball. You should have said, "But.... what is love!? Baby don't hurt me! Baby don't hurt me. no more!" Let's turn this thread into a 90's eurodance one! I'm dead serious!
  6. I'm tossing the glove of challenge to Obsidian: make a unique music piece for each combat encounter in the game. And make it memorable enough, so when we are at the final battle, we still remeber the song played when we were fighting rats in the basement when we were level 1.
  7. Having fun with natives of the English language finding unpronouncable the names in Pillars and real world locations
  8. What I really hope the case with Neketaka's gonna be is that the city is part of the game from the time you get to Deadfire to the very end. A place where you come and go, things happen over time and they are consistent to the end. THE central settlement of the game. In Pillars (the poor designed) Defiance Bay was only part of the middle game and not with a strong enough presence either.
  9. Looked like they were just showing how it works, and she wasn't even in sneak mode. Plus, if she had moved to one corner, she'd be outside the hearing range. Oh... kay? They didn't show us much, but I am very much unconvinced by the very existence of shoplifting. Ye i think it seems like it could be fun but the extreme version of this was DOS for me where you can jack everything which was dumb. I felt like it ruined the economy and forced you into stealing even if you didnt want to roleplay a character like that so you could buy stuff. It seemed like the devs had to make everything really expensive in DOS to account for players that wanted to steal everything. Then if a player didnt want to steal stuff you were stuck not being able to make money to buy things. So as long as its doesnt seem necessary it could be fun. I'm assuming DOS means Divinity Original Sin. And yes, that's what the problem usually is. If shoplifting works, it can break the economy. If it doesn't, well, what's even the point? I will hold out hope they'll find a way to make it work. And that refraining from it won't punish us. Fakk the economy! Let's have fun! In all seriousness, if shops have good enough items but not the best items I don't think it's gonna mess things much.
  10. https://www.fig.co/campaigns/deadfire?update=436#updates Let's discuss here. City looks ultragreat the least.
  11. I'd like a shark for ranger companion. Dragging him in a huge tank filled with sea water and tossing him to my enemies; quickly puting him back after combat.
  12. Devs have intentionally not published a world map of the game. It leaves them room to do whatever they want in the future, they say. I myself would love to see an official detailed world map though
  13. I'm given the idea by some people that they want/expect/think this game's gonna be a new Pirates game. This is Pillars 2, though, the sequel to a fantasy party-based rpg, inspired by the IE games of the past. Just so we're all on the same page when discussing the game
  14. Deadfire's combat speed would be in the pace of Pillars' 1 slow, so slow mode will be even slower. I never used slow myself; just pause.
  15. Well, no new player Godlikes (as we know from day 1), but there is a water godlike companion.
  16. That's cool. I always really liked Norse mythology. I often don't enjoy how it's done in games though. Age of Mythology set too high of a standard I think. By combining Atlanteans, Greeks, Egyptians and Norse people?
  17. Not sure. First time I came across a dragon taking human form was in the original Dragonlance novels. It made sense there, 'cause dragons wanted to mess with human politics incognito. It might be rooted to some mythology though. I wouldn't be surprised. It was also present in Sapkowski's Witcher novels, where we met golden dragon in human form of noble man. (sorry for doubleposting, I screwed multiquoting somehow :/ ) After Dragonlance, dragons in human form were common. But it is an interesting question who made it a thing.
  18. Maybe there's a rumor about a super powerful and legendary dragon hiding somewhere, protecting something. You only learn it by rumors and you have to go way off the beaten path to find him. Then, when you do find him, it is just a guy named Dragon, Jonathan Dragon, say. You ask him to give you what he hides, he declines and you're having a fight over it. Or you sail towards somewhere and a scripted interaction pops-up. "In the distance, you see two dragons fighting. They're too far away and you're sailing away from them anyway. Soon, they just become two dots on the horizon. You continue your way". There you have your two dragon fights.
  19. Well, they have to lure you somehow to back them early on when their campaign is running, hence the lower prices for backers.
  20. Not sure. First time I came across a dragon taking human form was in the original Dragonlance novels. It made sense there, 'cause dragons wanted to mess with human politics incognito. It might be rooted to some mythology though. I wouldn't be surprised.
  21. I don't care much about killing them. Just encountering them. It could be interesting if we could ally with them, befriend them, decieve them, intimidate them, mess with their agenda etc. Just let them be some super powerful character without having to just kill them or walk away and never do anything else with them.
  22. Oh, dragons are confirmde since FIG campaing, just don't suspect to be lots of them. Nah I wouldn't expect more than a couple anyway. It doesen't have to be dragons all the time anyway. Can always be other big powerful interesting monsters, right?
  23. If you invited 5 friends to your house, would you call that a party? A deep philosophical question.
  24. I think dragon's are semi-confirmed. Hinted in last Q&A.
