  1. I don't think the shipping costs will be lowered. Where's the dislike this button when you need one...
  2. This partnership actually puts Obsidian in a better position to create more Eternity content (DLC/Sequels). That's excellent. Just for the sake of PoE sequel(s) (but not only) I hope the future's so bright, you all have to wear shades.
  3. The key to turning into an undead is to have a soul bound to a body. Paying someone to do it is only one way that this can happen. After all, the answer is in the premise already. If one can do it for the payment, why not do it for his own agenda and en masse. And we don't even know if that's the only way a soul can be bound to a body. EDIT: The last part has been explicitly answered in AMA. Having an animancer to bind your own spirit to your body is only one way that a soul can be bound to a body. EDIT2: May as well provide the link.
  4. Mr. Fenstermaker needs to write more updates :D From now on I'm going to write to his work email account every day, imploring or, if need be, threatening him to do so.
  5. I don't think that word means what you think it means. Also, if you have nothing better to write than a worthless personal attack, it's better to just write nothing.
  6. Look at the video with the 5 maps... they are. No need. I can just look at what Mr. Sawyer has written. Just. In. This. Thread. I'm sure modders will be able to figure it out themselves when they get their hands on the files... at least as far as the maps are concerned. And I'm sure that modders would much rather have at least a few guidelines written out from a reliable source, despite a random person on the internet feeling sure, that some bright bulb somewhere, someday will figure out some hopefully good approximation.
  7. They do not. Just look at the dynamic lighting. And I'd bet that modders would much rather have at least a few guidelines written out from a reliable source, than what a random person on the internet feels confident enough to even figuratively bet on it.
  8. We're still working on implementing the ability to upgrade orders through the Backer Portal. Glad to hear it! I was frantically looking for this option just a few weeks back when the spending mood's hit me.
  9. See, the first sentence is true, but the second is false, and the justification provided for the second being true is the same justification that makes the first sentence true. Developing characters down realms of emotion and interaction that do not include romance does not, in any way, guarantee or even suggest that the realms of emotion and interaction that are used will be new, even within the context of the IE games. The second statement is my prediction and also a speculation. That's why I've used most and possibly and not guarantee, like you have. Without a direct quote from the devs it can not be proven to be true, nor can it be proven to be false. Ever. Making an accurate statement for the future was not its purpose. Its purpose was to show a possibility. So including the word possibly felt like an appropriate choice. As for the justification: My justification for making this statement is, that since writers will be spending time writing characters they will now have to spend more time writing about other parts of characters, not romances. The reason why romances will not be included may also apply to other parts of the spectrum. This would further make the proportion of "unexplored" areas towards "explored" in favor of the former. And that's my justification for my prediction.
  10. I skipped quoting the rest of the post, because I either agree with it, or understand it and think that it makes a fair point. The last paragraph irks me, though. Removing a part of the spectrum limits the possibilities of options, not number of options. The number of options is limited only by the budget they have for writing characters (this holds true until we reach a great enough budget to have the possibility of covering all the spectrum of choices). And this is the main point. They obviously feel like they'd rather spend their budget on exploring other parts of the character interaction spectrum, than exploring the one that has been done over and over and over again just to make it (hopefully) less cheesy. Not writing romances absolutely does not men, that there will be quantitatively less character interaction options. It means, that most possibly, there will be options we haven't seen before. Also, as one should not confuse bad writing with "romances are bad" (I agree completely), one should also not confuse romance haters, bad romance haters and romance idontgivea****ters.
  11. QFT It's pretty obvious, that Obsidian wants to make this game as good as they can. That is not the same as saying that they want to make it as appealing to everyone as they can. If they feel like cramming in romances just to say "we have them" is like adding barbecue sauce to a cake, then good riddance to romances.
  12. And here's a sort of an answer to my question about backstabbing. It seems like I say this every time, but I really like the environment. It looks like there's a bug in this one, though. There's a solitary floating rock in the center of the left edge of the screenshot - just left of the circular building.
  13. I don't have many personal requirements/expectations for the stealth systems, but one of them always is: Will a stealthy character be able to sneak into melee range and make a surprise/sneak attack against an enemy? Considering how the circles mechanics has been described, I'm not sure this is possible anymore. If it isn't, what is the reason behind removing this combat feature? EDIT: I haven't read the whole thread, so this has most likely been answered before.
  14. Here's the interview: http://www.gamebanshee.com/interviews/112825-pillars-of-eternity-interview/page-5.html Here's the quote: Josh: [...] The Endless Paths can be found relatively early in the but the player only has to dip his or her toes into the dungeon on the critical path. [...]
  15. I think it was in the Gamebanshee interview, that Sawyer said, that the main quest line will "only make you dip a toe" into the megadungeon. Therefore I don't expect one will be forced to explore even the dragon's eye amount of levels to finish the game. I, personally, will leave no stone unturned int here, but to each their own. Unfortunately, the link to their interview seems to be broken after their site upgrade, so I can not present my source.
  16. Oh, look, it's UI again. And still some people think, that in a game where core mechanics is the ability to pause at will, having functionality hidden away to gain 5% more background visibility (no matter how fractured it is) is better than using that space to have game interaction commands readily available and easy to discern. Also, apparently making UI look pretty serves no purpose at all. I've heard it here first.
  17. One could say it has been considered, but only in a sense, that it has been said that it will not be made for consoles. BTW: How do you know it's easy to port to? Time to buy pop corn :D Make it more accessible - I agree. Widen the audience - I'm not buying it. Call me narrow minded/cynic, but I just don't think that gamers playing exclusively on a TV gadget are interested in isometric, text heavy and long games.
