  1. You should also be able to pay for those services(if you lack the skills). Another thing you should be able to do is combine items. Anyone familiar with the FFIX synthesis shops ? You could combine what were useless items (since you had already found better) into something that you could use again. This had two real consequences. Selling stuff became a risk since you couldnt be sure if you would need something very basic (that was no longer old) in order to create a powerful synthesis. It was always a good idea to buy some extras just in case a recipe required more than one of a particular item.
  2. I don't see the point. Although I dont see the point in RPG remakes in general either. The only exception would be FFV which is a game that I enjoy messing around with the system rather than the story. But if you remake a game with a same story, then there are no suprises and if you change the story too much, then it's no longer the same game. If you do then on another platform, thats a different matter I guess but then in the case of the FF remakes for the GBA/DS they havnt changed greatly (even in the graphics) from the original.
  3. I don't think I've ever seen a TV show completely. V was pretty good that one I did see since it wasnt that long. Angel I liked (see astr0creps post for bonus reasons) Buffy some were good some not so good.
  4. I want to see them do a revolution game. They are a twisted lot I bet they would come up with some good ideas for the controller. Dosnt sound like crossovers are on the cards either.
  5. An elemental Druid is a very distinct character. Well you would be wrong. I'm fine with choices, but If I replay games I like to be able to do it in a different way. Example Wolf/Bear/Elemental Druid. What I dont like to do is purposely pick things which are useless to the character for no reason. You dont purposely learn useless skills in real life, so why would an RPG character ? To do that bothers my roleplaying sensibilities as much as powergaming does. Fine making the force powers more useful and or varied works too. I'm not particularly bothered which direction a solution comes from.
  6. So ? Are you really that bothered what I do and dont buy?
  7. I'm not the one still duitifully patching and defending the practice.. Really ? Have I said they all need patches ? Do you credit people with so little intelligence that they can't work out that all my comments are , are a snapshot of my experiences and are not a universal truth ? What false claims ? That console software is less buggy ? I dont rent things I intend to buy. Renting isnt a test to see if I like a game, its just like a movie rental something I'm likely to only watch one. Three out of how many recent ones ? No I dont know how common these crashes were. The message boards never paint a less than grim picture. Do I know that such a crash would have put me in a very bad mood ? Yes.
  8. I never said they were unplayable. I said I'm through taking the risk that something goes wrong as I'm playing them. Big difference there.
  9. It's different when you add a competative element. It's also a balance between the difficulty level of the game and the usefulness of the skills. No question that certain builds are more effective , but then you can say the same about any RPG since that is what powergaming is about. I did for example play an Elemental Druid. I also played a Werewolf Druid and a Bear Druid. Likewise I played a poison based Necro and a summoning based Necro. Would they be considered competative on battlenet ? Highly unlikely could they survive HC hell level ? Again highly unlikely, but that can be said for many builds too. Diablo II covers many different play elements I expect where the game focused around HC play only then you would see more differences. The key factor with HC play being you cant really afford to die. If you were to take KOTOR online, then thats exactly what you would get every character a carbon copy of each other anyway.
  10. I dont think Fallouts aged particularly well, although at the time it was definately SPECIAL :D
  11. Light , although I will tend to react to a situation rather than just pick a side. The being nasty to my companions is the bit I most dislike about the darkside.
  12. I think it probably will failing any catastrophic buggyness. It's fallout Jim but not as we know it :D
  13. Well Black is awsomely fantastic If your the completist type there are unlockables to boost the play time. Only one tiny critism which is although you can decrease the difficulty between levels (great idea that) you cant increase it which is something I'd like to do , although I may just start over. I also thought the weapons were pretty innefective, till I came across the fire select switch
  14. Shouldnt even need to if you frequent this board. Since quite a lot of recent PC RPGs have been from Trioka it should be common sense. Ok minor fixes? This is a piece of the Civ IV patch list. Now I do this not because I'm picking on the PC , but because you insist that patches only fix minor things.See how many times the word crash appears there? Fixes: - ATI issue Failed to Init Renderer Fixed - Multiplayer Lobby list jump problem and lobby crash fixed - fixed war weariness calculation bug... - units maintain their name when upgraded - fixed Gold-for-Gold diplo exploit... - fixed no research choice overflow exploit... - Fix for voice initialization crash - Fix addressing takeover AI and retirement OOS. - Fixed issue with diplomacy text being always used in its first form in the translator. - Popups, screens, and diplomacy properly cleared when exiting from main menu. - Games protected by admin passwords (only) cannot be loaded if the version is different from the one that created the save - Fixed bug where player could not offer any deal to other human in PBEM/Hotseat - Sorting by date on domestic advisor now works. - fixed bug where settlers could not move if the strategy layer was selected - fixed Ironworks... - fixed AI units not obeying open borders rules on declaration of war... - fixed bug that prevent placing of units in world-builder - fixed bug that prevented gifting of units to a human player - stack attack infinite loop fixed - Civic screen update fix (wasn
  15. Sony wouldnt lose $800 they would lose $800- the retail cost. Although the $800 is likely not accurate given the components they have used to come up with it (like a read/write blu ray).
  16. Well you know I play mostly RPGs right ? Just look at the record of PC RPG releases when it comes to bugs. Sure they are.. And a patch obviously fixes those things dosnt it. Seriously if that were the case then patches would be a complete waste of time since they would fix nothing. Although aside from the driver thats what causes most console problems ironic, isnt it? You mean the awful in game bugs that patches are released to correct ?
  17. Me people ? I'd prefer Obsidian did it. I'm not a huge fan of Bethesda's games. I do the explore the world thing for the weekend, then realise how pointless it is. They have never had a story that gripped me enough to compell me on. Although I'd still acknowledge they are good at what they have chosen to do , without thumscrews :D
  18. Ughh , your really asking the wrong person here. Morrowind is big I usually liken it to an MMPORG without the other people. I found the controls annoying. But I'd played the PC version so It was a case of having to unlearn stuff. If you havnt I doubt you will have that problem.
  19. I just think he's not being critical enough in comparing the characters. Dawn Star dosnt have a lot in common with Vissas. She's more an Imoen childhood friend type than a slave to the badguy who turns on her former master. Mira and Silk Fox ? They dont have much in common either. If your using things like being the last but one boss as criteria, something pretty iffy.
  20. Depends, I've just rented black now. Not a game I would likely buy but probably more than worth a rental. Rentals are another aspect of console gaming which I find very benificial. When it comes to RPGs though I do pretty much what you say. Scan the list at the start of the month, order anything that pops up on it. Fun is a very difficult concept to pin down. I've definately rented games that havnt been fun but aside from the instances I've mentioned where the faults have sucked the fun out of them. I'd rather play new stuff myself. Trauma Center under the knife , pretty good example of new game. As I already said I'm through playing stuff that has a high chance of having the fun sucked out because of techincal faults. What happens if the game dosnt work anyway ? Wouldnt that prove him or her right under your criteria ?
  21. I think Plano is on the right track. If you look at Diablo, then you could create some very distinct templates from within the same class (same powers list) Even if you look at some of the feats of KOTOR II , they go some way to making the characters more individual.
  22. No... Well maybe KOTORII although I'd want you to be aware it's condition first. Heres a list of the ones I can think of though I'm not recomending them. KOTOR Jade Empire Baldurs Gate:DA (action RPG) Crimson Sea (Action RPG) Morrowind Fable Kingdom Under Fire (this I would recomend though it's RPG in only the losest sense, it's much more an RTS). Lord of the Rings Third Age - Final Fantasy in a LOTR skin although short and no where near as good. Xmen II (action RPG) Arx Fatalis Demon Stone ('noth action RPG) Future Tactics (strategy RPG) Pirates of the Caribbean Bard Tale (action RPG) Gauntlet Seven Sorrows (ditton) Hope that helps.
  23. You most certainly are. You acknwoledge that there are some serious issues, you even criticise me , because I wont wait two weeks to buy things just so a patch is available, like you admit you do for a lot of your purchasing. Oh yes it's my fault that someone can't deliver on a decent product. Like I should have to change my gaming habbits to make up for their ineptness. Really what misinformation ? Well they wouldnt if they read them because that isnt what they say. What they say in a nut shell is console gaming is more hassle free than PC gaming.
  24. Yes ? And I said it does and then gave reasons. Maybe I went overboard on the Mandalorians, but if something was in my way I killed it. I didnt purposefully try to gain experience in any way.
  25. But Sions will keeps him alive where as Deaths hand is kept alive against his will. Both being the last but one boss is kinda thin
