  1. I seriously went off him after EP II-III. Prior to that I saw him as very much the soldier/warrior,not a nice guy by any means but one worthy of respect. Now I see him as a clueless, child killing, whinny cry baby.
  2. I don't think it has anything to do with the backstory. That may well be the reason they were able to become Jedi, but the cloning thing is purely game mechanic related. Few useful force powers plus high levels meant that everyone would invariably overlap in what force powers they had. Heard something a while ago that the D20 SW rules were being ditched anyway (in the PnP sense) not sure if that has any implications on the CRPG front or not.
  3. Maybe, although since KOTOR II already did that more or less it's not that big a deal I think. Theres also that you ended up with a bunch of characters which ended up doing pretty much the same thing. I'd like to see more diversity myself rather than "clones". Well multithreaded adventures have advantages and disadvantages. First being that if you have a lot of NPCs, it means they all get some "screen time". Disadvantage is your often stuck with NPCs your not particularly fond of and may not have built up. Which is what happened to me with Cait Sith in FFVII. Although I think KOTORs autoleveling will mitagate that somewhat anyway. Although your still going to be stuck with an NPC you dont like, at least you wont have to spend time leveling them.
  4. But he wouldnt be able to defeat Darth Vader either. So while Solo is a great character he's just not going to cut it in a Jedi confrontation. This is all the more important if you talking about a time when there are a lot of Jedi around. Although the game mechanics probably dont reflect this since you can shoot Jedi (at least in KOTOR II with the right skills) without killing yourself. The problem here is as was said if you write a story that both a Jedi and a non Jedi can "star" in , then you must write a more open story. KOTOR or KOTOR II's story for example is right out, since both rely on the fact that you are a Jedi to drive it. One of the things KOTOR II captured really well was the movie feeling when the party splits into two groups. In this way it's possible to tell two very different stories which often overlap and intersect, much like they did in the movies where the characters are not often all together in the same scenes.
  5. Some of that may well be true. But since adventure games in that respect have died a death, you can't really blame them for branching out. Thats always going to be an issue when you continue a series. You obviously don't want to make things so playing the original game is requirement or you put off new players. At the same time with the time period between TLJ and today, a lot of players as well as the industry as a whole will have moved on. As I recall the first game wasnt that long either. Although the only point I got stuck on was the soda can/paint shaker thing which seemed a little far fetched. Most of the "time" factor in an adventure game would be thinking about how to progress rather than actual gameplay. I think thats been the case since the Lucas Arts days. Given the penchant for reaching for a walkthrough the second people become stuck these days, you can no longer factor that in I guess.
  6. Waiting for Suikoden Tactics to arrive in the post. Koudelka's on hold because of disc damage (only cost
  7. Sorry don't recognise it.
  8. Huh ? If you didnt get the chip within so many days the game over scene would play. Afterwards you would then get a countdown to the the overun scene as well.
  9. The more freedom you have the shakier the story becomes. Whether thats inevitable. Which in my experiences seems to be the case. Or whether it's just lack of recsources and not having enough to cover all the branches. Even FO which most extole for it's freedom. Well the story wasnt steller and even though you had a lot of freedom you were still always bound to collect the water chip or you would fail and the game would end. All the best stories with the character, story and NPCs slotting into place have been more or less linear affairs (at least until a point) I suppose X-2 could be an exception, but then only if you play it in a linear manner anyway which probably defeats the objective. Hooking a character which has no hook, since hooks impinge on freedom is probably neigh on immpossible. Even Morrowind has it's hook for the character although it's no where near as restrictive as most, its still there. Probably because it has to be. Honestly I think your going to see more character developement as the CRPG continues to grow away from it's PnP roots. And more designer creation and less player imagination.
  10. They used to list the PC specs. They dont appear to anymore. Speaking of Oblivion it's supposed to be out in 29 days http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/produc..._iv_-_oblivion_ Does that zombie look like it's made of plastic or is it just me ?
  11. Wonder what the specs will be for the next gen cross port ? Aside from Oblivion (which wasnt running well at all at the time) I dont think I've seen any of the cross port 360/PC games.
  12. Same problem though who is going to crew your deathstars ?
  13. I think people were still waiting for them in March ?
  14. I'm sure the pieces left after the deathstar fires will take great comfort in that "
  15. The price of 360 stuff ? I think it's quite likely EA is a big player and publish a lot of stuff.
  16. I got KOTORII on the Xbox same missing bits, but it did play through without a hitch. Prices (of games) should drop when the other consoles hit the market later this year. The PS2 retail price was
  17. But the starforge can only create things it has a template for. Dont think you are going to design a droid that could do what Luke did before the deathstar is ready to fire. And if we are not going into what if land, the star forge couldnt create pilots so it's a bit of a sitting duck.
  18. If they are anything like the droids you meet I dont think the death star has a lot to worry about.
  19. Hang on a sec.. The starforge can create material but can it create crew ? Thats the same problem they had in Heir to the Empire as I recall.
  20. Well lets hope your avatar pic is prophetic.
  21. Same distinction.A fighter can drink a potion but he cant make it. A person can operate a techonlogical device without having to know how to make one.
  22. Edgey social commentry
  23. Ouchies. That the bit where you have to climb up the razor wall ? Gold medal for effort above an beyond anyway. And if you havnt already finished it the last battle is great.
  24. Some people are just looking for an excuse. I'm sure there are a lot of people who while not terrorists wouldnt shed many tears. Mothman thats umm.. helpful.
  25. An interesting scenerio in such a case would be if magic was fading from the world. Which would be an absolute disaster. Think I already commented on that.
