  1. It's pretty clear I would have thought. Take it out of the box put it in the machine and play until you finish the game. Hardly. The only way you can do what you say is NOT to buy games until a patch is out which in general is a week to two weeks. Thats what you said right ? Not buying games until you know there is a patch for them ? I'd get some examples but frankly cant be bothered. You want to keep encouraging shoddy software thats your choice. Since it no longer particularly effects me dont much care. Sucks to be me No their loss , they are not getting my money. There are plenty of great games around I'm hardly missing out.
  2. Oh he kills him, but he never beats him. Obi Wan dies because if he didnt then Luke and the others wouldnt escape. Plus he knows how to become a force ghost so he's not so much dying as morphing into something else which can get around a lot easier. Because Obi Wan is there at key points in Lukes story. It's Obi who enables Luke to destroy the Death Star. It's Obi who leads Luke to Han Solo when he's freezing to death.
  3. I think crap is a great definition for something that dosnt work. Really ? Thats news to me I thought you were talking about PC games. Of course if you want to wait a couple of weeks to play them just so you can be sure there is a patch go right ahead. More common than you would like to admit I expect. How would I know if something was cross platform ? Oh I dont know maybe check the supplier list. Well back to Civ. It was quite clear Civ was going to have a lot in common with previous Civs. As I said there are changes, but fundamentally it's not that different. Remember I'm the consumer I have no obligation to buy anything. If they want my money then they had better start making less buggy games which work out of the box like console games do.
  4. Heres why. 1. You may not get a patch. 2. You will probably have to wait for the patch if you buy the game the day of release. 3. You will have to download the patch and likely introduce even more bugs anyway even if the initial ones are fixed. A great game is a great game, but there are not many great games that are. A. Not cross platform. B. Not a rehash of the previous game. Civ was one I was very tempted to get. However once I saw it it was fundamentally like previous Civs. Improved most definately, but the core gameplay was something I've played already so no great loss to me at the end of the day. I'd probably make an exception for NWN II but I'm bored of the whole realms thing. It really depends if it's quiet around the time of release or something.
  5. Between the PS2, GC , Xbox I'm spoiled for choice. I have broadband I just dont have the inclination to knowingly buy rubbish just so I can patch it to make it playable. Wow a dozen games , guess I have more free time  By the latter definition it does since I can real off so many buggy PC games without a thought people have to look up most console game bugs. But you just said there are more buggy games on the PC platform yourself anyway... Dont forget the defintion of crap here which is a game that requires patching in order to be functional. Not a game that someone thinks is bad because they cant stand a particular type of game.
  6. Same here. Although it's an odd stroke since a killing blow is really easy at that point. I think thats why It came across as artifical (to me) more so they could make the story fit together. Vader never beat Obi Wan anyway and Obi put up an amazing fight against Grevious , so yep I'd say his skills are definately under appreciated.
  7. Kind of but from the other direction.
  8. Actually I hope it comes out around october/november. Revolution is supposed to be may/E3 I think dont really want them too close together.
  9. Difficult is a very subjective thing. Disgaea was complex but I didnt find it difficult. A puzzle may be complex, but you may just look at it and see the solution. In which case it's not difficult.
  10. Came across the top of the arm as Anakin jumped them followed through across the legs completing the stroke. Not possible with a real sword since the bone would probably mean you could only get through the arm and possibly part of the leg. Not a consideration with a lightsaber though. I think people seriously overestimate Vader if judged purely from the films.
  11. See that post count ? 2/3rds of that are posts of smiles
  12. About Morrowind being complex ? Well I wouldnt personally call it complex the Xbox control scheme is probably the most complex thing about it. Baten Kaitos, now thats complex. Perhaps even more so than Disgaea if your the completeist type. While there are undoubtably stupid console owners I dont think the idea that games need to be made less complex holds any merit whatever the platform.
  13. Yeah I've begun to picture them like an angel and a devil perched on someones shoulders. I'll leave it to you which is which
  14. I prefer Battlegrounds (think thats what it was called). This one seems to be typical RTS with Star Wars skins. Not that Battlegrounds wasnt either. But Battlegrounds was the first of that type of thing.
  15. What they did to that book was a travesty.
  16. I didnt know he was refering to that. I thought he just meant that online shopping had increased since the time of PST. Quite likely it will. But its still going to be a while before it becomes the norm.
  17. There are plenty of people who can do Bastilias voice it's just a finnishing school english "lady" after all. I went to university with plenty of people who sounded just like that. Maybe thats why I cant stand her
  18. He reminded me more of Squall. The second one refines pretty much everything as well as being huge. I'd take it over FFVII any day to be honest. but then FFVII is low on my FF list.
  19. An 18 rating <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am to assume that means blood and gore? Lightsaber would cauterize the wound. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep lop Lukes hand off and it would be gushing like a fountain. And who knows what sort of mess Anakin would be in with no legs and one arm. Certainly not going to live long enough to stick him in his suit anyway.
  20. Really never could get the hang of Phantom Brave having my army disapear was annoying :D Playtimes always a tough call since it's so variable. Although you get the odd exception like Jade Empire which is clearly and obviously short. Games like Disgaea will take longer because of the slower pacing. I think off hand it took me 120 hours and thats without doing any of the alternate endings. Yuki who tends to be more of a completist than I , put around 400-500 hours into it. If the game is 60 , 80 or 100 hours so much the better. But being a realist I'm not expecting that to be the case. There is a tendancy to want to fit things on to one DvD especially this early in a consles life and I think that will be a limiting factor , unless they go with the PS3's blu ray of course.
  21. What did you hate about it ? And I'd keep away from Darque if I were you she might bite you if she hears that :D I thought covenent was a lot better than the first one anyway.
  22. Well all credit to the makers of Suikoden III. I dont think it would be particularly bad. The number of outcomes are not infinite by any means. Well KOTOR and KOTOR II average at that or less, and Jade Empire at about half that so thats the benchmark that seemed appropriate. 100 hours is tough to pull off unless you introduce a lot of time sinks. I'd guess at that point your looking at more than one DVD. FFX I played and got 90 something same with FFIX I'd guess ShadowHearts:Covenenet would be around that , or more since I was pushing 90 and still didnt complete everything (Thats on 2 DVD's btw).
