It is a great year but boy is this a slow month -
What's your opinion of bugs?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Zach Morris's topic in Computer and Console
They bother me lots which is why I return any games with gamestopping bugs. And why I am going to rent KOTOR II (like I did KOTOR) and buy one if I enjoy the game. Having got fed up of the low quality of PC software I switched to consoles and aside from the Xbox havnt really seen much in the way of bugs. The Xbox seems bug prone for some reason. -
Yes it's finally here on the 18th of feb. This means that Xenosaga is likely to follow. For those who were interested in Disgaea. Phantom Brave comes out on the 4th of Feb.

Baldur's Gate vs. Fallout

I'll just call it a draw. I enjoyed both very much for different reasons. -
Most Disapointing Game Ever
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Darth Reven's topic in Computer and Console
Umm thanks for that I just woke everyone up laughing. I did actually fall asleep in that prison place. Thats the only time a game has ever made me nod off like that. Ditto on the Dragons absolute cakewalk unless you purposely make things harder by not using available items. -
Kotor 2 seriously trashed and bashed

I'll put my money on the new Zelda but RE 4 is a worthy contender. -
Most Disapointing Game Ever
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Darth Reven's topic in Computer and Console
RE 4 'nough said FOT was easy in real time. You just had to play it differently. Most disapointing. NwN. After BGII that was a let down of epic proportion. -
The whole mod culture is very short sighted from developers and publishers. Sure all that free publicity is nice but if people are playing something they wont be buying. When I was playing MMPORGS I never bought other software I never needed other software because they were a full time occupation. Add to that you can only seriously ever play one MMPORG at time. Since I gave up , well last year I bought over 70 games, wonder which year does the best for the industry.. People shouldnt confuse hostility with apathy. I couldnt really care about the NwN builder stuff I never use it so it's of no advantage to me. One of my major reasons for becoming primarily a console player is because there the games are very focused single player for the most part and they will stay that way for the next generation at least. Where as PC games are becoming wishy washy half and half things. I've done the PW's , I've done the MMPORGs and the MP stuff. Family life really dosnt allow for that sort of commitment from me anymore. When people call NwN a huge success I just point to Dragon Warrior and grin a lot Unless you can get some sort of financial support from your long term projects. DD is a start but nowhere near the success story bioware wanted it to be (because your not reaching the offline majority). Your going to shoot yourself in the foot when it comes to the future. Seriously why do you think developers are so eager to work for Bill ?

I must be in Bizarro World...
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console
Expcept you dont actually watch FF games. The cutscenes are a whole different thing. Same as reading large chunks of text in something like PST only much more technologically advanced. You have to remember that DS was designed for novice players and those put off RPGs by all those stats then everything makes sense. -

But that works both ways although it probably didnt occur to you -
I must be in Bizarro World...
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console
A steller story was never a mission goal. Oops you lose as usual. But if you want to continue on that logic , well the OC broke so many promises that DS looks like a saint in comparisson so you cant have it both ways. -
I must be in Bizarro World...
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console
Maybe he thought it was good. Just because you dont happen to share that view dosnt make it wrong in this case. it's entirely subjective. The important things are. Was DS a game anyone could play - very much so. Did it do away with the stats typical of RPGs - yes. Therefore it met its mission goals. It was never a mission goal to write the best RPG story ever. Now if DS 2 meets it's mission goals well it may be something that more experienced RPG players will enjoy too. -
I must be in Bizarro World...

Thats not a promise or a mission goal, thats just you twisting words. that you have to "" the word promise is testament to that. The only loser here is you. -
I must be in Bizarro World...
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console
No they didnt. They didnt promise it or not promise it. The combat like they said is there for people who have never played an RPG before anyone can complete DS no RPG experience required. That dosnt make it crap that makes it successful at what it set out to do. Anyone with a braincell would know that a game made for RPG newbies would be about as a deep as a puddle. Perhaps thats why I enjoyed it It because I had no illusions beyond what they said the goals of the game where. Not having to do anything gave you more time to enjoy the views. -
What are you talking about ?

I must be in Bizarro World...
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console
That was never what was promised. DS set out with the goal of doing away with the stats and complication of RPGS and being something that anyone could play and understand. Which is succeeded at. What people may have wanted it to be isnt relevent. -
I must be in Bizarro World...
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console
Well the first one did exactly what it set out to do which is pretty rare. Whether or not people liked that, not as important as if the second one manages the same feat. The first DS was designed to be played by anyone. No previous experience required. Which was certainly true. Have to wait and see whether or not this one meets it's goals. -
That wasnt games related though was it ?

Many of us here go back to different boards and we will say things to each other that we wouldnt say to a stranger. Like how you call your friend a tosser , it's ok because they know you mean nothing by it. But anyone who overheard may well get the wrong impression. The people on here are generally helpful and welcoming when it comes to new people. Unless they start of with something hostile like "obsidian sux" but then what do you expect.. What is NwN CC ? Custom avatars make the boards less bland. While strangely enough still loading a lot faster than the bioware boards.

No your right your just clueless like most PC gamers.

Fallout is probably the best non fantasy RPG. As for strategy games on consoles, well hate to break it to you but a heck of a lot more than on the PC.
