  1. No , but then most people dont play that way either. Nowhere near JE dosnt have anything that significantly changes the experience. Where as KOTOR has at least few. Compared to KOTOR it's also significantly shorter (being told I should walk everywhere to stretch out the gameplay on the bioware boards is still one on of my "priceless moments". Comparitves of the two combat systems are flawed since one is a hands on system and the other is an indirect system. You would have to compare JE to other hands on systems and there it fairs badly. Jade Empire comes down to 3 moves. Magic attack (ranged) disable (support) strike. Other than that they all do the same thing. Transform styles... Well if you want the game even easier then you will love um. Nothing changes per level except modifiers you start off with all the attacks (normal, hard, area) and they stay the same through the game. Compared to the likes of Tales of Symphoinia (another hands on system) it's a joke. Two plays would take just about as long as one play of KOTOR. I even bought the strat guide to see what I had missed in 20 hours because I couldnt believe an RPG could be that short. Anyway I wouldnt be opposed to hands on combat system in KOTOR III as long as it wasnt as simplistic.
  2. Well he's having a go at commedy.
  3. It also gave you a completely pregenerated and playing it was simply a case on uncovering lost details. I dont think you could pull off PST without a pregen character and I dont think you could pull it of without the old memory wipe trick. I also think my solution of total oblivion beat fighting in the bloodwars
  4. I beg to differ although it was tough enough to require a couple of hours of "training". Not much replay value in Jade Empire as the skills all do the same thing anyway. And it's about as short as RPGs can get. If you played online perhaps. I dont so I rented it.
  5. I can see it happening in New Jersey. One thing you couldnt criticise PST for was the level of dialogue. Although how that will work in a full VO game (or even a partial VO game have to wait and see). One of the core things of the influence system as it relates to KOTOR II is the protagonist. You always have to bear that in mind when making any judgements. And how it might work in a different game. The open palm/closed first thing would have been ok if it didnt just turn out to be another name for good and evil. It rather missed the point and ruined one of the things that was supposed to set the game appart from KOTOR. Having an evil emporer and a Darth clone didnt help matters either.. Many was the time I got the feeling I was playing a KOTOR TC rather than a new game. Fallout used reputation and Karma so it's not like you dont have anything to draw on in that respect. Reputation is generally better where you have areas that dont communicate otherwise you may as well say yourself the effort and go for a universal scale.
  6. Talking to Vrook... Not putting your saber through him takes a level of self control any Jedi would be proud of. Overall though DS acts dont pack enough of a punch to cross you over. More gradual was using force persuade to administer "Justice". It's quite a shock to realise that you have been slipping and your now tetering on the brink.
  7. Second Sight would probably make a better movie than Hitman.
  8. Nice selection. I didnt really mind GoldenEye (though I'd probably have felt differently if I bought it). I really should finish WindWaker.... If you dont own a GBA a Gameboy player is a wonderful addition if you like strategy games because the GBA has the best selection out there.
  9. For some reason this screams out straight to video...
  10. No doubts about that. However in most cases its nothing more than a gimmick added to one or two encounters. To make it a consistant change would increase the workload. Then in order to be fair, you would have to have some way to allow people to see through the duplicity (persuasion skills already in place) and then have a different reaction based on whether or not they fell for your line or not. SW is more suited to the straghtforward approach anyway. The idea that doing evil even for a good cause will taint you. Although it seems remarkably easy to turn your back on the Darkside in KOTOR so the whole "forever will it dominate your destiny" shtik is nonsensical.
  11. Not bad, which games did you get? Seriously I think people too fixated on prices for consoles and games. We could spend twice the price of a console (
  12. Have to get it for Pokemon. : ) Pearl and Ivory for the DS are shaping up nicely. Not really sure about Gale of Darkness yet. The snagging thing didnt really have the same appeal and you cant breed unless you cross over with the GBA version anyway. What more than made up for it was the MP (and catching Ho Ho). Have to see what additional features it has before I buy one. Of course missus already has hers on pre order so I can always play her version.
  13. All rentals.
  14. Judging motivation isnt something CRPGs are very good at. However there is nothing wrong with going with absolutes either. Judging the act not the motive works. If you help someone, then the very fact that you are helping them will push you along the LS scale. Likewise there is no "for the greater good" If you do something evil even if its in a good cause you still get DS points for it.
  15. I shot it to bits because it cant get up the corridor. Nowhere near as tough as it looks.. I like my alternate solutions a little less obvious.
  16. Your supposed to put a line through the original text :D
  17. Generally dont find them hard enough to make traps worth the effort. I do occasionally use them in games like Tenchu, drop a rice ball in the corridor, cling to the ceiling and then decapitate them as the pick the thing up. But the whole D&D trap scene is pretty nonsensical and worthless.
  18. III and IV are ok. Would have been better if they did the tech expansion rather than that elemental thing. Number V will probably be out fairly soon too. They all get a bit repetative after a while since building is pretty formulaic. I'd personally stick to the Fire Emblem series now.
  19. "Do I look like some sort of clown to you"? <claws out>
  20. People have complained about prices for as long as I can remember. It's only the growth of the internet that means you see it more often. If you cant adjust the cost per unit, then the only solution is to sell more units.
  21. True but they havnt said what the fourth project is.
  22. Anyone know how you clear the data off a GBA game ? Something to do with pressing certain buttons but I cant recall which ones.
