Range superiority is alive and kicking.

I"m really worried about the AI... How often does an enemy use an anti engagement move to go after your caster(s)? -
This looks like a Dark Alliance/NWN baby...ugh. I hate the 4 party limit too. I hate that movement where the party leader runs well ahead of the rest of the group as well. VO is bad. NO Fog of War = bad. WTF is that minimap thing useless as ever. The sad thing is it looks like the actual story/FR tie ins are going to be really good.

SLOWED RECOVERY WHILE MOVING - NO THANKS

FTR I admit to being overly critical to try to squeeze every ounce of awesome we can get from this game. -

Yea I wasn't trying to insult anyone(wasn't the purpose). I joke around a lot IRL and it's hard to convey that online so it comes off as harsh...even my friends get mad at me online in games or whatever but when were in person they get it because we're the same. I guess the purpose of that post was to bring up that they don't seem to use or reference metrics when it comes to their balancing or reasoning.... We never hear "Wizards are in line with other casters because the data shows it".... -

Oh THAT AI/Fog of War bug....might be the most IE like feature they've implemented. -

Bro I wouldn't make any video examples or they might disable moving in combat altogether. -
Also Sensuki would love JE's explanation....lol...someone really asked him why does he restrict movement so much in PE. Pretty much said nuh uh. His talk about Wizard vs Druid pretty much confirms he hates Wizards and doesn't want them to do good damage...either that or their QA is bad or scared to tell them the truth.

Yea we've established that it doesn't actually stop kiting...so improve AI and remove slowed recovery? -

Does disengagement have a "grace zone" yet or is that still supposed to be ludicrously over sensitive? -

Disengagement attacks are more than enough to punish movement. -
So... Question:

Restored combat patch maybe....combat in this game screams "save me" -
Autosave issue
GreyFox replied to DruidX's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yea like I said in another thread it seems like a bad idea...especially for conflicts or dialogues that start up upon arrival at a new location. Didn't know that lol....really? I don't know if I own a single game where you can't name your save file. -

Sad that it's going to take a mod to get this game's combat to even resemble fun. Such a terrible addition so late, and they really are gonna deserve any negative reviews they get if people find the combat boring/bad. If the goal was to make combat worse than 15 year old games, well then they've succeeded. -
I'm a bit worried

This thread still brings up a good point though... How do you make the decision to code auto saves to work after the area transition instead of before? -
I think you'll find yourself alone in this opinion as it harkens back to PnP where all you have is descriptions and your imagination. This, along with the scripted encounters should go along way to making this feel like an actual RPG that most of us are used to. Also almost always you hear people say "the book was better than the movie"....there's a reason for that ya know....give me those descriptions over crappy cut scenes and turble 3D.
