  1. Yea but the natural progression of the game took me to Defiance Bay not the village...I'd have to just up and say...**** the companions quests and my own personal beliefs lets hit up this random village! I did all of Defiance Bay first which made sense tom e....i suppose people could get different quests in different order but...i thought it was clear we needed to go to the city before going east.(infiltrate a certain group under a certain ground)(I mean yea I know the main story is not very compelling nor caring so any character probably could be justified in doing whatever the **** they wanted) Where is the level 10 content? Maybe Od Nua in the lvl 12 area...
  2. Yea I just beat the Dyrford area and Act 2 and stuff and its way too easy even back leveled. I even don't use food or rest buffs on purpose and gave myself a -2 to all stats penalty just cuz. I don't see how this late in the game it's so easy. Also the end of act 2 is lulz who came up with that ....yuck.
  3. Drath had a good idea I loaded up a save before I went east from Defiance Bay and I'm level 10 there. So somehow between leaving defiance bay after doing the second "pick your faction" quest and landing in Dyrford Village I gained 2 levels? wut Doesn't matter that content is quick and easy I loaded up the other save and put my IE mod to 50% experience earned. Like Grom said it still feels too easy at level 10 anyway...but now that i switched up to POTD maybe it will be fine or tolerable. Or I could de-level myself at my current save and just go up to level 9 or 10 from 1. Not really a big deal I just found this thread while searching to see if anyone else was lvl 12 without beating the game, I have some solutions either way. I'm not sure how to even get into act3 I just keep on going and doing new things...I feel I have to be close though....it's been a while.
  4. Oh I was just curious to see if I did it since I like a challenge. I don't think just saying the name of the quest is a Spoiler....the quests stay in your log and are grayed out if you complete it...wasj ust gonna look and see ifit was in there.
  5. I don't think that's even possible. On a new 1.05 playthrough, I explored areas thoroughly and completed every available quest (including bounties), and it resulted in my characters being between 10-11 after completing Act II. Are you sure you didn't encounter a bug or something? It's obsidian...could be...but I have no idea why but i used a cheat to put it on POTD and it seems a bit more enjoyable now. Mobs don't just instantly explode when I lift a finger to point at them funny. So I can continue playing on POTD for now. If anyone runs into issues late in the game where you get bored because it's too easy or you just hit the level cap... Use: SwitchPOTD I was playing on Hard and you can't manually up the difficulty from there but the above works.
  6. Reached max level still in act 2....did 2 bounties and 10 levels of Od Nua just now getting to Dyrford Village.
  7. Even with the new patches on 1.06 i've hit max level before act III....wtf
  8. MCA barely mentions his work on Pillars and quickly moves on, while he talks at length, and, dare I say, lovingly, about Wasteland 2 and TToN. Hmm... Yup...people can scoff and be condescending all they want but if you read between the lines it seems as if he wasn't happy with how that turned out...or WHY it turned out that way.(not naming names) He wasn't even in the documentary like was stated before. But yea we don't and probably never will have any proof...silence can be pretty loud sometimes though.
  9. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he did leave due to PoE and it's direction going forward...how often was he shown in the PoE Documentary? Could be that he wanted to distance himself from that. Or maybe he is just bored...but it does seem an odd time to leave, when on the surface, it looks like times haven't been better at OE. We may never really know because each side is just going to say "we wish them well" and keep it classy.
  10. It'd be different for me if the companions were memorable but none are..they are pretty basic and they don't really compare to the companions from the old games. I hope they up their game in PE2 as far as companions are concerned but as long as they keep both options open I'm fine with it anyway. NWN2 vanilla had some very annoying characters and this game's companions reminds me of those...now MOtB had great companions...very well written.
  11. None of them are particularly awesome...I'd rather have had 15+ basic companions in the BG1 vein...the reason they stuck to a low amount was supposed to be quality but that's not there either. I'd call the "good" companions tolerable rather than good and some are downright terrible like people have said about Pallegina. IF they had turned out good then I wouldn't mind the small count but seeing it the way it actually is... I always have my main and 2 hired adventurers because I can only tolerate these NPCs for so long.
  12. This is irrelevant -- the fundamental issue is that the Project Manager (Saywer) simply doesn't believe that the Baldur's Gate games (1 or 2) were very good, and believes that the IWD games are as good as they are despite being saddled with the AD&D ruleset (e.g. they would have been better had a different ruleset been followed). If this had been widely known during the Kickstarter, I suspect that it wouldn't have been as successful as it was. Yea so PoE was doomed to be worse by default I suppose...PoE is saddled with his ****ty version of D&D or w/e the hell crap mechanics he wants to call PoE.
  13. PoE hasn't even outsold the EE games which were re-releases...oh boy...hopefully they can muster that. But it should have been mandatory for them to have had a company play-through of BG1:EE and BG2:EE after the first beta play through they did...we probably would have gotten a much better game or at least some eyes would have opened because PoE plays much worse than either and I can't imagine that happening if they did a side by side comparison. Any Dev honest with themselves wouldn't have put out this type of rubbish by comparison.
  14. If only there were those of us talking about all these issues long before the game came out...some of us are ahead of the curve I guess.
  15. Sorry to hear that, particularly after all the time you spent helping to improve the game. I guess this is perhaps the curse of being so deeply invested. Perhaps there was practically no way the final product could live up to your expectations. I'm happy in this case not to be much of a game critic, as that means I'm pretty much able to relive the experience I had back in college when I first played Baldur's Gate. Except, I haven't dropped out of work for a week (been tempted, trust me, just not a good time for that at the moment), and I'm consuming a lot less pizza. The game has it's flaws, but I'm getting my IE fix in a 2015 package. Honestly the EE games were better...especially that last update to BG2EE...add a few mods from G3 and damn PoE is **** by comparison. I'm doing Bloodborne mostly with Scholar next...game's a few patches (more like design decisions) away from being mediocre and is literally unplayable w/o the IE mod(IMO anyway).
  16. Yea PoE is the second game they've used this soul idea in....recycled ideas even thought its not exactly the same.
  17. Rather than whine about review scores, I'm gonna second this comment. Larian handling the combat/game mechanics and Obsidian handling the plot/writing would create a god-tier game. Only problem, I think their sensibilities might be too different. Yea I've thought of the same thing...tell OE to step aside and let Larian take care of the gameplay mechanics and combat...then OE can do the writing and story and characters...would probably be the best RPG ever but will likely never happen. The gameplay is awesome too though. Also are you an avid CRPG fan? I'm just curious, because I feel like saying that is just weird when talking about this genre. Fallout 3 and Skyrim were heavily undermined by their poor writing and story. So was Mass Effect 3 when the end hit. So are the Dragon Age games. I just don't get how a person can rate a game in a story-driven really highly when the story part falls flat. The gameplay is far from awesome from many people's point of view...I view it as serviceable but nothing near good...they strayed too far from the IE games for me. Yep, and that doesn't surprise me. PoE IS the best game Obsidian's ever made. It deserves a better score than FO:NV, Mask of the Betrayer, Stick of Truth, etc. MOTB is easily better than PoE IMO...it was a masterpiece and if we still count them as BiS then IWD is better for me as well.
  18. Bad design follows a lot of things in this game like the stench from a diarrhea fart. But yea needs to be addressed.
  19. Yea I'd have it at an 8 or so as well and I agree that it's so stupid these days that it has to be a 9 or greater or people think it stinks. That said D:OS is slightly better because its slightly more fun to play. The story and writing is much better in PE than D:OS but in D:OS the combat and gameplay is actually good/fun.
  20. Better combat system would be the real answer but I'm definitely in favor of improved/smarter AI.
  21. I've never played a game that forced me to kill everything just to level up.(which BTW is an action so...)
  22. When did the devs ever state that the quest-XP system would keep characters from reaching max level before the end of the game? The devs? never. The forums? well you can go reread the thread(hint: had to do with over-leveling the content). The humor is that this thread would have existed day 1 if the game had combat XP.
