I had the same set as Clawdias. Hostility > Conviction >Regret (though order probably doesn't matter). First one was by saying 'she's lying', calling out the Inquisitor, and then that aggroing her. (was a witness) Second was by saying that the prisoner should be free and the faith was false. (was the Inquisitor) Third was by saying that the issue was her being divided with herself, but that I could help - with metaphysics. Can't remember who I was then.

****. I just processed this. I'm already worried that original plans might be shifting a ton because of him leaving. How the actual f*ck is this byline the first time I hear about Josh Sawyer leaving?I've seen the info just from floating around the forums so I'm not super surprised if you haven't heard it before. To clarify! He's leaving the Pillars project (at least mostly). He's not leaving the company (or hasn't announced it as of now). But that's still a big downer in my opinion. I really like what he contributes to Obsidian projects and it sounds like some or even a lot of why he's not working on the next pillars product(s) is because he's tired of the constant negative fan feedback. :/

Well they'd also get backlash for saying its longer than people think or shorter than people think (more the latter probably). They've said in past that it's shorter than a White March part (I think?) and longer than Bastards Wound. I've played neither but I've tried to keep my expectations for something short /not create any.

I think that's sort of the comfortable choice to go with, so while I understand the appeal, I'd really prefer Obsidian to continue pushing less typical and comfortable stories. I'm also really hoping the next one, if there is one, addresses the consequences of 2 and sets us up to deal with them (or fail to deal with them).

I'm remember running into intellect checks more than resolve. It helped a lot in the Gullet quest with the family trying to leave. I remember resolve largely happening as resistance to any mind intrusion - Ondras visions with Tekehu included I think - and important for picking up that one soul bound weapon. I think it was in the Woedica temple?

I didn't encounter that before! I can see your point, then! I can also see it as Pallegina feeling she has failed to contribute to her country in the way "she's supposed to" and trying to compensate for that. I say this in part because (on a recent replay of PoE1), Pallegina mentions that for most women that cannot bear children in the Vailian Republics, the "sun has set on their futures." Or something along those lines. When so much of your value and use in your society is based on something that you can't do, and you already have the kind of self-loathing I think Pallegina does, I could imagine how she might feel she has to make up for it. I do have a slight bias against the childless motherly woman trope though, so that for sure impacts how I think on this.

That's cool! I actually plan to play a character who was born in the Deadfire (Leaning toward Newblood Principi since I like Aeldys a lot) so there's a few cool interactions you can get there, including knowing the Huana language. You can know the huana language because of the background? :D That's awesome. And yeah, Deadfire background is an excellent choice for reactivity and integration into the setting. It's also an interesting but less expected fit for the Principi which is great.

Do not take them with you if you're having the final quest conversations with the faction leaders (and they're not in that faction). E.g. Pallegina leaves right away if she's there for the Huana final quest conversation (I'm really simplifying for brevity). From the little I did and from what I've heard, they will leave if you do a quest that does something particularly nasty to/ruins their faction. E.g. Maia leaves (I think) if you blow up the Rauatai gunpowder house (both Onekaza and the VTC can request this). Pallegina leaves (I think) if you frame the VTC for the gunpowder house incident. I have no idea if you can get Pallegina to stay. I've heard you can make Maia stay if you have max rep, and have completed her quest. You might also either have to A) romance her or B) make her quit the navy. Sorry for all the maybe's - a lot of this is stuff I haven't personally confirmed.

I played an orlan, so I can't say anything for sure on the aumaua stuff. For the orlan there were a couple comments I could make about myself (and I think people could make about me), and at least once I was able to get past some bars (I think on the slaver island?) because I could slip by them due to my size. I never got to see the tons and tons of Deadfire, Rauatai, etc. comments because the requirement wasn't met, but hopefully others can be more helpful.

(My apologies, this might come off as me being contrary) I'd love to see more Pallegina too! On the romance angle, I actually liked the way she was written in regards to romance (from what I saw). Anytime you pull her into a situation where she is involved in or approximate to a romantic situation, she is extremely uncomfortable - in a way that I find very appropriate for her character and personally relatable. Pallegina very much comes off as this person that has a stoic exterior but is very passionate and generous beneath that, and also as someone that probably isn't used to intimacy (at least straightforwardly).

I truncated just because my own post should be short, but that was really really well put. I don't entirely agree about the children angle, but everything else I think is pretty spot on. I actually feel pretty much the same way - my apologies if I made it sound like Pallegina is completely blind. My experience with her has been that she notices various issues, but those issues are always outweighed by her dedication to her country and what she thinks it can do for the world. I also suspect that she doesn't care at all what the Republics do to her, on an ethical standpoint, from what I've seen. She assumes full responsibility for whatever happened. As I mentioned before, she definitely has conversations about doubts in what you believe in - either directly or indirectly about the Vailian Republics. I never had her around for the slaver or Poko Kohara stuff, so I didn't know about that. I'd also love to see her show some reticence about a Watcher repeating the behavior that got her in trouble - she was fine in my game because of a premade save, so I never got to see anything else.

I feel bad that people are writing you off because I'm pretty sure you don't mean any hostility (though I get why people might be frustrated after some of the posts and threads I've seen). I'm glad you're excited! I don't know if they mentioned it in the update thread on the forum , but as others have said, the DLC *should * release 10 AM on PST /Pacific time in the US. Which is 8 hours behind the UK, I think? So if you're in that time zone, you should see the DLC available at 6 PM.

If I remember right from the streams, they say you get invited to the island by the pale elves. What triggers that or if you can go without the invite, I have no idea. Typically, it seems like most areas aren't blocked off, so I suspect the only real barrier would be the enemies you might have to fight to get to him.

If you don't care about the Dyrwood, then have her follow orders. I'd recommend *not* pledging to Galawain or strengthening the Dyrwood with Hollowborn souls in that case (because that'll result in war), but Pallegina herself will be fine no matter what you do I think (if she follows orders). There's two ways though: A) Have her *disobey * orders, then pledge to Galawain, then strengthen the Dyrwood with the Hollowborn souls. B) Have her follow orders and do anything *but * strengthen the Dyrwood with Hollowborn souls (don't pledge to Galawain). (for ideal results) The consequences for each are - A: *She gets exiled, but then reinstated when they realize she made the right decision (so she's fine) *Dyrwood and the Valian Republics have good trade relations /Dyrwood isn't screwed over. *The Hollowborn children will be Hollowborn for the rest of their existence. Also, as I understood it, their souls are basically *fed* to the rest of the Dyrwood souls. Which is the most permanent death you can get in the PoE universe. B) *Pallegina is greatly rewarded and well off. *The Dyrwood gets screwed over but can't do anything about it. *What happens to the Hollowborn souls depends on whatever other choice you make. Personally, I don't feel comfortable strengthening souls with other souls (with my understanding of what's happening), especially when they have no choice in the matter. I also really don't want to hurt the people of Dyrwood. But you can't have both without kind of ruining Pallegina's life.
