  1. I really want more Rekke at this point, or even just stuff about where he comes from. So many teases and hints. Thank you guys for sharing those convo details. Going down different routes or making certain checks really adds to one's understanding of the world and what's going on.
  2. Yeah I was wondering why my thread was missing and then I realized it got moved into here, ha. Sorry if this existed before and I should have posted here in the first place.
  3. I don't think she does, because she feels pretty similarly either way about the Vailains and herself. I unfortunately missed out on her relationships with other companions, but I thought her and Maia would have potential to get along because of the dutiful stuff. Also I know that if you force them to stay around each other for long enough, Pallegina eventually gets along with Tekehu.
  4. That's a good point. I originally assumed it's a religious line (or something close to it) that hit home for some reason. But the guilt makes a lot of sense. Does he ever say why he made a bunch of buildings burn or if it was an accident?
  5. Oh you're right! Like he has this huge reaction when you have the "you're the best and worst of yourselves" line What was up with that?
  6. A couple disclaimer type notes: 1) I'm saying will, not would, for brevity. There's no confirmation that there will be a third game, or that if there was another Pillars game that it would be a direct continuation of 1 and 2, but I think Deadfire does some solid set up for a potential third game and there's a solid possibility for it to happen. 2) I'm not sure if this is better for General or Spoilers. This thread will definitely have spoiler tags in the General forum, but I'm sure people have thoughts on this topic even if they haven't beaten the game yet. Sorry for the trouble, ahead of time, if this has to be moved! --- I finished Deadfire a few weeks ago and have since started a new playthrough of PoE1, which I never played the DLC for (planning to move to 2 again after). Something I noticed this time around is that there are actually a lot of small references and conversations about the RDC, the Vailians, and the Deadfire Archipelago. I was most surprised by how often I saw the last, because I didn't remember those Deadfire Archipelago references at all. I must have completely written them off as general worldbuilding. So this got me thinking that there may be similar lore build up and hints with a mind for the next game. Others have mentioned Rekke hints a lot to a region that we know very little about, so if I were to guess right now, I would suspect that or the Vailian Republics to be the next setting or one of multiple settings, or to have a faction coming from that place. But I didn't keep an eye out for this kind of content when I first played. Do you all have any suspicions or ideas on what the next setting will be? I'm really curious if anything stuck out to anybody.
  7. Also these kind of conversations are normally way not my thing, but I think reading all your posts has slowly started to win me over lol.
  8. I don't know why, but applying the puke stabber so effectively to your concept really won me over on two, even though it feels like the more obvious choice (I usually lean toward playing against type or whatever). Especially if two is actually in game drunk half or more of the time. You could role play that character really well in this game. That said, I like how one and two stray a little more from what I'd expect, and I really like how three plays into the lore/game universe. But if one is hard to play /makes talking to characters hard, then I'd only say to go that route to see how much you can push the game when you go that direction. Like a very soft version of dumb playthroughs in Fallout 1 and 2.
  9. Yeah, you need to go out The Bridge Ablaze. After you talk to Waidwen, they'll either give it to you or tell you where to go. The main hub has a couple little side things that you can do when you have some or all of the abilities from the three big levels.
  10. Really? You ask him to leave and he plans to get revenge? That's quite serious for a character that you can't romance lol Oh! No no no, I didn't mean Eder. Sorry! The first paragraph was about him. The second paragraph was referring to Serafen, if you try to sell him as a slave. Agh, I try to keep things short because I hate text typing, but I keep making things confusing for everyone because I'm skimping on words.
  11. Slightly off topic, but Serafen makes a similar wonderful reaction to the adra dragon. Pardon?! She shows up in Deadfire if you spared her in the first game? I know she joined the Principi but she actually makes an appearance as her dragon self?!Oh no no no! Sorry! I didn't mean to mislead. The end boss dragon is this mechanical adra looking thing. That's what I was referring to. Not the master below.
  12. Slightly off topic, but Serafen makes a similar wonderful reaction to the adra dragon.
  13. I can't wait to see how Skaen gets you to sacrifice companions in Pillars of Eternity 3.
  14. I don't think so, unfortunately. I can make a fake email and give you a Twitter account, if you want? Just so you can vote. Edit: Thank you for the clarification btw Clawdias! Much appreciated.
  15. Okay so I'm still on the phone, but I'm still stuck somewhere so I'll say a couple things. I felt mostly positive about the companion involvement. I was really satisfied with how often they interjected into conversations, and they were extremely responsive in that sense. I also really liked that Eder got some special attention and Xoti had some of her own comments. I do wish that there was some more in depth hub conversations or something, asking what they think about the situation. More specifically for people like Eder and Aloth and Tekehu. Maybe Pallegina. It felt weird that they sort of poke at the situation but don't think much about it beyond that. Something on the level of Aloth's conversation after Iovarra or Eder's stuff on the Dozens and Crucible would have been great. (For the record, I'm assuming none of them have that because Eder and my other companions didn't.) --- I thought Rymrgand was fantastic in this DLC. I was so excited that we could have a proper conversation where we could ask questions and make points and have a variety of reactions to him. They also did a great job at showing that unhealthy power dynamic between kith and gods and the lack of respect. Rymrgand tries and sometimes succeeds to *force* you to do something multiple times. He does not treat you like a person or largely consider what you have to say or how you feel. He tries to coerce you into servitude and then oblivion. If you try to keep or argue about the artifact the dragon attached her soul to, he just takes it from you. There is no chance to say no or fight it. It's gross and messed up. The abusive father comparison is really on point.
  16. Which ones are those? Wait what? That seems messed up. Does Eder actually leave? Also I'm pretty sure you can try and he runs away, because there's an ending slide that implies he might be planning something nasty for you as a result. That's one of the most awful things I can think of doing to that poor dude.
  17. Faithful is the one that got stuck in my head. I've caught myself singing it once or twice without thinking. I think I missed out on a lot of the others though. Do you need to get crew to get certain songs or do you get them all off the bat?
  18. I love the discussion in this thread. :D The DLC did some really cool things and also reminded me of a couple of cool things in the game. I'm on the phone so I don't know if I can do it justice right now. Hopefully I'll be on a keyboard soon and be able to contribute more than just "I like it."
  19. I think the team did a good job making the game fun even though I was level 20. I enjoy leveling up and picking abilities out, but I'd rather have the game be consistent and challenging than artificially/lazily jack up my level cap and break the game. If they can do it well, great, but if they can't in the time constraints they have, then I think they made the right choice. Also, I really love the story and themes from both games, and that's the majority of why I play them. Maybe that's partly why I don't mind the level cap. Hahaha. The exasperation. I almost want to make a joke complaint thread now.
  20. I have no idea. I get sad every time my companions get upset with me so I avoid it as much as possible. Edit : Actually I can make a guess though! I've read some of the ending slides for companions and whatnot and listened to their negative rep convos via DanaDuchy on YouTube. It sounds like you can keep them the whole way. Post ending, if they hate you, they pretty much leave as soon as possible and don't talk to you again. And some of the negative rep conversations can push them to leave, and it sounds like they sometimes do.
  21. Well, that /this whole conversation opens a can of worms on what's ethical and general philosophy. Like if people were dedicated, this thread could be a big as that BG2 one. If you think snuffing* out a life is wrong, including with or especially with pay involved, then yes, bounties are a huge ethical problem. You're seeking out people and creatures that are inconvenient to powerful groups and people and killing them for cash. *That said,* if you want to avoid doing that, your only option is to completely avoid multiple areas. Because people with bounties aggro immediately, whether or not you know about them. It's not 100% practical to do (though definitely doable). Edit : To more directly answer your question OP, I think you can sometimes ask what they did. That will tell you whether they are or not. But I don't think the game mechanically cares. They're there as side content to flesh out the world a bit and offer extra side coin.
