  1. I've run into that quite a bit as well. I believe killing random risen can trigger an encounter, but if you're currently weak that won't end well. My sympathies is you're playing on Insanity+. I don't know if you're still doing it, but if you're using IR's main component you can save a lot of time by skipping most item mods. They aren't incompatible, but the design decisions behind a lot of the revisions makes mod-added items stick out quite a bit. Most companion mods can be skipped, as they aren't very good. The only I can really recommend are Varshoon, Soulafern, and Valen. If you play NWN2OC, I recommend drinking copious amounts of strong alcohol before each session.
  2. My problem with ASM2 ultimately boils down to that there are some fantastic scenes, but they feel out of place and the pacing is rushed. IMO, it would have been a huge improvement if Harry had gotten the "cure" relatively early on and had slowly deteriorated into the Goblin, Electro would have had more hallucinations to showcase his instability, the "German torture doctor" would have been cut, and more screen time had been given to Peter and Gwen or Peter and Harry interactions. YMMV. Not sure where they are going with the Rhino, but I felt it was a bit too overtly comedic. I think Rhino works as comic relief as he is a dumbass and does look pretty stupid), but it felt too over-the-top in the film. Big heist film? Certainly wouldn't be that far-fetched. I'm more concerned about venom myself, because that isn't something that can be easily worked into a movie, IMO.
  3. ^I liked killing **** with the drunk, gay elf dude, and golem in DAO too, but it could have done combat much better and quite a bit of quests were boring. I hope PoE does both combat mechanics and quests better than DAO.
  4. If the tradeoff for being able to speak my mind freely without fear of government reprisal is enabling a minority of dumbasses to spew ****, then I'm happy to take that. Some people just need to grow thicker skin and understand creepy **** exist.
  5. I'm afraid disagreeing with your authoritarian leanings isn't trolling Bruce.
  6. So the only way freedom is acceptable is if they don't do anything you disagree with? Afraid that isn't freedom.
  7. Since we're already off-topoc, can someone explain foot fetishes to me? Never really understood the appeal of that.
  8. I initially understood that more as hunger, but haven't read the book in a long tome. Will make a point to reread that asap.
  9. Actually, 'Tep, vampire stories have always had a sexual element to them. Dammit, Dracula is a love story, unrequited to boot. I've read cultural critiques of vampire fiction, from Anne Rice's Vampire Lestadt to True Blood as analogues for AIDS, BDSM and all everything else inbetween. Dammit, if Christian Grey had fangs then Fifty Shades might have caused the World To Explode. So Twilight, if you want to look at it's subtext as piece of stunningly successful popular culture, actually subverts what was traditionally a dark, adult trope (forbidden, dangerous, otherworldly lover) and dumps it smack-bang in the middle of young adult literature. You can't ignore that cultural baggage. I'm not suggesting the author intended to do anything other than write powerful YA fiction, but you need to know the clay from which you intend to fashion something better than she did. Admittedly I haven't read Dracula in a while, but can't remember the the romance angle. Will have to put that on the very long list of things to read. Will agree that vampires have always had a sexual element. Vaguely recall that early incarnations were corpses come back to life to have sex with spouses
  10. I suppose we get into that whole beauty in the eye of the beholder thing. For instance, never really understood why people like romantic comedies, but don't really care. Perhaps I'll have to reread the JMS run. I remember liking it less near the end, and disliking the three storylines mentioned by grom quite a bit, but was ultimately able to greatly enjoy it in spite of that. *shrug*
  11. I've always felt the Twilight movies had "rapey" undertones, having seen only the first and last. Besides, the acting is terrible.
  12. Amazing Spider-Man 2. Sort of meh. Wish they would have worked in more character interaction and reduced some of the action scenes. Not sure what to think of the Rhino.
  13. Went to a party for a few hours. Currently in an altered state of mind. Managed to get a girls number, but can't remember if she was hot.
  14. Was intoxicated for much of posts, so perhaps that is why they're haphazard. Not sure that saying I can deal with 3 godawful storylines in a 6 year run is makig loads of excuses, but find quantifying "loads" to be a difficult task. *shrug* anyways, find that good entertainment is often scarce across all media. Find most television serials, movies, comics, novels, and poetry we've sampled to be refuse.
  15. I made it through. Feel like the survivor at the end of The Cube.
  16. Preacher I kinda cheesey, in that over the top action movie sort of way. Part of the reason I enjoyed it so much, to be honest. I thought Sandman was great, but it did have some low points. JMS run on Spider-Man was largely fantastic. I'll agree with it souring towards the end, but don't know if I should pin that on JMS or editorial, who seemed to want a very different Spider-Man. *shrug*
  17. 'My ex made me take her to see Twilight. It was terrible. I'm surprised such a high budget film could feature such bad acting.
  18. ^If it makes you feel better GD, I'm young and vote in every election. Agree that more participation would be better, but find it very hard to convince some to get off ass. I don't need luck, I got madskillz.
