The End of The Beginning
Malkaven replied to Sordel's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I agree with this. This is not how kickstarter should work except for the fact that Obsidian is going to receive over three times the amount they asked for. They haven't changed their original vision but expanded on it. Yet there is still money available to enhance their vision. The expansion/stretch goals is where people should have a little influence. *edit* assuming ones "influence" doesn't interfere with the vision.... -
Which tier did you choose?
Malkaven replied to Althernai's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm at the 140 tier and 147 pledged. I plan on upping my pledge but I'm not sure how much. It all depends on the big update today. My wife doesn't know about my pledge yet. She will probably figure it out when I'm two weeks into the Obsidian diet. That grocery bill is going to be low for a few months! -
The End of The Beginning
Malkaven replied to Sordel's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm hoping the developers stay active with their updates. It helps keep the community strong, which is very important. I've given more to this game than any other game. Part of the reason is because I love how "involved" I feel from the constant updates and the activity of the devs. -
Dungeon Level 11 is a reality
Malkaven replied to Keyrock's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
So the dungeon can keep growing past kickstarter? 13 would be a great feat if we can get there. -
Mega Dungeon
Malkaven replied to Malkaven's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I get your point, however if this is a game with limited inventory space (fingers crossed) that is going to be a tall order for someone like me. I tend to be a bit of a klepto in RPG's, obsessively picking up anything with any value. Mostly I want to be able to leave and sell stuff. I really hate leaving stuff behind as I adventure. I am the same way. I collect anything of value. I cant tell you how many times I had to haul things around encumbered or use a strength potion to make it back into town. I'd love a way out of the dungeon so I can sell my stuff and get rich. -
Does anyone know if we are going to be able to leave the Mega Dungeon and come back to it? We are currently at 10 levels and were pushing for more. That is a ton of content and it will take me a mega long time to complete. Then my wife will be mega mad and then I will be in mega trouble Enough with the puns(its mega fun to do though). Will the dungeon allow us to go all the way through or just part way and force us to come back at a later level/time.

A second city is build
Malkaven replied to Hassat Hunter's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I am shocked on how much has been pledged in the final moments. I never thought we would see a second city but I think we will! -
Make a wish for 3.6

If we reach 3.6 then the game gets completed by next Tuesday. That's my wish -
Surge in backers!
Malkaven replied to chisled2bone's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
More money doesn't always = a better game. I'd much rather have a $3.5 million game aimed at a specific niche audience (PC RPG fans) than a $20 million game aimed at everyone with a gaming platform. If Project Eternity somehow generated the kind of hype a game like Skyrim received, and millions started pouring in, I think the devs would feel some pressure to not only justify the extra money with features that typically ruin RPGs (like fully voiced dialogue), but also pressure to make the game appeal to a broader audience. They're already experiencing some pressure just trying to appeal to a small bunch of cRPG fans who disagree on issues like turn-based combat vs RTwP and cooldowns. Just imagine the headache they'd have if the project gained a widespread following. I don't think there is any reason to 'fear' the kickstarter suddenly going up by millions of dollars. Also it's perfectly possible there's a few kids* on IGN etc, who are to young to have been introduced to the old IE games but who would have enjoyed them if they had and who could be interested in PE. Not saying they are any significat portion of those sites readership but even if they're only a fraction of a percent they wouldn't be insignificant. *I don't mean this in a pejorative sense, I was a kid when I first played Torment. Of course not. I'm just speculating that if it did somehow generate enough hype to start going up by millions, it wouldn't necessarily be a good thing. This would make sense if the developers weren't getting paid up front. More money = Good. -
Collectibles Minigame?
Malkaven replied to Korruptive's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I love mini-games or collections in games. I think it would be fun collecting cards in the game. Especially if they have art and a little bit of lore on them. -

What mold should be broken?
Malkaven replied to fan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I always loved how in Witcher/Witcher 2 they were able to break the mold using Tolkienish races. Elves were not hanging around bragging about how old and beautiful they were. They were sent to ghettos to live like scum because humans were in general racist. The younger ones were considered terrorists because they fought against the humans. I’m not asking for terrorist elves (sounds weird but lorveth was the man) but the amount of passion that they had was amazing. I haven't seen that in a game before. The elves were affected by what was happening in the world. They didn’t have a choice to stay neutral.- 131 replies

I really don't get why people get so offended when people ask for coop? Seriously? Asking for coop = questiong the dev competience and business matter? Or better yet only 5% of the pledgers want coop. I love that math. When it comes down to it, most, if not all crpgs are Dungeons and Dragons based. How many of you have played dungeons and dragons alone... Coop isn't a deal breaker for me and I'd imagine it isn't a deal breaker for most people in this post. But I feel that it would make a great addition to the game. I understand the dev's said no but i'm letting them know there is a want. It never hurts to ask, beg, plead, again.
