  1. I was just strolling through a skirmish with my Sisters of Sigmar. Two of the girls were gathering wyrdstone while the rest had engaged the mercenaries on two corners. Suddenly and unexpectedly, the mercs reinforced one engagement. So I rushed a Sister Superior and the Purifier over to help and ensure the Novice had a chance to survive those halberds being swung at her. Right in the thick of the fighting, the Purifier turned to call down a Comet of Sigmar on the Veteran threatening our Novice. And got cursed by Tzeentch or was smote by Sigmar, who knows, who cares... the uncontrolled winds of magic lashed out through her at everyone around her, wounding all nearby warriors. "Open Wound" debuff on everyone, meaning that even though I pulled the rescue off and the Novice managed to retreat, with no casualties in the fight, 5 out of 8 Sisters still landed in the infirmary for two days
  2. That's a bold move! But such a good game! Finished the stuff I have: Base game, Rook City&Infernal Relics, Shattered Timelines, Vengeance, and the Unity, Scholar, Ambuscade, Miss Information, Silver Gulch and Final Wasteland mini expansions. Waiting for my orders of Wrath of the Cosmos, Villains, Guise and Wager Master to arrive. Then I'll need the last three mini expansions I am missing.
  3. I don't play games. I am sleeving my Sentinels of the Multiverse cards. Done over a thousand. Got about 500 to go.
  4. As some people will have cleverly spied in the picture-thread, the Purple Toe ran into a Bloodletter of Khorne. Stupid high initiative. It was going to be the purest of melee. Sisters of Sigmar and the Purple Toe pretty much deployed on opposite ends of a street, which they'd charge down and proceed to beat each other to a pulp. And right in the middle the Bloodletter appeared. Who was not weighed down by heavy armour and thus reached the daemon first? Us of course. True, the reason they managed to still emerge victorious is testament to my awesomely mad skills But if the Maiden of Sigmar had the time to get one more hit in, it would have been the Toe routing instead
  5. Hear hear.
  6. I did not take a break from Septerra and did not mind the combat. What really annoyed me were the large maps running from ladder to ladder to get the colour coded buttons.
  7. Venerari the mutant, now fully mutated
  8. Venerari the mutant (not to be confused with Venerari the darksoul who was back at camp training) got a mean beating from them sigmarite flails and warhammers. Heavily wounded he slunk away, leaving the rest of the Purple Toe to the fight. To pretend he was doing stuff and not just hiding, he started to gather wyrdstone, behind the cult's skirmish line. Picking up the leftovers that Lopt the marauder had not been able to carry. He was just about the walk to the cart and unload the haul, when he saw a shape looming down the alley. A chaos ogre?!? How the warp had Lopt not noticed? Was that marauder blind? The ogre for one wasn't. It came lumbering after Venerari. The mutant got two good hits in before all went black. Miraculously, he awoke back at camp no worse for wear.
  9. I got to play an early version back when, and had a lot of fun with it
  10. Bryy's game is out on Steam! Just bought it http://store.steampowered.com/app/427930
  11. Agreed, previews and interviews made it sound as if base defense would be a thing. I even upgraded my defenses, but other than that one first defense I never got attacked again. Enemy Within had done this better. already in the forgetting until all DLC process.
  12. I could have done with the ending not having that commander part.
  13. I have been trying to test the conditions under which they'll do it, but I haven't encountered enough. The berserker ignored the civilian cowering in the retaliation mission to kill the officer. I assume it had to do with no xcom operative being within charge range.
  14. The fun thing about berserkers is that in enraged state they can attack their allies. I had a Berserker take out the Officer and Shieldbearer it had been patrolling with,
  15. Berserkers seem to be in a strange transit difficulty tier that you pass too quickly to notice. A pitty as they are fun enemies.
  16. I could tell you that. But my mum told me not to lie. Of the two it's the one to the right who shot at me. Edit: that is not to say that the other guy didn't also take a shot
  17. They seem to have changed the rules. Some line of sights are quite questionable. This was the situation when I was wondering how the hell they could see me:
  18. Anybody tried out Proximity Mines? https://youtu.be/UG_4hdX3NK0
  19. On other news, Frozen Synapse 2 announced earlier today: http://www.frozensynapse2.com/
  20. My cheesing experience continues. Open the door to reveal 1 Archon and 1 Sectoid. They run for cover, triggering the other group: 1 Shieldbearer, 1 Stun Lancer and 1 Gatekeeper. Eeek! Gatekeeper! My Psi Ops opens a Void Rift hitting the Archon, Sectoid and Gatekeeper. One of them triggers Insanity. The Gatekeeper. Which Insanity effect? Mind Control. I think I need to start streaming this. The audience would get a completely wrong impression of the game
  21. The game really is about ganging up on enemies. 4 or 5 xcom operatives vs a standard 3 person advent patrol should result in a kill, and then 2 to 1 odds. It gets easier once you have some key skills.
  22. No spoiler really: there is no second plot structure. That spot really is for the useless lab I am just putting off going on the final mission sequence, while doing stuff (build a lab for the steam achievement, grabbing the last countries I am missing etc). Also just goofing around in missions now trying out various things for silly screenshots.
  23. Thought I'd just share the reason why I can cheese everything by hiding behind a Sectopod. "Breaker" is my first Specialist, and was my main goto guy for healing and hacking until he got gravely wounded. Then "Crypto" took over. A dedicated healer she quickly replaced "Breaker" as the main specialist, though often both would join the squad on runs. Then both got wounded. So my third specialist, who hadn't seen that much action got a shot. "Rogue" - who's main claim to fame had been his attempt to drive the aliens off earth by confronting them with his fashion sense: Now that he has gotten two permanent increases to his hacking skill, who were those other two again?
  24. Restarting the PC cleared XCOM problems for now. Engineers are ok. Scientists are pretty useless and the lab is pointless. So little to research. If at least you could staff the Psi Lab with a scientist instead of an engineer, then one of them would have something to do. All I have left to research is Facility Information, but... I blew all of those up. -7 AVATAR Progress in one month.
