  1. I love these threads (mostly with the butthurt posts about the Codex). I don't mind short games if they're good but I always have reservations going into them. While not an rpg, there was an adventure game called Stasis I recently played that took just over 8 hours for me to finish. I heard it takes around 8-12 hours to finish before playing so I was under the impression this was going to be too short. I'd have to say that 8-12 hours was a good length and this was one of the best games I've played over the last 18 months.
  2. linky? Here's the first two episodes. Seven episodes in all. Download Links in the descriptions if you want to download the 1080p mp4s. Not having a console, I watched this and found it riveting. Especially Episode 6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRqnZzmAg4w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsv4V3O7gI4
  3. I don't watch let's play videos. The exception would be The Last of Us cinematic play through which I thought was quite amazing. It's seven episodes and it's like watching a TV show. I liked it so much I downloaded the 1080p mp4's from the links in the Youtube descriptions.
  4. I bought BGEE pre-release under the impression it would be an Enhanced version of the original. What I received when I played it wasn't an enhanced version of BG and regret my decision buying it. How people want to define 'enhanced' is up to them but I did not see it as an enhanced version and gave up on it due to a myriad of reasons which I've stated in previous threads and wont go into again. I've always said once bitten, twice shy. Having already bought BGEE, my curiosity will probably get the better of me and I might try out Dragonspear. But I won't be buying it day 1. I'll wait a year or two and hopefully get it from someone who wants to give it away and the bugs are mostly squashed.
  5. Finally got around to playing Stasis yesterday and today and got all the achievements in one play through. yes, I'm an achievement whore. Enjoyed the story and great atmosphere. The ending wasn't what I expected and I liked it. Some might say it's depressing but I think it's good how it ended. The puzzles were quite good and some of the puzzles had me stumped for a while. Also, good to see my dead body with my real name in the game and I liked very much where it was placed. Very easy to find and about a third of the way in the game. The stuff I received from the developers.
  6. Many years ago, I made the decision to only buy games I know I'll play and finish. If I know I'm not going to play it, then why am I giving my money away? I never bought into the Steam and GOG sales with buying games and never playing them. As for this year, I can only think of one new game I'll be playing. Torment.
  7. 2E IE games set in FR, Ravenloft, Dark Sun, etc the way Bioware did the BG games. (oh and nothing like Pillars of Eternity).
  8. I've noticed out of the 70 games I have on GOG, 31 are D&D games.
  9. No surpise at all with MCA's comments. Going through the first 25 backer updates. There's surprisingly a lot of updates from Tim Cain. Looks like they didn't listen to him either. We see combat and non-combat skills put in together. Bestiary XP is all about body count to get those bestiary pages and rewards for killing. While not a confirmation, I wonder if they really tried to put multi-classing in. Comparisons to the cities of Baldur's Gate and Athkatla. While the big cities in PoE might span over multiple maps, those maps are smaller than Baldurs' Gate and Athkatla. Dyrford only has one inn. In BG1, small towns like Nashkel had maps that were still big and had two inns. When you look at IWD1, the maps like Easthaven, Kuldaher and Lonleywood only have one inn and maps were generally smaller. PoE took more from IWD than BG1/BG2 despite the original comparison to BG1/BG2 with its Big Cities. Trees should be swaying. (also mentioned more and actual video footage in Update 49) Low intelligence dialogue confirmed. And the big one. TWO versions of every dialogue in the game. No more physical copy. Instead the high tier backers get a notepad. LOL. New talents introduced can now cure health. So lets still ignore magic. The talent itself of putting a Band-Aid on your profusely bleeding arm now cures your health. This is more than a placebo effect! Overall: A lot of promises during the Kickstarter campaign and it comes across as throwing things out there and not realising the implications of what they were saying and not being able to back up those things.
  10. Started a play through of Warcraft 1-3. Photo taken from my Nokia Lumia. Check out that polygon count.
  11. Just like the IE games which had no checks, you need to download and install the patch.
  12. Blame the majority of backers who wanted this. Obsidian is only doing what the majority of backers voted for.
  13. Awesome stuff. https://forums.inxile-entertainment.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=12985&p=150973#p150973 Definitely looking at one of the collectors editions.
  14. Day 1 pledge from me and very interested to know what the tiers will be.
  15. With all the nerfs being tossed around, why not a trap nerf to sweeten the deal. Glad I finished the game before all these nerfs.
  16. Documentary should eventually find its way on Steam and GOG. For Steam users, there is a folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Pillars of Eternity\Documentary where it will eventually appear. At the moment there is only text document saying this is where the documentary will appear.
  17. I got to level 8 of Endless Paths before going to Defiance Bay. That's more than half the mega-dungeon completed before starting Act 2. This was on Hard. And then I went to Defiance bay and did some side quests, did not touch the main quest, and went back to Endless Paths and reached level 13 and found out I was stuck and couldn't get back out. So I went to a previous save at level 11 and then went back to Defiance Bay and started the main quest.
  18. It's not obsessive. I found a lot of the side quests more enjoyable than the main story.
  19. Does familial bonds go for familiars as well? Like a Ranger's pet. I'd also like to see something from WL2 where you can charm enemy animals and see where it leads, especially if you're a shapeshifting druid.
  20. I don't understand why people blame the bounties for hitting the level cap early as you've stated quite correctly here, you can only do 3 of the bounties before you hit Act 3. And when I hit Act 3, I was practically on the cusp of the level cap. I did the rest of the bounties after I hit the level cap.
  21. Yep, I noticed kiting when I played as well. I also noticed another effect like a seesaw. This was pretty easy to do with having one of your characters move in and out all the time, and the enemy couldn't get to any of my characters while the rest of my characters could shoot from range and kill the enemy.
