  1. Why would anyone let an 8 year old play a game which starts with a tree full of hanged people, features Durance and explores concepts like children born without souls, macabre ritual sacrifices or nobles impregnating their unwilling nieces? Anyhow, I thought Normal was fine for learning the mechanics (experience with IE games didn't help me all that much), but the difficulty drops later so changing to Hard is a good idea.
  2. Imoen is the best Thief in BG1 though, she has the best stats Stats don't make characters likeable. And I played a thief, so I didn't need her. I dual classed her to a mage quite early. I did care about her, though. Finding my little sister was a good enough motivation for me in BG2. I was more annoyed about being joined by Minsc, whom I had never recruited in BG1, and Khalid, who died months earlier. Oh well.
  3. So now we know. WM2 official announcement introduced a barbarian companion, but no cipher.
  4. Really? Does anyone have a link? Here:http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/82856-white-march-part-2-companion-appears-to-be-a-female-aumaua/
  5. Ironman doesn't make the game more difficult, it just promotes metagaming and makes failure more frustrating.
  6. I finished the release version, no patches. Now I'm waiting for the second part of expansion before I create another character. I don't have a lot of free time, so I want to play the final version.
  7. Most of their other games are sequels to critically acclaimed titles. PoE is a new IP and a PC exclusive inspired by RPGs that the mass market audience generally considers outdated. 500k is fine. This number will only grow with every future Steam sale.
  8. None of that applies to Galaxy. You decide where to install the games. You decide whether to auto-update or download patches of your own choosing manually. And you own the games you buy - you can download installers and make backup copies, for example. You can use Galaxy purely as a download manager or a patching tool. But clearly that's not good enough for you, because you hate it on principle. It doesn't all apply to Steam either. You can mod Steam games and choose where to install them. Tbh, I don't think I own any games which don't let me change the installation path, no matter the method of distribution. I also don't consider Galaxy a social network platform. It has what, just a friend list?
  9. I wouldn't call DMS fantastic. It was enjoyable, sure, but it had a few undeniable flaws which Harebrained later improved. So imo it was a good prototype of fantastic games that followed Between Dragonfall and Hong Kong, I couldn't say which is the better game. If I made a list, Hong Kong would probably have more points in its favor, but story is a central element in this kind of game and I think it carries more weight than some features which were stronger in Hong Kong. Dragonfall wins here with better pacing and a more satisfying ending. But in the end they're both excellent, so play both in whatever order you like. You're probably going to replay them anyway.
  10. Doesn't sound like them being much of refugees if an incoming cold winter and an economic downturn would make them think twice. //edit: They were Iraqis, lol I'm fine if less refugees come to Europe because they think life is hard in the EU...life is harder in the EU than people assume So Elerond and Meshugger if you guys are feeling guilty about Finland creating such a bad impression of the EU....don't feel guilty. People also need to see the negative of the EU that isn't even that severe Looking at it globally, life is awesome in the EU. Sure, it isn't perfect, but nowhere is - and how many places have it better? How many of these places can be easily reached by African and Middle-Eastern refugees? That said, there is definitely a cultural and geographical shock involved in this kind of migration. It's no heaven on earth.
  11. A lot of them went to Russia or other neighboring countries. The number of asylum applications in Poland rose rapidly last year and we issued a few hundred thousand temporary work permits. My city is working on an immigrant integration program involving affordable housing.
  12. I don't have a problem with this design because it's compatible with my playstyle. I rarely switch out companions, I choose my team and stick with it all the way to the end. I'm not a completionist, so I'm okay with missing a companion quest. In my first game I left Durance in Caed Nua and never finished his quest. I'm going to keep him for the second playthrough. I'll have something new to learn about him, it's nice to see fresh content when I replay a game.
  13. Do you think they're going to let a vithrac inside the Ducal Palace?
  14. I have nothing against Germany and Germans, but I don't buy into their version of #EuropeanSolidarity. After Central European and Baltic countries joined the EU in 2004, Germany (and Austria) chose to uphold the labor market restrictions for our citizens for full seven years, the maximum period they were allowed to do so. We couldn't freely seek work in Germany until 2011. Today they let a flood of Syrians into their country barely checking their background, give them welfare and when they get tired of the people they invited, they try to drop them off on our doorstep, demand that we shelter them and give them jobs and threaten with the use of force if we refuse. Give me a break.
  15. I was tearing people apart as a purely melee ork in DMS. I don't care if playstyles are perfectly balanced as long as I'm having fun with my chosen build. Which I did.
  16. I started off as a shotgun mage, but in the later part of the game I didn't need to use weapons at all. I should have put those spare points into Dodge and Body instead or become a master diplomat with multiple etiquettes.
  17. Maybe you need to talk to the dead lady in Gilded Vale first.
  18. Did you talk to the hanged dwarf woman in Gilded Vale? She gives you the Old Watcher quest. Are you sure you're checking the right statue? Durance (the guy by the statue, but he's human) is in Magran's Fork, directly south of Gilded Vale. Caed Nua is two maps east from that location.
  19. It was actually a suggestion on their UserVoice page with over 900 votes, so I don't know if we can attribute this one to a specific person, even though someone must have asked it in the Q&A stream.
  20. So does it mean Obsidian can do whatever they want not only with modified parts of their own games, but also new assets (i.e. art) created entirely by modders?
  21. Aren't there orange lines on the compass pointing in the direction of your quest objectives? One should lead you to the docks.
  22. Yes, this happens every now and then, usually in Athletics/Strength checks.
  23. Throne of Bhaal was an expansion.Mask of the Betrayer was an expansion. See, I've played games too! Disclaimer: I'm completely fine with White March being like TotSC and not ToB. An expansion adds new areas. A sequel continues the adventure. Not sure what point you are trying to make..... An expansion is new content added to the base game. A sequel is a new standalone game. Either of them may or may not continue the previous story. I gave you examples of expansions set after the main quest. One from a series serving as an inspiration for PoE, one from a game developed by Obsidian. I can also give you examples of sequels with new protagonists and new stories, sharing only the world and little else with the previous game: Neverwinter Nights 2 (ha!), Oblivion.
  24. Hey, some of us bought the expansion three years before the game was released.
