The "Unofficial" P.E. Relationship/Romance thread
I read all kinds of fiction and I must say the ones that can be considered mature 90% of the time includes romance even if it's a only soldier writing a letter to his fiancee. Can you please exemplify which mature fiction doesn't include romance "at all"? Or even better I'll give you 5 opposite examples for each of yours.

The "Unofficial" P.E. Relationship/Romance thread
So you want the game to do anything in order to sell more? FPS games sell as well, should PE change from it's current goal to become a MW clone? Where did I say "anything"? We funded a cRPG and we are discussing the inclusion of romance. You come up with Modern Warfare clones. If you rather support a FPS than a cRPG with romance, then this is seriously the wrong forum for you. Where did I say I liked FPS? That's a strawman and it doesn't matter If I do or not. The point is, why should the writer or combat designer etc change their scope just to sell? Your post suggests that romances should be included, simply on the fact that they attract buyers. And on an off note, I like how you people call us totalitarians and a lot of other things that might be considered offensive. Yet you use ad hominems and strawman arguments I just saw about 4-5 others called your argument illogical and exaggerated but of couse you won't submit. Througout the thread, I have argued why and what kind of romance should be included or exxcluded in P:E and also added the fact that they sell games and that I want this game to sell, unlike PS:T. You probably know (or at least have the decency to guess) that it's not my "only" argument in this topic but choose to act like it is. There's no point to get into any further discussion with you.

So you want the game to do anything in order to sell more? FPS games sell as well, should PE change from it's current goal to become a MW clone? I think asking for well written romance dialogues between at least a few characters of different gender is far from anything. Hyperbole is bad. On top of that, if they have to sacrifice small things for them to sell MANY more copies, then the answer is yes. Because I want sequals. Obviously there's a line, but you rather exaggerate. Not everything has to have a direct sequel, but aside from that, No good writer makes sacrifices for the masses. They write what they want, and those that matter love it. You're part of a mass of naysayers in this case and you ask the P:E writers to sacrifice romance for other things. Then you come and accuse people of the same thing. What you fail to understand is we're not asking the next Fifa to include romance. What we are asking is a mature cRPG to include romance because mature topics include romance amongst other concepts.

Reads like a feature list for Love Plus or School Days or other games like it. Also, rape? Really? Nah you get it all wrong. I don't suggest the option of rape being given to the PC or that I want to see it animated in any sort of way. I'm saying IT SHOULD HAPPEN in this game world (e.g. in quest dialogs), of course if it adds to the realism of the story. Rape happens a lot in the real world but it happened a hundred times more in the earlier ages. I seriously feel I'm being lied to when I see that young woman quest giver unharmed in the middle of a town that just been sacked and with all those male bodies lie around. It's just not real. While I hate all sorts of violence, a person being decapitated, feels like a worse crime than rape to me. If the other happens, there's no realistic reason for the other not to.

I'm all in for natural romance. With no streamlined outcomes. That is: - No 100s of gifts that fill a relationship bar. - No relationship bar in the first place. A person can fall in love with someone who he/she hates, given a romantic moment happens. - Romances should not have preset consequences such as bedding, marriage, children or what not. Player choice + NPC characteristics should decide what happens. - Romance options shouldn't be limited to Player - companion. Other NPCs should be romancable as well and even companions can fall in love with eachother. - Bitter relationships such as marrying someone you widowed, rape, becoming a widow etc. should happen as well.

Which game hook brought you to Project Eternity and interests you the most?
for me: PST>FO/Arc>IWD/KOTOR2>TOEE>NWN2 (got bored quick). Left out BG since it doesn't really belong to anyone in this team AFAIK. I'd put it somewhere in the middle anyways.

Did you miss out on the Kickstarter? PayPal options are still up... but not for long!
Great news!

The Future of Clerics
There are priests in the game and they can heal/protect others in terms of stamina. It's health that requires resting. And I'm not sure I like the existence of health since "resting" after each few battles takes away from tension.

How much should obsidian steer away from classic IE games?
It's strange but many people don't want to see high fantasy. Why the heck they're supporting P:E is beyond me but all money is welcome in the end.

3,5M Stretch goal: Surprise us Obsidian!
what exactly is that?

3,5M Stretch goal: Surprise us Obsidian!
A city of tree houses maybe?

Magic: Limited Casting?
No to limited spells. Yes to whatever cooldown/mana/casting time stuff.

Are you for or against gaining experience points only for completing objectives?
While I like non-combat resolves A LOT, I think combats must have a small bonus, such as a 10%.

3,5M Stretch goal: Surprise us Obsidian!
Now that it's quite obvious that we're going to get the 3,5M stretch goal, along with paypals and stuff, I'm really excited to see the concept designs for 2 cities. But throughout the forums I've seen that people are concerned of the possibility of both cities looking alike. I've seen many people asking for an underground city, which is cool, but let's see more interesting ideas. What can be that new big big city? Here are a few from me: -A cylindirical sinkhole with balconies on the perimeter. a bad example -An ancient necropolis where the inhabitants dwell in tombs and catacombs. example for exteriors -A natural cave/city with underground streams. example -A city built inside an enormous living creature or atop a giant's shoulders. example -One built around giant dragon bones or other giant rock formations. example -An underwater city. Say your own ideas please.

Big City #2- 3.5mil. stretch goal
That sounds... really awesome, actually. Now that it's obvious we're gonna get this stretch goal, I support this.

Help me decide to back this project
No but we know that crafting will not be mandatory. In other words, if you somehow dislike the way crafting is implemented, you will not miss it. But if you feel like a cRPG is not complete without crafting, like me, you will have the chance to do it. Yet I trust obsidian to implement is as subtle as they can (i.e. not farming every bush) and make it worthwhile (unlike D3). Super good point but it is already adressed. What you mean is "level scaling" (a system which automatically brings monsters to your level). There will not be ANY level scaling in P:E except a few very critical/dramatical key points ONLY UPWARDS. What does it mean? You will not be able to step over the last boss (if it exists) in case you levelled up a little too much. Unbalancedly hard encounters will be there. Well I wouldn't want to carry trash around but it's what some "realistic" people ask for, every sword holder drops a sword and every sword has a value at a vendor. If it were me, if an item isn't good for anything other than vendoring, it should drop as gold in the first place. I don't know how it'll be handled but I sure wish it isn't something that puts me away from adventuring. Well in the end you should back this project because either way it'll be an amazing game and you wont be comfortable without buying it.
