  1. I really like the Samsung software, I have a 830 and 840. Also a Crucial M5, I don't have any complaints with it, the Crucial M500 is meant to be good value.
  2. Pretty sure there won't be an editor, at least from Obsidian, they're not going to support modding. That doesn't mean the game won't be modded.
  3. I stay away from MSI and Gigabyte since my 2000 and 2006 builds had issues, especially the Gigabyte board.
  4. ASUS software was really buggy 5 years ago, but the interface and visuals were way better than other brands, really nice if you want to tweak the UEFI settings from Windows. They sorted it out recently though, my Haswell MoBo has basically the same software as my SandyBridge MoBo without the horrendous bugs. On the older board services keep crashing (well once a month or two) and one service has a memory leak that made me set up a schedule to restart it. I really like ASUS and ASRock, ASUS has the features and software, ASRock has the value.
  5. Fallout and Vampire: Bloodlines have the best stories in games, they're the way stories should be told in games. People talk about Bloodlines but due to Bethesda legacy New Vegas has just as many problems as it, and it's just not as good as Bloodlines in many areas while still being far above other developers abilities. No Bethesda game is above a Troika game.
  6. Lets get our facts straight, this is a paragraph from the Eurogamer article: Now either the author is really bad at writing or they're an idiot.
  7. Attractive virtual women in revealing attire therefore hatred of women, it just makes logical sense, if you've been abusing solvents for decades.
  8. It's as if the roles of France and John Locke were being erased from history.
  9. Not a personal insult or an attack as long as it's in some sort of 'context' or not intended as an insult. Yes, that's pretty much the definition of personal attack, a comment made in an attempt to insult. If it's not intended as an insult it's not a personal attack.
  10. I don't think you can call it a personal attack in the context. It's not enough to say it's intended as an insult. The term "White Knight" has more room to be an insult, depending on how it's meant, that is specific to gender.
  11. You seem to be missing the point of my posts. Did you not read this part of what I posted before: If you're going to ridicule and take the discussion off topic and attack them, then I can understand why they might not feel welcome. So here's an easy question. If male gamers make personal attacks against female gamers, will they feel welcome? I didn't see anything like that in the posts you cited either personal attacks or taking discussion off topic.
  12. Okay, you fail to see a problem with those posts even if it misses the point or just stupid. No problem. I mean everyone has to deal with stupid posts and people who miss the point, and there's plenty of women who do that. You seem to be missing the point of my post right now... OMFG, people are wrong on the internet. What's that got to do with female gamers having a hard time?
  13. I fail to see what the problem is with those posts... and I don't think you can draw anything from a sample of one, there are many women that are not bothered by breasts or fantasy armour, some actually like those. You're saying people can't disagree with others or only females? Pointing out the forum avatar was making a point, it reads to me as coherent, polite, and on topic, even if it misses the point. The pseudo-science post wasn't offensive, just stupid on two counts. Women are going to encounter stupid posts and stupid people in every community.
  14. When I say impossible, that's not strictly true because trance can also work for some parts, but beyond that it is. Even if you spend an insane amount of time on the museum, which has a fully lit area, bringing the crossbow to take out the cameras (or using trance and taking out both guards in the camera room), the final part involves a fully lit corridor where there's a guard standing there looking straight down it, you have to either use obfuscate or an ability like trance on him to stealth past him. I didn't find the theatre or the flat hard without obfuscate or trance, although the flat took a long time because the AI can take a while to move to the right positions. The temple has 4 fully lit tiny rooms with 2 guards in each, you can't trance your way through that, you have to use obfuscate for that. To get the briefcase and stay in stealth in the car park without obfuscate requires trance. There's also the blood hunt and the abandoned hotel, where you're facing vampires with auspex, I don't think you can stealth your way through them without obfuscate.
  15. The sisters will ask you to do two more errands before you get to Bertrand. Bertrand is the one who informs you of the task for which you were sent to Santa Monica to do in the first place.
  16. Stealth without obfuscate is impossible in many areas, shadows aren't everywhere and the AI is far less forgiving when it comes to stance than more recent games, they have a wide range of view and the light metre has to be pretty low. The game is designed that way because of obfuscate and trance would be a lot less useful if stealth was easier, also I think all vampires are meant to have a element of stealth. If you put points in stealth and dexterity it doesn't take much for you to be invisible in the dark when crouched. A lot of the gameplay is based on the original Deus Ex, that game also had unforgiving stealth. The lighting system is a little bugged, like Deus Ex, sometimes areas that look dark are light and vice versa.
  17. Apart from the incoherent ramblings that are your dialogue choices. You're like the thin blood Malk at the beach, speaking in riddles about the future.
  18. The game uses an obsolete Windows API call to determine the amount of memory available. You don't necessarily need Wesp's patch to fix it, Wesp incorporated another very small patch amongst a few others, it only takes a little hex editing to fix it without any patches.
  19. Vanilla 1.2 is playable if you don't run into some technical issues. I recommend Wesp's Unofficial Patch Basic, it fixes a few bugs, adds a little content, balances the game a bit, most importantly it adds widescreen support and fixes some big technical issues. Wesp's Unofficial Patch Plus adds a lot of content, changes the balance of the game a lot. There's a companion mod that lets you gain a companion (childe) and adds quests. Nosferatu (Nos) and malkavian (Malk) are clans that are the most interesting but also the hardest to play, they have downsides that fit the lore and you won't appreciate quite as much unless you play them first, but most people recommend not playing them first because you miss content and again, they're harder to play. Bloodlines is definitely in my top 2 games, maybe my favourite game. p.s. the patch says this but I'll repeat, turn off auto-update in the game properties page in Steam, otherwise it'll wipe the unofficial patch. The unofficial patch is hosted at patches-scrolls. The creator of the unofficial patch posts updates at Planet-Vampire.
  20. I meant notches as in a simple scale so you have a visual reference. Technically all sliders have discrete points that you don't like.
  21. Have a slider with notches and the ability to change the values precisely in an INI file. If anyone is pedantic enough to want exact numbers, they should be happy to do it in notepad. Should be 3 tiers of options, have as many options as possible but hide them from most users: Options Advanced Options (turns on more options) INI (with annotation, at worst with min/max and expected values, at best with explanations of what the option does) Add an INI editor if you're feeling generous and the options get out of control.
