Skeletons army animation
Quadrone replied to Mazisky's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I've already reported this in the bug forum when I noticed it on the summoned Blights in [435]. Just having them disappear abruptly feels very fake. There really should be a fade out or death animation when they expire. -
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it was confirmed that companions will in fact leave your party if you act against their wishes too much. Though I'd wager it is like others already guessed and none of the companions will be outright evil nor good but instead be more complex. Eder for example, from what I could gather, seems like an upstanding kind of guy who once had a good set of morals and beliefs but grew cynical from the war he took part in. So with a nudge from the player he could be guided in either way.

steam, will there be preload?
Quadrone replied to apolloooo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Nah, don't think so. At least not for that reason. Limiting everyone because some decline to use Steam would be equally unfair. That said, I do hope there will be a preload. They have to do a gold master close to release for the physical rewards anyway so it seems natural to upload that version for preload and update from there. -
Paradox Con Livestream
Quadrone replied to MasterPrudent's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think the penalty on posting too hastily is getting your soul ripped out. Bring out the animators!!! Ha! Found it, it was on the Codex: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/pillars-of-eternity-beta-release-thread.93694/page-348 Which is it now? Or is it still me and this was in relation to another event? -
Paradox Con Livestream
Quadrone replied to MasterPrudent's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
http://instagram.com/p/zClXW6px-j/ Maybe there is more behind in the story than we know I was certain I read another post which cited a double booking for the hall as being the reason for the dropped stream. If Josh just got sick then Mea culpa. -
Paradox Con Livestream
Quadrone replied to MasterPrudent's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
So PoE just got cut? No replacement schedule being arranged? How incompetent can Paradox be? Completely omitting one of your games because you can't schedule the bookings on your own Con... -
Update #89: Backer Rewards
Quadrone replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
There should have been a place to fill out your address in the backer portal when you were selecting all of your options (even if all you are getting is the thank you card). You have a silver badge, so I assume you did it. If you need help, contact support on the backer site to check with us about your address on file. Thanks. Guess I'll have to contact support then. As I'll be moving to another city close to the release date.- 95 replies

Update #89: Backer Rewards
Quadrone replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Regarding physical rewards: The level at which I backed had a "thank you" postcard as a reward among otherwise only digital rewards. Is this a digital reward as well? As I have no way to enter my address anywhere, nor do I remember entering it at some point.- 95 replies

Hm, yeah that's "okay'ish" in my book. Certainly not good, but not outright bad either. Like Gromnir said, it's something I wouldn't have noticed for quite some time and at best makes certain character builds OP. So it only breaks combat if you try and exploit it. I'm more concerned about bugs actually breaking stuff without me having control over it, i.e. CTDs, incompletable Quests, vanishing Skills/Items, etc...
-
Eh, I think the current build is already kinda okay'ish. Sure there's lots of bugs left, but few that are really obvious. Between December and January there really has been a notable improvement each patch. With February and March still to go I'm hopeful that the remaining bugs on release will be the already mentioned unnoticeable type like in BG2. That said, all that could stop me from playing the game on the first day is the game itself preventing me from playing.

[435] Druid wildshape occasionally bugs out
Quadrone replied to Starwars's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
I wanted to report the same. Tried a Druid with the Cat Wildshape. Sometimes the shift doesn't work no matter how often I click, but 5 seconds later it works. Then after I use the fast attack ability of the Wildshift form the button disappears forever, resting does not return it. -
Hate the idea. Hope it will never get included.
-
Why are you guys engaging that diarrhea seriously? Every problem mentioned is self inflicted or none at all! Wait. He's a silver Kickstarter backer? Am I being baited again?
-
Not necessarily a bug, but after summoning a Blight with the Druid once the battle is over the summon just instantly disappears. It feels very unnatural, a fade out or death animation would be much preferable.

So,... It's gonna be today, right? Has to be, it's "early next week" now.

The Matt Sheets Q(&)A thread
Quadrone replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm in the opposite camp then. To pull me back in the Add-On needs to have continuity and hook into the story of my character. Having extra progression in the form of new side quests and dungeons but no new goal feels lackluster to me. Maybe it's also the fact that I hope for the expansion to be meatier then TotSC and closer to ToB, minus the epic level stuff of course. -
The Matt Sheets Q(&)A thread
Quadrone replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I have 2 questions: 1. What happened to spell chanting? 2. Any chance we can get a basic rundown of skills, class, etc... of the companion NPCs? I hate overlap and I don't want to make my Char. a greatsword user if, for example, Eder starts out with those skills as well. -
Combat Animation
Quadrone replied to Baladas's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I doubt it has anything to do with that. It just a matter of what was promised, time and manpower. The Kickstarter was for a BG/IWD/PS:T type game and the animations are on par/better to what those games had. Above that is stuff you do only if you have time to spare. PoE is a large game, considering the small amount of money OE has to work with, so there is likely always something left to improve or fix. You have to make cuts somewhere. Animations are one such thing. I think I said it before in another thread but considering the amount of weapon types, fighting styles and body sizes making up unique attack/block/doge animations for each variation is a huge amount of work. -
Next PAX Panel
Quadrone replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I don't know how much time you have for the demonstration, so not all of this might be doable but here's my idea: As the questions asked on the last panel showed there's still plenty people who know little about PoE, so you should give them a little tour showing all the basics AND the highpoints PoE has to offer. Instead of showing random battle segments, start of at the beginning: - Show some character creation and all the options you have there. - Show off the stronghold, how you can upgrade it and get visitors there. - Show a minor boss battle so you can show off abilities and spells on fewer enemies that don't drop dead immediately. - Finally, show some choice and consequence and skill usage through dialogue. Like this us longtime fans see new stuff and newcomers don't get the impression PoE is all about dungeon delving. -
Apologies to Obsidian
Quadrone replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Though I like the good intention of this thread I can't entirely agree with Indra there. Yes, the atmosphere could have been a lot better at times and that is regrettable. But even then it was never *toxic*, tense at best. (Ignoring the more obvious sh*tposting threads) I'm hardly one to side with the grogs but I do think it's not right to apologize for having an opinion and having to shelter the devs from negativity. The worst of the never-ending debates could maybe have been cut short by a definite reply by Obs. They don't have to compulsively post an answer in every thread of course, but when the silence becomes deafening then it's just natural that the mood turns sour for some. Case in point: I've gained a big deal of respect for Sensuki after I've made a couple measly bug reports lately and none of them got acknowledged. How he keeps on caring enough to punch out dozens of reports per patch is beyond me.
