  1. Or Mighty Chris Avellone Or Mayor Chris Avellone So many theories, who knows...
  2. 12 minutes. The timer says it will be done in 12 minutes.
  3. Swedish PC Gamer gave Deadfire 92 %. Swedish website fz.se gave the game 5 our of 5. So very good reviews indeed.
  4. In the best of worlds you should be able to finish the game, yes. But then you have the real world to take into consideration, paying bills and all that. But that is why a lot of magazines have started with follow up reviews which is a good thing. I've written a lot of reviews that were negative towards the game, along with other reviewers, and my magazine never ended up on a "s*it" list. That's all I can say about that. Doesn't mean it never happens, but I still doubt it's a major factor of anything in general.
  5. As a former reviewer of a print magazine I feel I have to defend the profession a bit. I agree that most likely, very few reviewers finishes games like long RPG's and the like. The reason for this is that from the time you get a copy in your hand (back in the days, when I reviewed, it was actual physical copies, those were the days my friends) to the time you have to submit the review usually ranges from short to very short. I can imagine the hellish time table the lads and lasses have reviewing Deadfire (if they want a review out on release day, that is, which most wants). I remember reviewing Storm of Zehir and there was no chance in hell that I had the time to finish the entire game, and that was just an expansion. You do the best you can to get a feel for the game. With that said, of course there are reviewers who are more interesting than others, in the way they describe the game and their experience. Some are better and some are worse but that is true for every job out there. It's just a matter of finding the one's you find interesting and follow or subscribe to. I think it's unfair to bash them all and claim the lot of them as without integrity and dishonest. It's a pretty unfair statement.
  6. http://eternity.obsidian.net/news/pillars-of-eternity-ii-deadfire-post-launch-content-announced EDIT: The DLC key is generated in your Obsidian account page, much like the game itself. Looking at the portal, on the product page, I can't see that I have a season pass. So I guess it wasn't included for gold backers then. It's either that or I'm stupid.
  7. Kids these days. A pitchfork and a colostemy bag should come with my avatar. Thanks for the info.
  8. I think I read that they've changed that later due to some Steam editions, so as long as your above a certain price level backer-wise, you'd still get it. So as a gold backer I will get this season pass you speak of? Or DLC, or whatever it is called. Or is it two different things?
  9. There's a thread about rogues here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/97241-thread-for-those-of-us-who-want-to-roll-a-single-or-multi-roguelets-talk/ As I'm sure there are plenty of other threads discussing classes in general. Feel free to look around before posting a new thread.
  10. Aaaand the Packers released Justin Vogel.
  11. Indeed, I also got the feeling Chris was under the influence of something. But regardless, the ****ty comments he posted about Eric Fenstermaker was really bad. Chris' posts really makes him an unsympathetic character at the moment.
  12. That is a good point of course. But given the way Chris is posting on RPG Codex, it feels like he's on a crusade where every village and every bridge is being burnt. And given the statements of Fenstermaker and Davis, I'm not quite sure Chris' version is an objective truth, to put things mildly. So in that context, I wish Obsidian won't go under because of this.
  13. Ouch, this is getting more and more interesting each day. I wouldn't say interesting. Chris seems to wish Obsidian in the gutters, engulfed in legal battles with himself and with Paradox. That would just be awfully depressing. I mean it's hard enough to find good RPG's these days as it is, and it won't be easier with Obsidian gone.
  14. To some extent sure. Look at BG2 and how many players used the kensai/mage or kensai/thief build. But as stated above, those who do that are mostly those who hang out a lot at forums like this, and that's a clear minority of the entire player base. Most of the players will stick with some build they think is cool as a concept.
  15. It was in an interview with Matt Barton. They start talking about it around 3:03:
  16. Wow. So in this post Chris Avellone is explaining to everyone who Eric Fanstermaker hates. Mindblowing. I have no clue about the working conditions at Obsidian, but maybe, just maybe, Chris should take the edge of a little bit?
  17. That's Chris' version so I'd tread lightly there. I'm sure they wanted to quarantine him temporarily but forever? Highly doubt it.
  18. A sad story this is. But looking at it, Chris Avellone doesn't come off as the good guy in my book. I don't think he's really easy to work with. He did Planescape: Torment and basically ended up with hero status. Sure he's done other great stuff too, but making a game is a work of collaboration but he's the one who personally gets uplifted into demigod status. So he and Josh obviously clashed during the development of PoE with Fenstermaker caught in the middle (sure don't envy that guy). And when push came to shove, the owners sided with Josh instead of Chris, which is really a big deal. Just think about how big of star Chris is, being a stretch goal in every other kickstarter out there and being adored by most RPG nerds. To boot such a gem off your company says a great deal of things. I don't see Obsidian being evil here but I also hope everything works out well for Chris in the future in other projects.
  19. So, you're saying it will be the same as any other day of the year?
  20. I'm glad they haven't spoiled much (or anything) regarding the story, the companions and relationships. It should guarantee a fresh feel when the game starts and that will be a big plus. Looking good so far.
  21. Got it! I'm no expert in general and specifically not when it comes to punting. So I'll take your word for it. As for CB:s,yeah, the track record isn't awesome, but I'm hoping atleast one of the two new guys is a boom. But it's true that it'll show for sure in a few years.
  22. So Packers signed a punter. They had plenty of picks obviously, but I thought Justin Vogel did a good job last season so I was really surprised. But then I read that the special teams coach wasn't a big fan of Vogel. Packers needed to stack up on cornerbacks and got two of the four top rated, which also includes an extra pick in the first round 2019. It's all good in my book. Now here's hoping the secondary won't be abyssmal when the season starts.
  23. Oh, and I forgot about Cardinals. I think they got a steal in Rosen as he slid down the draft.
  24. Given their Manziel experience, yes, taking Mayfield seems like they want to bomb at QB. Mayfield has potential though, so if he stays out of trouble it will most likely will be good. But it's a big if. As for Ward I think it makes sense. The division has good throwing QB's, so they need to level up their CB squad. Ward was the best CB option in the draft (Minkah (love his name) could have been a reasonable choice too). I get why they went there.
  25. Webb is a third round pick during last years draft. You can't compare him to Darnold or Rosen in my opinion. But with that said, there's never a guarantee even if you pick a QB at the first or second pick of the draft (Lex Browns). So we will see how it turns out.
