Random video game news... may the dice be with you!
rjshae replied to Gorth's topic in Computer and Console
Is it just me or does anybody else get a "creepy stare" feel from the cut scene dialogues? 3.2 seconds, people. -
This is a fundamentally incorrect analysis in so many ways. The West can't intervene directly because of the likelihood of nuclear escalation. Ukraine had the resources to fight this war without Western aid, but having that aid has made the defense more effective. Getting the Ukraine army equipped and trained up to western standards won't happen overnight; it will probably take a year or more. Meanwhile, I'd expect the goal of the West is to create a stable outcome. If that means giving Russia a bloody nose so they think twice before invading again, then so be it. If it takes an extended guerrilla war lasting a decade, well that will be up to the two sides to resolve.

Suicide rates didn't increase during pandemic Well, at least there's one piece of good news. Too bad it wasn't true of domestic violence.

Tastes vary I suppose. I read pretty fast and only one of the puzzles was particularly annoying. But you get that in many similar games.

Owlcat games are far from perfect, but they're good enough to pour 100 hours into each game. Perfect is the enemy of good. I am glad to see somebody tackling a tactical RPG in this setting. Some day perhaps we'll even see one for WFRP.

The ‘Benjamin Button’ effect: Scientists can reverse aging in mice. The goal is to do the same for humans This research is both intriguing and rather scary. When the immortality drugs become available, will the current rulers and wealthy stay on top forever? I'm picturing Putin and Trump here, for example, as eternal despots.

Is it true the S*x Pistols will be holding a concert in her honor? How noble of them.

UEFA Issues Apology to Fans; Will Review Events Around Champions League Final

Why was the Champions League final delayed 36 minutes? Was it the fans? Police pepper sprayed children. Ticket-paying Liverpool fans were denied entrance after standing in a queue for two and a half hours. Karma is a b*tch, I suppose.

Ukraine Conflict - "Only the dead have seen the end of war."
rjshae replied to Mamoulian War's topic in Way Off-Topic
I think it would be more accurate to say that an absence (or failure) of true democracy is what brought us those wars. The nationalism urge was something exploited by the alpha males who wanted to conquer their neighbors. But nationalism also allowed those democracies to defend themselves. -
Well that ought to pay for a few cocaine sessions.
