  1. Yeah, it's not a good look. But then it's par for the course, I suppose. DJT lacks any sort of moral compass.
  2. More time for the diplomacy *COUGH*bribes*COUGH* to kick in, I suppose. Unfortunately, it is maintaining an unhealthy business environment.
  3. Pope Leo XIV was born in the US, a resident of the country for more than 14 years, and is over 35 years old. According to the Constitution, that makes him eligible to run for the US Presidency. Well that would make things interesting...
  4. I'm waiting for the Andor season 2 to wrap so I can binge watch both seasons, probably followed by Rogue One. Can't wait! Meanwhile, I'm watching the new Daredevil season. What I'm finding these days is that I prefer a low power superhero series as it can focus more on the drama and less on spectacular visual f/x for the various uber powers. Plus they don't overload the cast with power variants.
  5. I've got a globe made of inlaid stone that's 3 times the Schwarzschild radius. I'm sure it's perfectly safe.
  6. Yes, the Dems are a mess right now. They need to focus more on issues that impact voters, like health care and the economy.
  7. I think a trade deal with GB can be considered low hanging fruit. Only 194 more foot surgeries to go.
  8. Yes, that is the "best case" scenario. In my mind it depends on what happens with the mid-term elections. If they are fair and represent the majority view, I'll feel more optimistic.
  9. I enjoyed Sanctuary, a Witch's tale on AMC+. It was better than I was expecting and was actually more about the drama than fantasy magic. The modern witch hunt tale felt entirely plausible, given human nature.
  10. For now. There was a ceasefire declared in January as well. Peace overtures rarely seem to last long in that part of the world.
  11. This week in stupid: FEMA cancels classes at national fire training academy amid federal funding cuts Fire fighting? Such a waste of money.
  12. What happens when punk does reggae. Jimmy Cliff does a pretty good take on this song.
  13. Island prisons are more expensive to run. Here in Washington we closed the McNeil Island penitentiary for that reason. There's no significant benefit to re-opening Alcatraz, when the money can be better spent elsewhere.
  14. Just enjoying the beautiful weather, strolling, and listening to reggae.
  15. I disagree with your claim they are 'equally' bad. Compared to the elected USA presidents over the last fifty years, Biden was average; Trump is incompetent.
  16. A new Planet 9 candidate has been found: Evidence of controversial Planet 9 uncovered in sky surveys taken 23 years apart Hopefully the new survey telescopes coming online soon will sort it all out.
  17. The doomsday clock never went away. It is now 89 seconds to midnight
  18. Working on my next set of 3-D model conversions. Sketchfab is a great site to just explore, in addition to all their downloads.
  19. I finished watching Snowpiercer. It was a fun series, even in the scenario is completely implausible. All it would take is one large tree fall or landslide and the train is halted in its tracks. In some ways the scenario reminded me a little of the Fallout series with its mad science experiments in the various shelters. The acting was pretty good though, the characters were suitably flawed, and there were some decent plot twists. It's always fun watching Sean Bean, in this case as the devilish engineer mastermind. Daveed Diggs was a good casting as the charming revolutionary, and I enjoyed Jennifer Connelly's work as the icy train engineer. Another favorite was Bess Till, as a truly tormented soul. All in all an enjoyable cast.
  20. Well, on the positive side, inflation from tariffs is presumably a one-time thing, unless orangeman decides to keep increasing them. The bigger problem for the economy is the level of instability displayed by his decision-making process. It's the type of behavior that creates problems for businesses trying to budget for the next financial year. I'd expect that businesses will become more cautious and conservative, stock-piling against future tariffs, avoiding risky investments, and limiting new hires. Growth will slow, jobs will be harder to find, and the economy will slump. Combine that will a loss of government jobs and a reduction in research. I don't see a formula for positive growth.
  21. And so it begins... *COUGH*Andromeda Strain*COUGH*
