  1. It's refreshing because it's bad instead of pretentious?
  2. Yeah, in today's gaming atmosphere, it makes no sense for expansion packs not to be continuations of the story. Dragon Age: Awakenings executed this brilliantly, I thought. It was fully connected to the main game, but was separate enough that it acted as its own campaign.
  3. That entire series is as immature about sex as every other game is. I hate all the justifications people try to give for it. The absolute worst ones are "but they are only being true to the books" (so what?) and "but women were treated like cattle back then" (but it's a fictional world). The Triss sex scene in TW2 was so bad. It played out exactly like a wet dream of a high schooler.
  4. They didn't create a genre, RPGs were around long before BioWare or Interplay. PoE is going to have an Adventurer's Hall where you can create a party, like at the start of IWD.
  5. That's because it is nonsense. It's not a sensible thing to do at all. You don't pay to do a job.
  6. In 15 years, we'll have God's Not Dead: The Musical.
  7. In my mind BG1 is the perfect example of how voice acting can enhance a game. Lots of really colourful voice acting there. I wonder who they hired to do it? Reasonably they must have been in contact with some organization, I don't really see how you can recruit such a diverse cast on an individual basis. Local theatre actors must be the ideal candidates to contact for VO in a game. VO only became in indicator of **** when people decided they needed "celebrities" to do it, and that all dialogue should be voice acted. Meanwhile I'm sure excellent semi-famous voice actors such as David Warner (Irenicus in BG2) and Stephen Russell (Garrett in Thief) could still make excellent contributions to games with a budget slightly above PE. BG1 voice cast: Dee Bradley Baker Jim Cummings (Monterey Jack) Bill Farmer (Goofy) Jennifer Hale Rob Paulsen (I assume I don't need to list him roles) Kevin Michael Richardson Frank Welker (Megatron) So, it's not that video games didn't used to have celbrity voices; it's that they used to cost far less when games were less popular. I'm sorry you feel slighted, but it's their game. It's not like he's saying "these people that play like this are criminals". You're projecting a much more vehement and nasty tone to what were some pretty straight-forward ideas. It's not like he's going "thanks for the money, suckers".
  8. I asked Rose to contact everyone, if possible, even if the note I left was, "No problems, should work as written." That said, there are a lot of backers, so it may take a while. Do Gold members have priority over the filthy Silvers?
  9. So, I think we've found this generation's Reefer Madness: I knew God Is Not Dead was going to be a bunch of propaganda, but this makes it sound like some weird Christian Torture Revenge Porn.
  10. VO can really set the scene and set the game on fire. It's VO Mismanagement that has been hurting games recently. I'm looking forward to seeing how DA3 handles it.
  11. I was commenting on how they were taking that comment at face value instead of thinking about it? To be clear, I was not saying anything about his opinion. I was saying he should think about the context of what is being said before he comments on it. Two entirely different things. Calm down, dude.
  12. Exactly. Saying "we want Call of Duty's numbers" and explaining what that means can be a world of difference.
  13. Wow, deriding your most hardcore fans and going full mainstream I see. Well, I had high hopes for this game but it seems this might be worse than "Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel"! Yeah, I can make things sound bad too with a lack of context.
  14. Grognards is an actual word. It literally means Old School. K, is this supposed to be representative of what "grognards" want? Aside from the fact that I can only think of 1 (one) such encounter in ALL of IE games (Kangaxxx), I have yet to meet a grognard who's ever said: "hey I want more encounters that force me to use at least 1 rogue and 2 clerics." or "I hate modern games because they don't require you to have a Fighter!" lol Although this comment from Josh does seem a bit odd considering that he's decided to give MMO like combat role definitions to the classes. From the above, I'm assuming I can have a well rounded party without a "mob ruler" or a "heavy hitter"? Gee I sure hope so. I'd hate to be GM-sucker punched because I decided to roll up an all mage party due to my love for mages. Wow, someone's a little upset that the devs think differently than they do.
  15. Yeah, it's not about the player's personal preferences, it's about what type of genre you are playing in.
  16. Yeah, tons of people want it to fail, either to "punish" BioWare or to... well, punish BioWare, really. I'm just wondering, can they really pull off 40 different endings? It would be fantastic if they could, but right now it just seems like PR spin to go after TW3.
  17. And if this game is actually good, the butthurt will be tremendous.
  18. Holy crud, that is a scathing interview. Golf claps. Although I really don't like people in authority pushing the idea that "stupid games" exist and there's a market for that, bravo.
  19. It looks fine to me. A bit overdramatic but decent. I just finished the Hunger Games. I thought it was going to be Twilight with Guns. Instead what I got was Pure Awesome. I'm going to read the books now. I'm assuming they read like the young adult books of the mid-90s.
  20. Yeah, let's not presume that X or Y will be better than whatnot. TW3 and DA3 look to be doing two entirely different things. It's like comparing Borderlands to Doom just cause they are both FPS'.
  21. So, Old School means it should not progress video games in any meaningful way? I can assure you that projects like PoE, WL2, and BA are progressing the industry. And even then, you're saying that Old School cannot in any way incorporate any knowledge of the past X years? You do know that Baldur's Gate 2 was made in 2000? Torment in '99. I often play games sitting back. Sometimes on a bean bag. Sometimes with my feet on the couch or table - or even desk. And I can most likely assure you, if something awesome is not happening every five seconds, I'm doing something wrong. I play games to have fun, not to contemplate how pretty the landscape looks.
