  1. Mike Laidlaw is in charge of DA. No idea about Mass Effect 4. Salt at even mentioning that BioWare did something. Why do you care if a dev at BW doesn't know who Obsidian are? And if they are in the industry, and in the RPG genre, and they work at BioWare, you can 100% bet they know who Obsidian are. I get that it's cool to hate on BioWare because of EA (and let's face it, that's the only reason), but getting angry simply because one group of people did something nice for another group of people? That's lame. There are better things to get upset about.
  2. There comes a point in any working relationship when you need to be in the same room in order to get stuff done efficiently.
  3. So much salt. It's like when people realized Notch had invited Anita Sarkeesian to his housewarming party. "No, there has to be some sort of justification. It can't possibly be because I'm petty."
  4. Well, Obsidian made it very clear they would not have been able to do it without a publisher.
  5. There are many reasons. You may just be in the wrong subforums. I've seen most devs only working the game subforums.
  6. A refund on a project you donated money to. You do know that money was spent, right? It's not like they are holding money for a pre-order.
  7. Except it's not equality, that's the problem. Tell me something, if a bigot comes up to you and tells you that you're a bigot, do you do what they say? Pro tip: just because someone finds something offensive that you don't doesn't make them a bigot. People have the right to speak up, and reacting by going to the extreme is lame.
  8. Darn your correct title! Um... yeah. Obsidian almost went under, makes Pillars of Eternity, gives away the sequel for free...
  9. SJW's aren't the market, so a company submitting to them makes no sense. The only value that they provide is the amount of whining, and their threats to the company in question. I'd actually say they're no different than al sharpton or the mob. "Nice company you've got here, it'd be a shame if someone called you guys sexist/misogynists/racists/etc." I got news for you both if you think companies like Obsidian and Double Fine only care about equality when it literally infects them like a virus... I need to laugh every time someone talks about this or that company "submitting" to "SJWs".
  10. But it's not stupid. It brings up the actually very valid point within the concept of crowdfunder-made content of what constitutes offensive content and how should the company regulate their crowdfunded content.
  11. Also, the obvious: Hitting Tab is cheating if that name is short for Tabitha and she is not your wife.
  12. I also need to bring this up. When you open yourself up to this kind of public addition into your own product, not going over every single detail to find something that might be potentially offensive or even actually mean spirited is a bonehead move.
  13. No, it's an implication. Something like... you know what, I'll look it up. Here's the link; the backer message is in the first post: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/73243-memorials-problem/ Yeah, that's.... that's bad. No idea how that got through. My only thought is that it's not explicitly trans-phobic. It's sad that someone paid $1k to write that.
  14. I mean it's definitely a grey area. It's rather horrible but does it outright say the person he slept with is transgender? It sounds like someone morphed into a female, slept with him, then morphed back.
  15. So something did happen. Okay. And just not talking about this kind of stuff is never the answer. But can someone fill me in? One of the backer messages is a joke about some dude who sleeps with someone he thinks is a woman who turns out to be a man, and then goes and kills himself from shame. Some trans people found this upsetting and asked that it be removed. Other people found them expressing the fact that they were upset by this (and the removal request) upsetting. Holy ****, that is disgusting.
