The issue is the West cant allow genocide of innocents, like why the USA went back into Iraq last year to save the Yazidis who were about to wiped out by ISIS. So even though it may seem reasonable and logical what you are saying there is this humanitarian precedent that in most cases the West wont ignore and I support this http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/09/yazidis-trapped-mountaintop_n_5664857.html why? it is their domestic trouble... let them deal with it in their way... perhaps they need something like that in order to evolve their society... Look at what two big world wars did to Europe... suddenly the notion that perhaps working together is better than constant warring for riches, land and influence... It was less than 100 years ago and if yo would look at EU you would see a lot of nations being ready to go to war with each other over various little things...

Neither Julius nor Aurelian (the two most widely attributed to its destruction) were Christian - just Romans. well it survived till later (part of wiki quote): Paganism was made illegal by an edict of the Emperor Theodosius I in AD 391. The temples of Alexandria were closed by Patriarch Theophilus of Alexandria in AD 391.[32] The historian Socrates of Constantinople describes that all pagan temples in Alexandria were destroyed, including the Serapeum.[34] Since the Serapeum housed a part of the Great Library, some scholars believe that the remains of the Library of Alexandria were destroyed at this time.[32][35] However, it is not known how many, if any, books were contained in it at the time of destruction, and contemporary scholars do not mention the library directly.[36][37] In AD 642, Alexandria was captured by the Muslim army of Amr ibn al `Aas. Several later Arabic sources describe the library's destruction by the order of Caliph Omar.[38][39]Bar-Hebraeus, writing in the 13th century, quotes Omar as saying to Yaḥyā al-Naḥwī: "If those books are in agreement with the Quran, we have no need of them; and if these are opposed to the Quran, destroy them."[40] Later scholars are skeptical of these stories, given the range of time that had passed before they were written down and the political motivations of the various writers.[41][42][43][44][45]

BTW, leave them alone and they will be busy with themselves: http://news.yahoo.com/al-qaeda-leader-al-zawahiri-declares-war-isis-151231254--abc-news-topstories.html

Well they act in the same way as early Christians.... Destruction of Great Library of Alexandria being the most painful one.

Thats been an interesting post, I knew some of it but most I didn't Thanks for sharing I'm interested why you think Putin is reasonable? He is directly involved in destabilizing Ukraine which should be something you condemn as he is basically involved in a domestic war? I said, in the case of ME and immigrants his stance is reasonable. Ukraine is another cup of tea, and he overreacted there... the Crimea part i can understand and only a moron would think that Russia would let their black sea fleet base be removed from there. (That is why Western countries did not really care that much about Crimea, aside of some voiced concern) It is too important for their geopolitics, especially the middle east area, but further actions in Donbas and generally eastern Ukraine are just plain stupid on his part, and now put him in a stalemate... he can't really pull off and lose face, but on the other side the good will of western countries has been depleted and they are not really interested in helping him find a solution that would save his face and end the conflict there.

Also another example... Look at China... we all remember the scenes from 1980s, and look at them now....

@Bruce I'll give you an example on the case how communism fell in the eastern EU, maybe then you will realize how different that was to what was done in Arabic countries. The CEE countries lived under oppression of communism, there were protests, which were quenched hard and in blood. Look at events in Czechoslovakia and Poland from 1945 up to 1985. There were alwasy people dissatisfied with the government and there were groups that hated the system. The only support those organizations were given from the west, was a vocal support and recognition of "opposition" as the people you have the moral right... that's it!!!.. No arms funding, no guriella fighting trainings, no airstrikes, etc... and WHY? because at that time the other side was a nuclear and military power of Soviet Union. Eventually after a couple of generations a lot of people had someone who died or was a political prisoner in their wide family. So it also came that a new leader at the steering wheel of Soviet Union happened to be less militant, and that opened a window for protesters to gain ground in their countries as local governments, with less fear of military action from the big guy, were also not so inclined for another bloody run versus their own population. And so the change was made, not through direct power and combat, but through steady developments throughout 4-5 decades, with some body toll left as martyrs. The point is, that at the end of the road the vast majority of population wanted the same change, they wanted more personal freedom and be able to elect their own government in a free, democratic election. Can you say the same about all the parties involved in the so called "Arab spring" had the same call? Why not to let them fail a few times? arming opposition and destroying military structure of dictators just made things worse, as it only pro-longed the fight and militized local population, where many groups were fighting, but each for different reasons. If we would not get involved, people would DIE and get imprisoned and tortured, same as it was in case of CEE countries, but the death toll would be much lower, eventually it could lead to changes at the leadership and perhaps that could trigger changes done internally, and slowly, in accordance to the readiness of the respective populaces. I mean, look at Cuba, the old Castro is at his death bed and the younger one is already more open which leads to changes... I was on Cuba, and I've seen first hand how different people are there. But no, in case of Arab countries, US and EU decided on military/fast solution, because of the natural resources. They wanted fast change, which would also set governments friendly to the Western powers, even though the combatants against the local dictatorship had very different reasons to do it. The example of Iraq alone should just make it super obvious, that you NEVER ever should get involved in local struggles in middle east... As is, we put hand into destabilizing the whole region and gave birth to ISIS, which CAN succeed in forming a new Islamic state, it can, because they are united on a single goal, while their opposition is divided on what goals thy want to achieve while combating them... Sauds have different reasons, Iran has different reasons, Turks have different reasons, Assad has other reasons, Russia has different interests, and finally EU and US have other reasons too... Let them suffer and fight their own fight for 40 years or more if need be, but they need to first unite themselves around a common goal, and not have various groups fighting for various interests... Once there is a common value around which they will gather the vast majority of population, then the change will happen in a less bloody way, and surely not so destabilizing as we have now. Stop arming people there, stop fighting not your war over there... those are domestic conflicts... would you like as US that during your civil war you would get armed support from Brits on one of sides in a form of ground troops and artillery? What if you would have French army in the confederates, which would lead to their victory? Would you be the same country now? Domestic conflicts should be resolved on a domestic level... never send an external army force to do their own job. Funnily enough, I find Putins stance the most reasonable one on this whole ME drama... (and I disagree with him on so many others) 1) Do not remove local dictators, it will only make things worse 2) if you want to live in my country, you follow my laws and respect my culture, if you want to live in your culture, go back to your homeland...

The only thing that makes no sense to me is that her body armor comes with penalties... i mean...it ia her body not something on top of it restraining movements... Cutnit down from 40 to 0 amd we.can talk.. i mean she still cannot use any other armor so she can have only ****ty generic enchants.. 0 speeed reduction would be a unique element of this armor type...

Well the funny thing is that people who were immigrants 2-3 generations ago MAX and what made these countries successful in the first place now get strict regulations on migrants. I understand the logic about natural development resources etc. But they are being hypocrits. Perhaps they first should get approved by native popuplace of those lands... If someone is able to find work, pay taxes and is not a criminal shpuld be simy.allowed to move and work as long as he gets paid the same amount as if the citizen would be doing the same type of work. If he does not have a job semd him home. If he commits a crime (like theft) send him and all his relatives home. Simpler solutions that allow those willing to work hard to create their own American dream... also the person mus assimilate to the local culture. Not demand own conditions cause reasons... you are a ****ing guest so live and behave like a good guest.

Max and Lexx or Lexx and Max... both mad to the max?

You anti-American guys are really dramatic.....such theatrics, you guys make me laugh because I really believe you believe what you say I need to go to the bank so I'll tell you guys why I like the West when I get back I am not anti-american. I am anti-stulid. It just happens that muricans in their ignorance did a lot of stupid things. Even brits during the 1800s had better understanding of that region... Also i wish i could glimpse into the future and have my last laugh...

Oh god how i remember those fights where games are better. Amiga or PC :D -
There was that one point in history around 1800 years ago whe a certain pan european empire failed to assimilate various cultures and when a certain religion became dominant. At that point people following that religion believed in conversion by sword and flame... Now we have a similar situation and i sure would not like to live in times around 150-200years from now.

Role of fighter?
Darkpriest replied to Real Rahl's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Nah, i think he is good as it is, but, i would not mind adding applying KD effect on disengagement attacks if he is in the defender mode..right now a lot of NPCs disregard this engagement and some can just avoid it completely by teleporting. so unless you are blocking doorway or something similarly narrow, they will move around. Alternatively modify the sweep attack from per rest to per encounter. -
I just noticed something... was it my imagination or there were some creatures there that are not yet in the game?

You're right, sorry, it's just that I' m posting from mobile as well, adjusting the formatting and the quotes takes a fair bit of scrolling up... I prefer using @"name" solution myself if I am referring to someones text, unless it's like a short sentence or paragraph, like this one -

BTW, people should stop building quote walls... things get unreadable on mobile version.. with such walls of quotes.... -
So that vid suddenly got more attention in the interwebz than real problems... god, I am fat right now, but i went through some serious depression stuff, but I did not find her vid offensive... In a matter of fact there is a lot in that vid that is true, like people using scooters, not caring for themselves etc... a lot of them are lazy, that's true, but i really see no point to this vid causing reaction on the internet... this only shows how stupid our western culture grew and how eventually it will collapse... with a big bang... EDIT: BTW they most funny thing about that vid, is that i have in related vids: A-hole's guide to Techies :D (only DotA people will know what this is)

They always have been destabilized... from as long as the history knows that region from Summerian, Babylonian and Ancient Assyria... it was always revolving about interests of clans and families and the only thing they respect there was and is the authorative power. Babylon, Persia, Post Alexandrian Seleucids, Parthia, Sassanids, Arabia and later Islamic Khaliphat, then Turks and Ottoman Empire, to eventual British occupation of Arabia... All started to break after the 2nd World War, with the highlight moment being setting new borders and introduction on that map the country of Israel, first time since the Roman era, making a lot of mess there. Then instead of letting various dictatorships rule ignorant 'muricans decided to force their ways because "oil and gas". And now we have have fruits of the ignorance for over 4000 years of culture in that region. ISIS might succeed, it's not really destined to failure... they might, because they are hungry of success and determined, they also have support of more zealous and poorly educated majority and the only real issue was the sheer military crackdown capabilites of opressive monrachy (like sauds) or non-religious dictators (like Saddam Hussein,, Gaddafi or the syrian president)

Probably like all the previous migrants from the middle east... meaning, they won;t....

Role of fighter?
Darkpriest replied to Real Rahl's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It stopped being productive when OP stopped paying attention to criticism to his baseless arguments. I don't see a point in running this campaign to make fighters OP and so i will participate to resist this change. Fighters are in good place now, they dont need any nerfs or buffs Fighters are in a bad place now, cause there is no a single reason to take a fighter in the party now over paladin. Paladin is just a better version of fighter now. I don't have an exact idea how it should be fixed (whether fighters should be buffed or paladins nerfed) but it should be fixed somehow to make fighters usefull and unique again. I do not agree with this... Fighter is much better at hitting things and he can also apply front line CC. I have no idea where do people get this idea that paladin outshines fighter... the only thing they might outshine the fighter is at holding the line with their slightly higher defenses... Fighter can both hold the line, and deal reasonable damage with weapons, AND he has front line CC capabilities... -

well I think that the upgraded version of the defender should just add a status effect application. When yo try to disengage from a FIGHTER you get a disengagement attack that can apply a knockdown effect. That's it. -
@Bruce The problem is not the so called "Arab spring", the problem is, involvment in thos events from outside... THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE IT ON THEIR OWN!!!!!!!!! No need for airstrikes, logistic support, military advisors, up to a real troops support... Perhaps they would succeed, perhaps they would fail, but whatever would happen would be reflection of real internal support and power. There is a reason why the only types of countries which are stable, are the ones with represive monarchy (Saudis, etc), dictatorships (Iran), or very strong military lobby (Turkey, Egypt)... If we would not get involved into ME at all, it would be best for all... let them fight their own fights on their own... You can voice support for such ideas, but for whatever you values sake, DO NOT GET INVOLVED... Your lack of local perspective and knowledge, plus simple ignorance for over 4000 years culture, will only make things worse...
