Games you want that'll likely never exist
Darkpriest replied to Barothmuk's topic in Computer and Console
Looking how the TW:Warhammer shapes up - I can say That I'd love to have a really good RPG set in the Warhammer universe. SO MUCH POTENTIAL both for story and combat. I mean, there is just so much there to see. -
well, there are some valid points, but i do think that it is too much religion based, than tradition based point of view. Tradition =/= religon

I laughed a bit - done by CA and their VA

So they are enabling Bretonnia for MP and custom SP battles, while the campaign inclusion will be an FCL (Free-DLC) near winter 2016.

I've just completed it and it is really nice and interesting, although the forced alternative turns system is kind of "meh". even abilities that help to modify the sequences in combat are not so hot. it feels like you are getting punished for killing weaker enemies :D
-
So, after it hit the shelves (finally!) what are your impressions about it? Did you play the first one?
-
Heh, funny. it is a fairly old piece of news, but it seems that Sweden will spent more money on refugees and immigrants than on its own military and defense in the next budget. I just cannot grasp the idiocy behind this.

The concept looks cool, i wonder how do you control the ship, guns etc. and how good gameplay wise is it? -
Bruce, How is HOMM related to Warhammer? :D But I never had AI cheating other than economy And as for Warhammer, this vid. just makes me want a solid RPG in that setting even more...

Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear RELEASED
Darkpriest replied to Infinitron's topic in Computer and Console
Yes, people are actually more up in arms about Minsc (and Safana and Jaheira for that matter) than the whole "trans" thing. Because it´s out of character for Minsc to say this line, and inconsistency in a character people know for almost two decades is really miserable writing, just so the writer can take a jab at some online movement. It´s cheap and for roleplayers (we are talking about an RPG after all), it can be an immersion breaker. The CEO of Beamdog also realized this now, and they are removing the line. It´s a small step, not that it improves the overall quality of writing. hmm, no, Fallouts (the good ones) have tons of pop cultura references and was still hell a lot of fun Yeah, they do, but they are placed in a setting, which could very well have the same pop culture icons, as it is after all only a bit twisted Earth. -

Because the main writer is some generic hipster SJtard without knowledge of the FR lore. I am fairly sure she has never ever read any FR related book to deities, elves and the drow. -
CRPGs have made a comeback! How about RTSs?
Darkpriest replied to Heijoushin's topic in Computer and Console
Seems that Ashes of SIngularity gets quite positive reviews. I might give it a try, as i liked Total Annihilation types of games. Now If only we could get something like that in the WH40k universe.... -

I do not mind some tongue in cheek stuff like Edwina, but going into this whole transgenderism, which was NOWHERE mentioned in the lore before. There is multitude of various shapeshifters, transmutation magic, even classic belt of opposite sex, but the moment it goes beyond light and into political action, the same moment it deserves harsh criticism. If you want to be so SJtarded then create a new IP in a new setting and call i whatever you want, just get this out of the well established lore and game title. -

Darkpriest replied to Heijoushin's topic in Computer and Console
I second that, there are laughable amount of modern cRPGs that took at least some attention, and those are SO niche... RTS now are completely in the same boat. Few niche games here and there like Grey Goo, Ashes and etc... They'll never win over mass public unless devs strip it from each and every possible complicity down to the level of MOBAs, MMORPGs or CS-like shooters =/ Btw StarCraft 2, with a few complaints, is modern masterpiece IMO, campaign sucks, no argument, but as competetive online (as it suppose to be) it rocks real hard. Hopefully Bliz won't bury it in another MMO and we'll see SC3... one day. Actally, aside of the story aspect of the epilogue, i'd say the SP campaign is rock solid as well with a variety of play styles and missions over three titles. -

MOBA took a lot of RTS crowd, as it is comepetitive, easier on micro level and macro level, fast paced and team oriented RTS need some game in the line of what XCom did for TB genre. It needs some triple A title that will be fun, fairly simple, but complex enough and difficult enough to not be a cake walk or broken balance wise. RTS still has great games - CoH 2, SC2 - there is some rumor about re-release of the Warcraft games, so perhaps something is in works in that setting, there might be something in the works in the WH40k universe (DoW style). RTS is a very demanding game type for a player - to be good at it, you need to be able to think and act on multpile layers at once, and it is generally hard (just look at the SC2 pro players, their crazy APM, map awareness, multitasking, micro of units) - so it is hard to make a good RTS, and easy to get in and play at a competent level. SP RTS side can be fun, but it is a one playthrough and you are done, MP where it is at in terms of life time and extended interest, and MP is really hard to get it right. -
Well going public gives extra cash inflow, BUT it comes at a price of having to meet various budgets and growth in EBITDA, and that means pressure on revenue line and pressure on the cost of sales - i.e. they might need to create some more games with wider appeal.
-
Depends, if you want to play vs AI or you are an MP beast. Creative costs points which can be spent eslewhere and you use those points for expansion / production related traits while focus research only on key techs (you do not need all buildings, weapons etc.)
-
Yeah i always played Psilon or some custom race with the "creative" perk, as it was too limiting otherwise. They have a bit of that though, as some techs you can get only 1 of 2 or 3 choices, and if you want to rest of that tech tree you need to trade for it or steal it
