We gotta hear what they have to say more about the way magic will work, maybe psionic and magic are both the same thing...

Obsidian Entertainment well done.
Troller replied to JayDGee's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yeah man, making good things takes time -
Still, there is a big group of people trying to do away with the traditional races, in exchange for something more elder scrolls like :/

Do we want elves and dwarves?
Troller replied to Telefax's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Traditional races are what they are, Traditional, people are used with it and everyone knows what an elf is, what a dwarf is, how they usually behave. Now creating lots of new races, that would need maybe more money and time than what obsidian will have, and also elf and dwarfs are supposed to have lots of different behavior, like the human race, so you only get tired from it, if the guy that writes about them isn't very good at writing, which I don't think will be a big concern with the team working in this game. Also with Torment the different races worked out, because they already had a setting for it, with lots of lore from the Planescape D&D.Now creating lots of different stuff from 0, that's hard... -
Magic in a mature setting
Troller replied to 1varangian's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Magic in a mature setting: what I expect to see is blood, and limbs flying around while things explode at least...bodies getting destroyed by acids, screams of pain but really I dont think magic should be much OP like in most of modern games, magic should play like what an explosion specialist in the army would feel like, you are a regular human being but with a vast knowledge on how things are going to blow, or maybe some hypnotism -
Rest, injuries and recuperation
Troller replied to Nonek's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Man there should be some side effects for potions, I mean they are like those powerful chemicals that make fatal injuries disappear pretty much, maybe some addiction system like in Fallout, or more severe side effects for the constant use of potions, also a cooldown, I mean what human being can chug liters and liters of potions in a matter of seconds, and in combat... -

http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/60092-morale-system/ what you think about a system like this man? I thought it looks interesting to implement in an RPG, and ofc INjuries would play a great part on it -
I really would like to see they experimenting on new stuff, sure the old games are classic and are great, but some mechanics they have can be modified to make things better. More life to dungeons, not just have the monster waiting for you in every room, making the dungeons more dynamic, with more movement and specify the relations between it's inhabitants is a must thing for them to do IMO.

[Merged] DRM Discussion Thread
Troller replied to Arundor's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Read the thread. You may be unable to see problems with it, but that doesn't mean other people don't. If you like it fine, then sure, chalk that up to a vote for DRM. I am a pirate myself, and I know how it works, I lurk lots of pirate forums, and a strong DRM does work to make profit, because some people just can't help it, and go and buy the game because they don't have the patience to wait for a crack. -
I find it hard to believe that that's the case for the demographic that's demanding a return to the isometric RPG. You would be surprised, for lot of people what they want is to blow up stuff with their fancy powers, not listen to a man whining about his hurt feelings or w/e Considering the target audience and the hooks used, I wonder if you got lost on the Kickstarter page and accidentally clicked the wrong thing? MMOs exist for a reason, it sounds like you're more into that. (Nothing against MMOs, I play one on the side as well when I do want to chop things up with minimal quest text.) I didnt said I dont like reading, I said a good story is nice, but there won't be a single writer doing all the writing, and also not everywriter writes great all of the time, maybe he woke up and is pissed off at his life and does poor work, having a huge amount of lore is pretty much like expecting game developers to be like book authors, which I never expect in a game.

Tropes that could be avoided
Troller replied to Margaretha's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Or maybe you want to play as regular guy, his only "powers" are his companions that help him because he is so weak. This is an RPG, there should be freedom to play any role I want, apart from irrealistic ones that go without saying: a genocidal, racist, rapist nazi that kills children and eat their corpses for fun. -
[Merged] DRM Discussion Thread
Troller replied to Arundor's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
What's the big deal with DRM, if it gives the developers we like more profit, so that they can make better and more games, I see no problem with it. -
I seriously hope they don't make magic as overpowered as in most modern games, playing a Wizard shouldn't feel like playing a god, but more like a well trained human with some explosives, hypnotism, and books knowledge.Warriors must be important too, usually they are just the "Tank, that you are obligated to put into your party to go first and soak all the damage" so that the mage can do everything.

If I wanted to read a book, I'd get a book, I play games for it's gameplay and sure a good and elaborated story is good, like in PST, no need to stack books and books of content into the game to cater to a very little percentage of people that actually go through it all, most people don't even care enough to read all the dialogue.

Will there be guns
Troller replied to Aram's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Problem with guns is that it's a way more complex subject with all the physics and chemistry of it, and no one can dodge a bullet. -
DLC vs Expansion Packs
Troller replied to Intoxicated_Ant's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Take this DLC word out of here hahah Seriously, it's so loaded with corporate greedy that they just have to do away with it, and create some other word for DLC Now expansion packs are a different deal.- 139 replies

They are just trying to please everyone, if they release all the info, some people might think it suck, and convince their friends not to pledge for it.The way I see it, two kind of people are backing this project, Old School Rpg fans, that just want to see the sequel to his favorite game pretty much, and also the newer RPG fans, that would like their Bioware touch all over this project... Check your privilege!

I've been playing a lot of Total War Shogun 2 lately, and there is this morale system, where the troops gotta keep a good morale to be able to fight, if the morale drops too low, due to being outnumbered, or having their companions routing, attacked in the back, etc...the army might just flee and not attack. Wouldn't it be interesting if you we have something similar for the party members.Where they might just not want to engange in combat, if you aren't a good leader.Like if they think they are outnumbered, and didnt rest properly, maybe you mistreated them or something, lots of stuff could go into this... what you guys think? I know that in other games enemies have that kind of problem, Morale failure: berserk and fleeing, but I never saw anyone from my team fleeing, usually it's a fight to the death haha anyway just an idea, thought some of you might think it's interesting peace
